A Very Berry Card

It happens when you start getting new stamps – you forget what you have owned longer than an year! πŸ˜›

This happened to me when I started searching for something to submit it this time’s CASology challenge. The theme is ‘EAT’ and I desperately started going through all my stamps, confident that I would not find any fitting, and that I would have to draw something to fit the bill eventually! But no! To my surprise and relief, I found a set of three very small berry stamps in ‘Twig & Berry Flourish’ stamp set from Kaisercraft. And I immediately set to work!

I started stamping the berries and leaves in Memento Lady Bug and Gray Flannel inks, forming a kind of frame around a card panel. Once I finished, I stamped the greeting using the Fanciful Swirl stamp set from Hero Arts in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then die-cut the panel usingΒ the Curved Matting Basics die from Spellbinders.

When I thought of mounting the panel on the card base, I thought the background was too plain for the panel. I thought of adding another frame in similar red and grey colors. I tried a few options, and then unsatisfied with any of them, I drew a couple of squiggly lines using wax crayons instead – it achieved the effect I desired – simple and adding just that right amount of coverage. πŸ™‚ And so I finally foam mounted the panel on this.

I am submitting this card to the CASology Week #123: EAT and the Muse Challenge #95Β (inspired by the colors used in the Muse’s card)

Thanks for looking! πŸ™‚

    • Thank you so much Caroline. In fact, the idea of picking the colors instead of the layout was something I read in your post itself! I would otherwise, usually go for the layout itself! Thanks for the idea! πŸ™‚

  2. I love how you were inspired by Caroline’s colour scheme! And the crayon frame is genius! Love the look of that! So glad you joined us at Muse this week!

  3. What a clever and inspired idea to do your own frame in crayons! Didn’t realise you had done that until I read your post! Beautifully done and LOVE your sentiment. Need to hunt that one down as it is so apt at this time of the year for us. Lovely card!
