And its time too! Its my first time making a shaker card!! 😀 Even though I’ve thought of making shaker cards multiple times, either they didn’t suite the ideas I had then, or I didn’t have a suitable big enough window. It feels like a card maker has several levels to cross to become top-class, and making a successful shaker card is one of them! 😛 Should I congratulate myself then?! 😀
Here is my first attempt at a shaker card –
I started with a black card panel and started stamping Perfect Medium using a stamp from the Borders & Backgrounds stamp set from WPlus9. I chose a few shades of Perfect Pearls and I applied a shade of Perfect Pearls after each time I stamped. I then die cut the tag shape out from the middle, to form a window, using a die from Timeless tags from WPlus9. Once I completed the stamping and application of Perfect Pearls all over the panel, I misted it lightly with water a few times to set the Perfect Pearls. After trimming the sides a little, I then laid out some sequins on the card base and adhered the black panel on top.
For the sentiment, I first die cut a scrap white card panel using a Sizzix die (forgot the name of the stamp+die set) and then stamped the sentiment from Bokeh Time from JustRite using StazOn black ink, and adhered it directly on top of the shaker window using double sided tape.
This finished my card!
Since this was the first time I made a shaker card, like many other card makers out there, I made my fair share of mistakes – actually, only one – I started adding the foam dots around the window even before I added the transparent sheet! Talk about stupidity! Thankfully I realized it early, corrected it, and finished the card without any major mistakes thereon.
I am submitting this card to Runway Inspired Challenge #73.
Thanks for looking! 🙂
