A Black and Orange Birthday Card

PE: Honorable Mention at The Male Room Challenge

The Male Room Challenge Honorable Mention

Hello! I just finished making this card, and couldn’t wait to share it! πŸ™‚ I was inspired by this card by Erin Lee. I love the simple geometry and the fact that she has used simple colors to provide so muchΒ  definition to her card. I tried CASEing it! Here’s my version of her card –

A Black and Orange Birthday CardI first drew some lines on a black card stock panel, and retraced them on a white card stock panel. I then adhered washi tape I chose on these panels. I then cut the window from the black card stock panel and adhered the washi tape panels using the cut black panels for placement.

A Black and Orange Birthday Card (close up)I then die cut the sentiment from the black panel using Cole’s ABCs from Lawn Fawn. I also cut out a circle using Quickutz Nesting Circles from We R Memory Keepers and stamped ‘to’ using Basic Font from Fiskars and Memento Tangelo ink.

Before foam mounting the black panels on the card base, I adhered a small piece of card stock colored using YR16 Copic marker and adhered it on the card base just below the die cut. Finally I adhered the ‘to’ circle.

That’s it! Clean and simple! πŸ™‚ I am submitting this card to the following challenges –

Hello!

I made this card inspired by Ardyth’s card here. I loved the flowers, the coloring and the combination with black in her card. πŸ™‚ So, here’s my interpretation of it –

HelloI first made the background. I first scribbled a few dots using white crayon. Then colored it using normal watercolors, and spritzing water through a mister. The crayon resisted the watercoloring and added little splotches of white in between. Its very subtle, I liked the effect than plain watercoloring (ask me how I know! ;))

Hello! (close up)Setting it aside to dry, I colored another watercolor paper panel with distress inks Dusty Concord, Wild Honey, Salty Ocean and punched out the flowers. I then stamped the sentiment from Bo Bunny Captured stamp set using Orange pigment ink Color Box. I also watercolored over it using the same ink.

Finally I mounted everything using foam dots and foam tapes on a black card base, and added some clear rhinestones as embellishment. And that finished my card! πŸ™‚

Celebratory Blossoms

Hello! Back with another card. I made it pretty simple this time – in fact I wanted to keep it one layered, but it felt like something was missing (;)), so I ended up with a two-layered one.

Congrats!I first stamped the background using Burlap from Just Rite and Hero Arts Butter Bar, after erasing most of the ink on a sheet, to get a very light image.

I then stamped the flowers and leaves from Full Bloom from Micia using Soft Pool, Soft Cantaloupe and Butter Bar from Hero Arts, overlapping the images, in a triangle formation. Finally I stamped the sentiment from Big Bold You from Winnie & Walter in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Congrats! (close up)

Makes for a pretty pattern paper, don’t you think? πŸ™‚

Up and Away!

Two reasons for making this card – I wanted to try the stamps in Up & Away stamp set from Mama Elephant and also no-line watercoloring. πŸ™‚

Up and Away!I stamped the monkey and the balloons using Antique Linen distress ink on watercolor paper and colored the images using no line watercoloring using Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed and Ripe Persimmon distress inks. I then fussy cut the images. I die cut the frame using Itsy Bitsy Square framelits and stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I fussy cut a cloud stamp from foam sheet. To make the background, I first stamped Burlap from JustRite using Hero Arts Soft Pool ink and then stamped the clouds using using Hero Arts Tide Pool ink. I am in love with this background! πŸ™‚

Up and Away! (close up)I made a shaker card using some sequins from Itsy Bitsy. I drew the balloon strings using my Copic multiliner and then adhered the cute little monkey and the balloons.

WPlus9 Challenge: Get Sketchy with Joni #1

I wanted to play in this challenge – kept going back and forth, back and forth…until finally inspiration came..and how! πŸ™‚

WPlus9 Challenge: Get Sketchy with Joni #1I had this special set of papers with me, which has been there in my stash, I dunno, for a year now..and I’ve used maybe 1 sheet from it….<looking away elsewhere here> Remember I decided it was high time I started using all those things from my stash which are about to grow mushrooms on them – this definitely belongs to that group. Now, that’s one thing off the checklist! πŸ™‚

I stamped that grey wood-textured paper using Violet from ColorBox and Background Builders: Knit (of course, from WPlus9) and adhered this to the card base. I then cut the panel on top using A2 Curved Matting Basics from Spellbinders and adhered the paper on top and trimmed it to size. Then I started the stamping.

WPlus9 Challenge: Get Sketchy with Joni #1 (close up)I stamped the flowers and leaves from Fresh Cut Florals (WPlus9) using Memento inks Lulu Lavender, Sweet Plum, Grape Jelly, Elderberry, London Fog and Grey Flannel and Hero Arts Field Greens. Finally came the sentiment stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I then tied some brown-white-gradient twine around the panel and foam mounted it to the card base.

I love how the grey and purple blend so well together – and I am happy that I tried the combination! πŸ™‚

Muse Challenge 119

PE: Honorable Mention at Muse

MuseIts such a cute card by Joan Bardee this time in Muse Challenge. I fell in love with the card as soon as I say it!! I wanted to CASE it!! πŸ™‚ Here’s her card – And here’s mine – Muse Challenge 119I drew and cut out a butterfly mask from paper and drew it on watercolor paper and heat embossed it in gold. I then used Spun Sugar, Scattered Straw, Picked Raspberry and Antique Linen distress inks to watercolor it. Muse Challenge 119 (close up)I then cut out two pieces of vellum. I stamped the sentiment from Laurels from Avery Elle and also heat embossed it in gold. For the background vellum panel, I drew some dotsΒ  using Unibal signo gold gel pen – I didn’t feel like embossing this. But the pen gives sparkle which shines as brightly as the embossing, without the embossing! πŸ™‚ I am now in love with my card too! πŸ˜€ Thanks for stopping by! πŸ™‚

Foxy Says…

I had originally made this card for the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge #124 – well, almost made it. I had put together everything, but I wasn’t happy and left it on my desk….for a very long time… So long, in fact, that when I finally finished it and showed it to my family, both my mom and my sis asked me if they had already seen the card before! πŸ˜€

Foxy Says...Well, I must say I love the little foxy on this card a lot! I know that there are no yellow foxes, but that is where imagination comes in handy, doesn’t it?! πŸ˜› Although, I don’t wanna image a real yellow fox, one on a card works pretty well! πŸ˜‰

Foxy Says... (close up)I made the background my self. It took a while, but I feel it was totally worth it! I measured the HI and drew it lightly in pencil, and then drew all those geometrical shapes, making it seem like the ‘HI’ is just pulled out from those shapes. After drawing them again in Unibal Signo black gel pen, I erased any pencil lines showing though and water-colored them using Stormy Sky and Weathered Wood distress inks.

For the little foxy, I colored it using Y17 and Y13 Copic markers. The sentiment came from Sentiment Sampler from Paper Smooches.

Love this card! Now, I am submitting this card to the challenge too!! πŸ˜€
