Muse Challenge 119

PE: Honorable Mention at Muse

MuseIts such a cute card by Joan Bardee this time in Muse Challenge. I fell in love with the card as soon as I say it!! I wanted to CASE it!! 🙂 Here’s her card – And here’s mine –

I drew and cut out a butterfly mask from paper and drew it on watercolor paper and heat embossed it in gold. I then used Spun Sugar, Scattered Straw, Picked Raspberry and Antique Linen distress inks to watercolor it.

I then cut out two pieces of vellum. I stamped the sentiment from Laurels from Avery Elle and also heat embossed it in gold. For the background vellum panel, I drew some dots  using Unibal signo gold gel pen – I didn’t feel like embossing this. But the pen gives sparkle which shines as brightly as the embossing, without the embossing! 🙂 I am now in love with my card too! 😀 Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Foxy Says…

I had originally made this card for the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge #124 – well, almost made it. I had put together everything, but I wasn’t happy and left it on my desk….for a very long time… So long, in fact, that when I finally finished it and showed it to my family, both my mom and my sis asked me if they had already seen the card before! 😀

Well, I must say I love the little foxy on this card a lot! I know that there are no yellow foxes, but that is where imagination comes in handy, doesn’t it?! 😛 Although, I don’t wanna image a real yellow fox, one on a card works pretty well! 😉

I made the background my self. It took a while, but I feel it was totally worth it! I measured the HI and drew it lightly in pencil, and then drew all those geometrical shapes, making it seem like the ‘HI’ is just pulled out from those shapes. After drawing them again in Unibal Signo black gel pen, I erased any pencil lines showing though and water-colored them using Stormy Sky and Weathered Wood distress inks.

For the little foxy, I colored it using Y17 and Y13 Copic markers. The sentiment came from Sentiment Sampler from Paper Smooches.

Love this card! Now, I am submitting this card to the challenge too!! 😀

From The Stash #3 & #4

Hello!

A few posts today (yeah, more than normal..). The first of the series stars my cards from the stash – stuff I’ve made for other projects, stored away and not used. I made two cards yesterday –

The background is made from adding watercolor to a bubble sheet. If I remember correctly, this is the second print; here’s the card I made with the first print, which is also, by the way, the first card I made for this series! 😀

The retro camera is also something I made as part of an experiment. I was inspired by this card made by May Sukyong Park for Altenew. Now you know why I didn’t use it at the time! But I still thought it was not so bad, and didn’t wanna throw it. So, its finally seeing the light of the day in this card!

Coincidentally, the colors of the bubble behind each camera matches its background! I was pleasantly delighted when I discovered this! 🙂

And coming to the supplies:

The little starts are die cut from Confetti from Mama Elephant, then covered in Glossy Accents
The camera is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black using the stamp from Captured from Bo Bunny. I also added Glossy Accents to the lens ares 😉
The colors I’ve used on the top panel are Shaded Lilac, Mustard Seed, Peeled Paint, Festive Berries distress inks.
The sentiment stickers from Itsy Bitsy.

And now the second card – I had first adhered everything on a white card base, but couldn’t bring myself to use it, and couldn’t think of any improvements either. Last night, the bulb lit, and I cut the card stock where the strips where adhered and used a brown card base instead. By the way, the card base itself was another experiment – I tried getting it by swiping some ink directly from the ink pad, hoping to get a nice uniform color, but was unable to…. so off it went to the stash! 🙂 Happy that the elements finally look good together

Supplies used:

I used Tweed Pattern from Hero Arts and heat embossed it using clear embossing powder.
Next I cut the piece into strips based on the pattern and colored them using Salty Ocean, Mowed Lawn, Pine Needles, Pumice Stone, Peacock Feathers and Seedless Preserves distress inks.
I then stamped the sentiment from Floral Expressions from Inkadinkado in Memento Summer Sky and then traced it using my Uniball Signo white gel pen.
I finally added some white Enamel Accents for embellishment.

So, how do you like my cards from the stash? 🙂

The Gossip Column with Taheerah: 2: Geometrics

Hello! Have you been to a the Winnie & Walter blog, where Taheerah has started The Gossip Column? Taheerah gives such fantastic unique inspiration! You should stop by!

I was not able to participate in the last one, and so wanted to submit a few cards this time. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to so far, and I am ending up submitting my one and only card for the race!

2015-05-24(3a)

I started with stamping the sentiment from Winnie & Walter Big Bold & Party in Memento Tuxedo Black. I then picked Winnie & Walter’s Scenery: Its a Wonderful Pennant, and chose the two solid triangles for my card. I stamped the teal triangles using Memento Teal Zeal, stamping twice to get the darkest shade and then second and thirds generation stamping to achieve the gradient effect. But when I picked Memento Tangelo, I didn’t get the generation as dark as I wanted, so I picked up Memento Potter’s Clay and Hero Arts Orange Soda for achieving the gradient.

I then trimmed the card panel at an angle and traced it over the black card base. I then added the gold glitter washi tape. Before I adhered the panel on top, I embossed it by drawing lines using a embossing tool and scale (can be seen a little in the second image). And that finished my card! 🙂

Birds on a Branch

I have been cracking my head trying to make a card with this stamp set – its one of the stamp sets I bought when I first started stamping, and as with any other, I thought I’d be able to make a ton of cards with it! Imagine my horror when I realized I had made only one card with it so far!! Mortifying!! And that’s the reason that this stamp set has been on my mind for a couple of weeks now – and finally I managed to make a card I am satisfied with! 🙂

And guess what – yes – more pattern paper!! Hahaha!!! I am so happy! Hmmm…maybe its time I stopped using pattern paper, huh?! I dunno… 🙂

Well, coming back to the card! The stamp set I’ve been talking about is Periwinkle Birds from Kaisercraft. I stamped it in a gradient using Memento inks Pear Tart, Bamboo Leaves and Cottage Ivy. I applied the lightest ink all over, then applied the darker and then the darkest, misted it with the least amount of water possible and stamped it. The sentiment comes from Sentimental stamp set from Penny Black stamped in Cottage Ivy. I drew the design on the bottom of the strip myself and fuzzy cut it. And, of course, the pattern paper – it comes from The Best of K & Company from K & Company.

The pattern paper manages to give the card a kinda vintage look, doesn’t it? 🙂

I am submitting this card to Sovushka Slavia: May CAS Marathon: Step 3 – Animals and Addicted to CAS #64: Animal
