Another for CAS(E) This Sketch #129

Hello! Got a couple of cards –

Another for CAS(E) This Sketch #129I first stamped the background using Stitched Circles by Just Rite and Hero Arts Unicorn White pigment ink. After it dried, I cut out a butterfly mask and started sponging in some ink using distress ink. I used Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, Seedless Preserves.Ended up smudging a little color where I didn’t want it, since my mask was smaller…well, not that visible, I hope! πŸ˜›

I then trimmed the outer edge and then stamped the sentiment from Penny Black Eloquence in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored the background using Weathered Wood distress ink before adhering the panel on top. Finally added some pearls to finish the card.

Another for CAS(E) This Sketch #129 (close up)This time I used Evergreen Bough instead of Tumbled Glass to color the wings. And also, I stamped the background using Weathered Wood, picking off some ink off using a tissue paper before stamping. The sentiment for this card came from Just Rite Lace Vintage Labels #3.

Watercoloring on Card Stock

PE: Winner at CAS Colours & Sketches!! πŸ˜€

CAS Colours & Sketches #130 Winner

Hello!

I’ve tried watercoloing on watercolor paper a lot of times, but till date, I’ve not created a successful watercolored card using card stock. I’ve tried it earlier, of course, and stopped, not liking the results. Each type of card stock reacts very differently to water and to different inks. The one I use absorbs the ink and water very quickly, not allowing color to spread very well, hence the difficulty in normal watercoloing. And what do you do when the cardstock does not respond to your need? Change you need to work with the cardstock! πŸ˜€ Here’s the result –

Watercoloring on Card StockI stamped the flowers from Floral Invitation stamp set by Micia in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then chose Barn Door and Tumbled Glass distress inks and Memento Dandelion ink for coloring. I didn’t have to try very hard for the partial watercolored look you can see in the images, it worked by itself. Even the ink is unevenly spread, giving dark and light areas! The only downside to this technique was that I had to increase the number of times I picked color in the brush by more than twofold.

Watercoloring on Card Stock (close up)When I was done, and the card panel dried, I added the black string, adhered it directly to a black card stock panel, to flatten out the warping and stamped the sentiment from Bo Bunny Captured in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Finally, I adhered this to the card base and added a few black rhinestones to the bigger flowers.

So, how do you like the results? I think this technique needs a little more working from my side, but I do really like the effects. I am definitely gonna try this more! πŸ™‚

CAS(E) This Sketch #129

Hello! Made this card for the CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge #129.

CAS(E) This Sketch #129I used acrylic paints to make the backdrop – I tried to paint it make it look like its dripping from the top. I then die cut the leaves from Anja’s Leaves by Marianne Designs and colored them using Memento Cottage Ivy, Bamboo Leaves by dabbing the ink pads directly on them.

CAS(E) This Sketch #129 (close up)I wanted flowers with petals of different size, but I don’t have a die or a punch like that – so I improvised. πŸ™‚ I first punched out the flowers, so I get a basic shape and then fuzzy cut them to the shapes above. I then punched out the center.

After adhering everything together, I stamped the sentiment from The Big The Bold The Happy and Big Bod and Party by Winnie & Walter using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

And that finished my card. I think I might have made the image on top a little bigger than what’s indicated in the sketch, but I guess its fine by me! πŸ˜›

And here’s the actual sketch –

One Layer + Stamping + Watercoloring

Hello! This is another stamp – which I’ve used – but not, probably, in the way it was intended to. Avery Elle Laurels – I’ve never made a laurel using this stamp set!!! High time I did, right? πŸ˜›

Avery Elle LaurelsI used only distress inks for stamping – Dusty Concord, Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Spun Sugar. Once I stamped, I quickly painted on them using some water. Once all the stamping and watercoloring was done, I spritzed some more water on the whole thing – I wanted a small quantity of color seeped out of the ‘proper’ images – not that visible, but still there. I felt this would give out a more ‘watercolor’y feeling…

Avery Elle LaurelsOnce the entire thing was dry, I stamped the sentiment from WPlus9 Fresh Cut Florals using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then added little dots silver glitter in the flowers’ center. And that finished my simple card. πŸ™‚

Penny Black Gentle Whisper

I brought this stamp along with Penny Black Divine – and while I’ve made a couple of cards using Divine, I’ve made none using Gentle Whisper. So, when I saw the challenge atΒ  The Card Concept, I thought it was just the right time to put it to use! πŸ™‚

Penny Black Gentle WhisperI applied Scattered Straw, Mustard Seed and Pumice Stone on the stamp, misted it and stamped it on a watercolor panel. I then watercolored it, adding some diluted Black Soot wherever I wanted some shading on the Pumice Stone.

Penny Black Gentle Whisper (close up)I then adhered pattern paper from DCWV Christmas & Winter stack and mounted the watercolor panel at an angle and trimmed of the excess. I then drew the banner, stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts All Occasions Messages using Memento Tuxedo Black, fuzzy cut the banner, sponged a bit of Black Soot, and foam mounted it on the card.

So, there’s my very simple card. I am submitting this to The Card Concept challenge

Blue Roses

Hello! Back with another card! While I am not exactly a fan of roses, I feel that blue roses have a certain charm in them – kinda irresistible! πŸ˜‰

Blue RosesThese roses from Altenew Vintage Flowers are just perfect blue roses! πŸ™‚ I used Memento Nautical Blue, Teal Zeal, Summer Sky for the inks. I fuzzy cut them and die cut some leaves from dark grey color paper adhered over cardstock using the leaf die cut from Rose by Elizabeth Craft. After coloring the background usingΒ Heidi Swapp Square Lattice andΒ Squeezed Lemonade distress ink, I stamped some more leaves from the same stamp set using Memento Grey Flannel. I stamped once for some leaves and twice for others, creating a faux look of leaves far away and nearer. I finally adhered all the roses and leaves using foam dots.

Blue Roses (close up)Finally came the sentiment from Penny Black Sentimental stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Did I mention I love those blue roses? πŸ™‚

An Unusual Combination

…of using dies, watercolor and pattern paper.

An unsual combinationThat’s what I feel when I look at this card! It feels like the elements go well together..but then maybe not the exact fit..I guess…. I don’t know how to express it.. πŸ˜›

Well, I used simple watercoloring, cut out a piece of pattern paper from Best of K & Company, cut out the leaf using WPlus9 Folk Art Floral die. The sentiment came from XO by Kaisercraft, which stamped a few times in Memento London Fog ink. They zig-zag in the background is washi tape.
