Runway Inspired Challenge #88

Hello! Back again!! On a roll today, as it seems! ๐Ÿ˜€

I wanted to make something for the RIC this time, but didn’t have any solid ideas – until the last minute, that is! ๐Ÿ˜› I think I made this card in record time! Must have taken roughly 30 minutes – my fastest from idea conception to realization!!

RIC #88From the gorgeous dress of the model, other than maintaining the colors and most of the design, I also wanted to bring a little bit of transparency into my card design – hence the use of vellum. I stamped the blocks from WPlus9 Backgrounds & Borders in Black Soot distress ink and then scribbled the red and yellow using my sketch pens.

The sentiments are from Mama Elephant Happy Script – I used three die cuts to raise it a bit – and Winnie & Walter The Big, The Bold, The Happy – for which I colored the background first using my sketch pen and then stamped in Hero Arts Unicorn white ink.

I first adhered the vellum piece on a black card panel and then foam mounted the panel. Finally added some white rhinestones for embellishment.

In love!! It came out exactly as I imagined! ๐Ÿ™‚

Runner Up at Seize the Birthday

Hello! Back again with another card! ๐Ÿ™‚

CAS(E) This Sketch #134 (case 1)This card has mainly leftovers from my experiments – but the pieces fit in so well together, I just couldn’t resist! ๐Ÿ˜€ The pieces are from die-cutting using Spellbinders Label 24 and Spellbinders Delicate Doily. I then dry embossed the card panel usingย Craft Concepts Grunge Stripes embossing folder and adhered the die cut pieces. The sentiment is fromย Die Versions Celebrate.

PE: Top 3 at Sovushka Slavia!

Sovushka Slavia: Card Sketch #30 Top 3

I’ve been complaining about my missing mojo for some time now. As therapy, I kept visiting my Pinterest cards boards (yes, plural!) And today, I was finally able to make a few cards I am happy with! ๐Ÿ™‚ These cards have been inspired by a couple of cards I found there. Presenting –

Sovushka Slavia: Card Sketch #30My first card is inspired by this card by Torico. I started with one of my favorite products – distress inks. I used Spun Sugar, Shaded Lilac + Stormy Sky, Iced Spruce + Pumice Stone on watercolor paper, than added a few splotches using water. I then drew some random lines on the back of the paper and cut it out. Before adhering this to the card panel, I stamped the sentiment from Winnie & Walter Big, Bold & Party using Black Soot distress inks, and stamped it again over the pieces after adhering them on.

I then drew some lines on back card stock using Uniball Signo white gel pen, and used a stripe of that behind the card panel Finally came the butterfly from Tattered Lace Butterflies dies, and some silver sequins for embellishment.

Die cutting a circle from scrap piece of paper, I colored the circular background using Hero Arts Neon Blue, Memento London Fog, ColorBox Creamy Brown inks. I then stamped the cute little tiger from TPC Studio Jungle in Memento Grape Jelly ink and fuzzy cut it. The sentiment, fromย Winnie & Walter Big, Bold & Party, is stamped using the same ink. I swipedย Memento London Fog on the card base before adhering the card panel. Finally a few wood veneer stars for embellishment complete the card! ๐Ÿ™‚

Tote Bag

Hello! Been some time since I posted something. My mojo which went missing last week is still not found. So, I’ve been whiling away the time. Meanwhile here’s something I did…I think last month. Noticed the name of my blog..ends with ‘etc’? This post here belongs to the ‘etc’ part. The other 99% of my blog posts belong to the part before the etc, which is card-making! ๐Ÿ™‚

PurseSo, my sister and I wanted to do a joint project using our incredible, absolutely amazing fabulous talents ๐Ÿ˜‰ And this is the first of what is, hopefully, many more to follow.

Crochet & Beads closeup

Time to get a bit more realistic now – I stitched this tote using my completely basic stitching knowledge (I can only stitch straight lines, and that is if you discount the 95% of the times it goes haywire! :P). My sister came up with a beautiful circular motif she crocheted. More about that on her blog post here. My job was to somehow attach it to the purse. Before starting I added the big one in the center – its actually a cheap ring I had bought, I straightened the ring and used it like a brad. And I remembered about our big stash of beads which we had bought to make some jewelery projects – and which I haven’t touched ever since (not, my sis though – she has come up with pretty amazing stuff here. I borrowed my Ma’s needle and thread and started joining the motif with the purse using the beads to tie them up, using whatever amateur stitching skills I have (trust me, I am thankful the stitches are completely covered by the beads!! :D). Thankfully, the design came out pretty good! ๐Ÿ™‚

Now, waiting for an opportunity to use it! ๐Ÿ™‚

A few more cards…

PE: Create Something Catchy Super Pick (that means honorable mention! :P)

Suffering from a complete loss of mojo lately – I wish it would come back, from wherever its gone holidaying!! But, in the meantime, I made a few cards from whatever my mojo left behind.. ๐Ÿ˜›

Abstract card ;)

This card couldn’t get any simpler! I just cut out a panel of color paper adhered card stock, adhered a triangular panel on top on which I had scribbled using a black marker. The sentiment from Avery Elle’s Laurels is stamped in Black Soot distress ink. I then embellished it with a bow and heats die cut from wood veneer using Mama Elephant Confetti die and added white Enamel Accents on top.

Tilted FeatherThe second one’s not my favorite, I must admit. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ The background is pattern paper and I die cut the feathers using Spelbinders Feathers die. Handwritten sentiment, and wood veneer embellishment, die cut using Mama Elephant Confetti die. …I do love the pattern paper though! ๐Ÿ˜›

Coffee??For my third card, I used Salty Ocean, Worn Lipstick and Crushed Olive distress inks and did some no line watercoloring on the coffee cup from Micia Tea Time stamp set after first stamping it using Antique Linen distress ink. The talk bubble portion above is hand drawn and fuzzy cut and stencilled using Chevron Mask stencil by Studio Calico using Salty Ocean and Crushed Olive distress inks. The sentiment is handwritten.

Sovushka Slavia: Card Sketch #29: Guest Designer

Hello! I am the Guest Designer for Sovushka Slavia: Card Sketch #29!! Wow! The week couldn’t get any better!! So so happy, I am jumping!! ๐Ÿ˜€

I tried a couple of ideas before I finalized on this card –

Sovushka Slavia: Card Sketch #29: GDI stamped the flowers from Altenew Hannah Elements using Back Soot distress ink and colored them using ColorBox pigment inks. I then fuzzy cut the pieces and darkened the outlines using a black pen. Now, since there were so many flowers and only one leaf, I wanted the background to have a leaf pattern. But then, I didn’t want it to stand out too much either, so I made the background by repeat stamping the leaf from the same set using Memento London Fog ink. Sovushka Slavia: Card Sketch #29: GD (close up)

I then stamped the sentiment from Avery Elle Laurels stamp set then heat embossed it silver and cut out a fishtail. I then adhered the flowers and the sentiment piece, making multiple layers of the flowers. I finally added clear rhinestones in the flower centers as embellishment. ๐Ÿ™‚

Stop by the challenge to see the fantastic cards made by the design team too! And here’s the card sketch –

Many cards!

Hello! Another (and last) installment of my cards –

Painted FlowersFor this card, I started with stamping the flowers from Altenew Painted Flowers in Black Soot distress ink. For coloring the flowers, I used Hero Arts Neon inks Blue, Pink and Purple and MFT Abstract Art stamp set. After adding a few more leaves and buds, I also added a few black and grey dots around the flowers. I then added a few debossed lines. The sentiment is from Just Rite Vintage Labels #3. I used MFT Pinstripes and Black Soot distress ink for the background.

HelloI used the same Altenew Painted Flowers stamp set and Black Soot distress ink, but used Hero Arts Neon Blue, Memento Lulu Lavender and Olive Green distress ink for coloring. I also colored the buds with a q-tip and Memento Grape Jelly. I created the background using Memento Grape Jelly and MFT Pinstripes. I cut the sentiment using WPlus9 Hand Lettered Hello, colored it black. After adhering all the pieces, I added Glossy Accents on the sentiment and the flower centers and some sequins to finish the card.

Layering Attempts #3Mostly listing out the supplies here :). I stamped the background using Hero Arts Leaf & Floral Background and Memento New Sprout ink. I then colored a card stock with Hero Arts Tide Pool ink and used Spellbinders Delicate Doilies to die cut a doily. I then cut out three butterflies using Tattered Lace Butterflies; colored the first one using Victorian Velvet, Fired Brick, left the second one white and the third one using Fired Brick distress inks. I fussy cut out a pocket from K & Company pattern paper. the sentiment comes from The Craft’s Meow stamp set stamped in Black Soot distress ink.
