#351 – Muse Inspired

PE: Muse Christmas Versions Winner!

Hello! I made two cards yesterday inspired by the Muse Challenges –

Muse Christmas Version 26My first card is inspired by the Muse Christmas Version #26. Birgit has made two cards for double the inspiration and I picked a bit of both cards to make this one! 🙂 The tree’s colors are inspired by Birgit’s first card and the owl by the second. I also used a panel instead of the frame in her second card.

I made this card by first die cutting a panel using Spellbinders A2 Curved Matting Basics and stamped the trees using Simon Says Stamp One With Nature and colored them the same color as the background in Birgit’s first card – blue, green, red and brown – using Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens. I then stamped the owl from Clearly Besotted Woodland Kisses with the addition of a hand-drawn hat, colored it using Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens and fuzzy cut it. I then used a scrap piece of card stock to stamp the sentiment using Paper Smooches Alphadot and Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then assembled all the pieces together. I also added a bit of ‘snow’ on the tree tops using Fevicryl 3d outliner and some Fevicryl glitter stickles.

My second card is for the Muse Challenge #319, where Tracey McNeely has provided us a really pretty CAS and flowery inspiration –

And here’s my card – I used the same color scheme, layout, sentiment/occasion and even sequins as my inspiration!

Muse Card Challenge 139I used Penny Black Gentle Whisper, colored using Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens (and misted, of course) to stamp the flower and leaves on a card panel. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Its Your Day which I stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. Love the simple card! 🙂

Thank you so much for stopping by! 🙂

#350 – Color Throwdown Guest Designer

Hello!

After being the winner for the challenge #364 for this card of mine, I was asked to be the guest designer to their one of their next challenge. I am most excited and honored!! Its just wonderful to be a part of the challenge that I look forward to every week!! 😀

So, the color scheme for Color Throwdown Challenge #366 is rust, aqua and gray –

Color Throwdown #366This was a difficult color scheme for me. To be honest, I find anything, with I can’t make flowers to be difficult! 😛 So, I chose the next best thing – butterflies!! 😀

Color Throwdown Guest DesignerI started with sponging Pumice Stone and Tumbled Glass distress inks and sponged the same inks over Penny Black Trailing Vines to create some pretty background. I then trimmed it to shape and mounted it on a white card base using foam tape. I then fuzzy cut a butterfly out of K & Company pattern paper.

Hmm..something still feels missing. I added a couple of pearls on the butterfly….but still lacking.. I then added dashed lines using Inktense color pencil – I wanted the lines to be soft, to match the butterfly and the background. Now it felt complete! 😀

Of course, the sentiment was still missing. I stamped the sentiment from Just Rite Bokeh Time using Pumice Stone distress ink. And that finished my card!

Please do stop by the Color Throwdown challenge blog to see for yourself the fantastic creations by the DT. And, of course, participate!! 😀

Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

#349 – Christmas Lights

Hello! Yet another Christmas card. 🙂

I love it when I can pull out more uses from a stamp (or a die or a stencil or anything else! ;)) When I got Simon Says Stamp One With Nature last week, I had already seen plenty of wonderful examples for using this stamp. I figured out one more! 😉

Christmas LightsI used them as Christmas lights! Now I didn’t want to use the traditional colors. I used Memento inks Bahama Blue, Danube Blue, Lilac Posies and Grape Jelly to color stamp the insides of the lights. For the background too, I didn’t want a soft blue. I experimented with colors until I was satisfied with the combination of red and yellow. And so, I colored the background using Ripe Persimmon and Mustard Seed distress inks as watercolors. I also added a few splatters of the Grape Jelly, Ripe Persimmon and Mustard Seed.

Once things were dry, I added loads of clear Wink of Stella glitter to the lights and stamped the other part of the lights – the boundary and the lines using Memento Tuxedo Black. I then extended the lines to the top of the card using a black pen and also added bows on the very top. Finally I stamped the sentiment from Bo Bunny Sentiments in Memento Tuxedo Black too.

And that finished my simple but colorful Christmas card! 🙂

#348 – Birthday Card

Hello! I made this card for a friend’s birthday next month – need to post it yet – and haven’t published it yet – so now is a good time as ever!

Shridhar's Birthday (1)I cut out a watercolor paper panel and used Simon Says Stamp Birthday Bits along with Spiced Marmalade, Worn Lipstick and Dusty Concord distress inks to color and stamp the balloons and the bow. I then colored the balloons’ background using the same color trio. Then I stamped the designs, the string and the knot on each balloons in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.I also stamped the sentiments using the same ink.

Shridhar's Birthday (2)For the background, I chose one of the stamps from Paper Trey Ink Square Prints and stamped it using Memento Grape Jelly on grey card stock. I then mounted the watercolor panel on top. I then added teeny-tiny dots of silver glitter randomly as accents. And that finished my card.

I used the same stamp set and images as the card on the envelope too – but I only used Memento Tuxedo Black ink there. I then added the dots using a black pen.

Hope my friend likes it! 🙂 Please leave some comments if you did! 🙂

#347 – Diwali Cards

Hello! Its going to be my favorite time of the year soon! Diwali is near!! 😀

I’ve been pretty silent over the last week since I was busy with these diwali cards. I made 6 cards, choosing a base of glittery designer papers from DCWV and added a diya on top of each card, along with the sentiment. Of course, I did make my own envelops and decorated them too! 🙂

Here’s the entire set (there are 5 cards shown here since there are two of the brown theme ones)

#346 – Sovushka Slavia Autumn CAS Marathon and Best CAS Card maker

Hello! Quite a big announcement for me to make – I got chosen as one of the toppers in Sovushka Slavia Autumn CAS Marathon!! How cool is that!!

On account of this, the toppers and winners have also been graciously invited to another challenge they are hosting – BEST CAS CARDMAKER 2015. We are automatically qualified to the second round!! Isn’t that sweet!!! Wow! A big thanks to all the wonderful ladies at Sovushka Slavia!!

As a part of the challenge, we are asked to share a little about ourself and when and why we are enthusiastic style CAS + show 5 or more CAS cards. So, here goes –

003I am a software engineer by profession and just started card making around May last year. I got addicted very soon. Although I started with interest in a variety of styles but recently, I have taken a special interest in CAS cards. I found CAS cards to be especially beautiful and also difficult for me to make, since I’ve been used to adding all sorts of embellishment and also covering the entire surface of my cards! Inspiration comes mostly from other card makers and challenges to me and have been a constant source of improvement for me.

Here are a few CAS cards I’ve made recently (click on the image to go to the blog). I’ve tried really hard to choose cards that I’ve not submitted to Sovushka Slavia challenges! Hope you enjoy! –

#345: Sovushka Slavia: Guest Designer!

Hello!! I am so so pleased to announce that its my second time as a guest designer over at Sovushka Slavia!! Over the moon!! 😀

So, I was asked to make a card by having the sketch for the Card Sketch Challenge #36 as the inspiration –Card Sketch 36I got so excited, I made two cards. I was getting ready to get started on a third one, when I stopped myself – it was midnight and I had to sleep! 😛

Well, here are the cards –

Sovushka Slavia CK36 GD (1)For my first card, I used pattern paper I designed. Yes, I designed! 😀 I made some digital files and got them printed. Don’t get me wrong, I still love those designer papers we get from all those fabulous companies out there, but sometimes, I feel like having a particular design, and this was the best way of getting it for me.

So, moving on, I adhered the pp on the card base, then cut another piece of white card at an angle, so that it gave me the shape you see. I then adhered the pp again over some scrap card stock and die cut the flowers using Paper Smooches Dainty Flowers. I then die cut the sentiment ‘you’ using Lawn Fawn Cole’s ABCs from some black card stock and also black foam. After I stamped the second sentiment from Reverse Confetti All About You in Memento Tuxedo Black, I adhered all the pieces together. I then added some pearls and black sequins as embellishment and also some glossy accents over the ‘you’.

Sovushka Slavia CK36 GD (2)For my second card, I chose pp from Bo Bunny Pin Cushion for the card base. For the other panel, I stamped Just Rite Burlap in Hero Arts Butter Bar on a white pane, stamped the sentiment from Micia Friendship Forever in Memento Tuxedo Black on it. I then adhered this on a white panel that I had cut to size, added the washi strip and added a few splotches of black distress paint. I then swiped the Hero Arts Butter Bar ink on some scrap cardstock and die cut the flowers and leaf using Ellen Hutson Wild Garden. I then adhered all the pieces together and added some gold and black rhinestones as embellishment.

So, please stop by the Sovushka Slavia blog, and give some love there too! 🙂 And do tell me how you like these cards! 🙂

Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
