#341 – RIC Inspired

Hello!

Until recently, I used to get bugged when I couldn’t think of anything to submit to a challenge I particularly wanted to participate in. I don’t anymore – heck, if I can’t come up with something, I just can’t! And this was the case with the newest challenge at Runway Inspired Challenge – I just wasn’t able to come up with something (that I could be happy with, of course! ).

That was until I saw the latest feature of Hello, Monday over at the Ellen Hutson blog/youtube. Julie Ebersole gave a fantastic idea – of using pigment ink to make background. I just had to try it! And it just fit the bill perfectly with the model’s dress! Yay!! 😀

I picked up my Color Box pigment ink and started swiping them on a white card panel, starting from the center and moving up while staying as close as possible to the color variations on the model’s dress. Pigment inks are indeed the best to use here, but since I didn’t own any light blue ones, I substituted with Hero Arts Soft Pool ink.

After I was done, I trimmed the panel and added a stripe of blue washi tape on the card base (I wanted more of the blue from the model’s top) before mounting it on top. For the sentiment, I die cut a white scrap panel using Paper Smooches Happy Birthday die, and before removing it, added a few dashes (?) of yellow and black using sketch pens – to resemble the splattered paint in the picture’s background. I then adhered the sentiment and also some metallic sequins to embellish.

Oh, I love how it has turned out! 😀
