#408 – Smile!

PE: The Card Concept Winner!! πŸ˜€

The Card Concept - Challenge Winner

Made this card late last evening. This is one of the cards that came out better than I thought… and totally love the monochrome –

I first cut out a card panel using a die from Mama Elephant So Fancy. I then stamped My Favorite Things Lacy Background using Antique Linen distress ink, after misting it with a little water. I then stamped the flowers from Simon Says Stamp Summer Garden using Hero Arts Cup O’Joe, Paper Trey Ink Classic Kraft and Hero Arts Soft Granite inks. I also stamped one each of the flowers and a few leaves on a scrap piece of card stock and die cut them using the co-ordinating dies.

After mounting the flowers, I came to the sentiment – both the stamp and the die are from the Paper Trey Ink Wet Paint 3 stamp and die combination. For the die cut, I swiped Hero Arts Cup O’Joe on a scrap piece of card stock and then die cut it. For mounting it, I first thought of using black foam, but decided against it – I thought it would disturb the ‘sepia’ harmony, and instead I went for stacking die cut pieces from my watercolor paper, which is off white. The second, smaller sentiment is stamped using Hero Arts Cup O’Joe too.

Finally adhered a few copper sequins as embellishment. And that’s my card. Submitting it to the following challenges – Just Add Ink #296: Just Add Nature, Fusion Challenge: Woodgrain Neautral and The Card Concept #47: Floral Elegance

By the way, I also made another card using the same stamp for a friend’s birthday. This card is inspired by this card by the awesomeΒ Nina Marie Trapini.Β  I used Hero Arts Its Your Day for the sentiment. I used white pigment paint from Camel drawing inks and usedΒ Deco Art Glamour Dust Ultra Fine Glitter Paint in silver to color the flowers’ center –

Birthday Wishes (Card)

And of course, the handmade envelope too. I used Memento Tuxedo Black for stamping and Deco Art Glamour Dust Ultra Fine Glitter Paint in gold to color the flowers’ center –

#407 – Hello

PE: ColourQ Courtier!!

ColourQ - Honorable Mention

Hello! My second card for the day…

The problem with a growing stash – you start forgetting what you already own – and I hate it when that happens. I believe strongly in using everything I own, so I really don’t like it when I forget that I own something. But that’s exactly what happened with the Hoop die, from Neat and Tangled, that I own. I completely forgot that I own it, until I was going through my Pinterest board for inspiration and found this card by Hussena (its a fabulous card, isn’t it! :D). Well, that made me pick up the die, and come up with this card –

I first die cut the front panel using the Hoop die. Keeping this aside, I word on the card base. After tracing the outline of the hoop, I stamped the flowers from Neat and Tangled Hand Stitched. I used Memento Dandelion, Paper Trey Ink Winter Wisteria and Paper Trey Ink Simply Chartreuse inks. I then water-colored them using the same inks.

Leaving that to dry, I stamped the hoop using the hoop image in the same stamp set (yes, it does not fit, but I stamped it anyway – I love the ‘wood’ feeling it gives when I stamp it in brown! :D) I used Hero Arts Cup O’Joe ink to stamp multiple times and also water color it. I then adhered a piece of acetate behind the die cut panel and adhered the hoop, finally adhered this on the card base. Oh, I forgot, I had already trimmed the panel and rounded the corners before that. Once I adhered it on, I felt the panel was too white – I wanted something on it. Yeah too late to think that, but I went ahead with stamping the same flower using Paper Trey Ink Fine Linen, after stamping it off once.

Finally, I adhered the sentiment, die cut using Memory Box Hello die cut from black card stock. The butterfly is from the same stamp set – a left over actually, but I liked it on this card. πŸ™‚

Thinking back, I could have easily made this into a shaker card, but I didn’t want it to be one… Yeah, I guess it is still ok! πŸ˜›

#406 – The Doodle Look

The card this time is inspired by this card I found. I loved the doodled look and the simple coloring in this card, giving it a very ‘handmade’ look. And I tried to replicate that look here –

With Love - The doodle look

I used Memory Box Texture Rhapsody stencil and outlined whatever I could using my Uniball Signo black gel pen. Since this stencil doesn’t actually cover a whole (standard) card panel, I had to trim quite a bit from the sides. Anyway, I just loved the doodle look I got from this stencil – really beautiful1 πŸ™‚

I then colored the panel using Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens. I didn’t try to get a perfect coloring, as such, its a little blotched, not neatly colored, but that’s just what I wanted – a fuzzy look! πŸ˜€ I then die cut a circle from scrap cardstock using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles and adhered it directly over the card panel. For the sentiment, I used Spellbinders Sentiments 3, die cut it from black card stock and foam, adhered them and a couple of hearts wood veneers from Studio Calico. I then adhered this on the white card base.

#405 – Guest Designer at Merry Monday!!

Hello! I was granted the opportunity to feature as Guest Designer over at Merry Monday Challenge after I won one of their previous challenges.

The challenge this time is to make a one layer Christmas card.

Merry Monday Challenge Graphic

And here’s mine –

Merry & Bright

To make this card, I first stamped the falling snow, using the stamp from Paper Trey Ink Good Times mixing Hero Arts Soft Pool and Tide Pool inks. I then stamped the happy snowman, from Paper Smooches Swanky Snowdudes, using Antique Linen distress ink and then colored him using Faber Castell Polychromos color pencils. I also colored the snow he’s standing on using the pencils. I finally stamped the sentiment from Paper Trey Ink ‘Tis The Season using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Merry & Bright

Finally I added a bit of sparkle using Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen. I touched a few of the falling snowflake dots, the sentiment and the snowman. A little glitter looks really awesome (yeah, it doesn’t show at all in these images, but it really is beautiful IRL)! Made me think that there really was snow on the card! πŸ˜‰

Well, that’s my card! Very simple, very easy! πŸ™‚

#404 – CAS On Sunday Guest Designer

Hello! I was very graciously offered a chance to participate as Guest Designer in CAS On Sunday Challenge after winning one of the last challenges. The theme is Paper Piecing.

Now, I must admit, I’ve never tried this, I’ve always tried to avoid paper piecing – I just can’t add pattern paper to images which I feel need coloring. So, I went with something that I thought is actually meant to work with pattern paper – Origami.

CAS On Sunday GD

I used birds from Altenew Orikami stamp set and pattern paper from K & Company. I stamped the birds in Memento Tuxedo Black and fussy cut them out. I then brushed the sides using a black marker.

I adhered the card base with a dark reddish brown color paper. I trimmed a white card stock panel, stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set using Memento Tuxedo Black and embossed it using Spellbinders Flora embossing folder. I then adhered the birds and foam mounted it on the card base.

I thought of adding sequins, but then remembered this was supposed to be a CAS card (:P) and left it at that! πŸ˜€

Hope you liked the card! Make sure you participate in the challenge. The design team has provided some fantastic inspiration too. Hope over!

And here’s my card as the GD –

Warm Wishes

This is one card that came out better than I had imagined! πŸ˜€

I first stamped the Neat & Tangled Warm Wishes, centering as much as possible, and heat embossed it in silver. I colored usingΒ Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens. I then added a circle frame using two circle dies from We R Memory Keepers Quickutz Nesting Circles. I also created a mask by cutting scrap paper using the smaller circle and used the negative to sponge some Tumbled Glass distress ink. I then stamped the stars fromΒ Just Rite Bokeh Time on top and bottom and also heat embossed it in silver. And that finished my card! πŸ™‚

Hope you liked the card as much as I did, real easy to make too! πŸ™‚ Also, do stop by the One Layer Christmas Challenge – you are sure to get inspired by the fabulous DT there! πŸ™‚

#402 – Always and Forver

PE: CAS(E) This Sketch Honorable Mention

Hello! I have a treasure of cards that I actually like so much that I want to CASE it, even when there is no challenge which calls for it! πŸ˜› But, being the lazy person I am, I never do it, unless I have an actual reason to. Go figure! πŸ˜€ I got my chance to CASE this fabulous card by Venessa Menhorn this time. And this is my version of it –

Always & Forever

I first marked out and cut out the negative in the mid of a card panel. Then, on the base, I stamped all the ‘&’s using the same stamp set as Venessa – Paper Trey Ink Great Ampersand. I used Memento Lilac Posies, Memento Dandelion, Memento Tuxedo Black and Hero Arts Tide Pool for stamping. I then stamped the ‘always’ and ‘forever’ in Memento Tuxedo Black and adhered the panels using foam tape. I barely took 15 minutes, maybe even less, and out comes a beautiful CAS card! Love when that happen! πŸ˜€
