#398 – Cupcake Birthday

Hello!

I originally made this card to submit to both Timeout and Addicted to CAS challenges, but the thought that the card wasn’t CAS came to me too late – at least I haven’t submitted it to Addicted to CAS yet! Instead, I have another challenge I can submit it to…

Cupcake Birthday

For this card, I prepared the background by first blending Wild Honey, Tattered Rose, Milled Lavender and Shaded Lilac distress inks. Now I wanted a little more than just an ombre background. I considered embossing, but decided against it – I wanted the focus to be on the ombre, and I wanted to highlight it somehow. But I did want to do some repeat stamping, using the ‘Birthday Wishes’ sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Birthday Bits.

So here’s what I did – I first stamped the sentiment repeatedly in Hero Arts Unicorn white pigment ink. I then applied shades of Perfect Pearls on it – thankfully, I had just the right colors which blended with the colors. This gave me a kind-of hologram like shine – love it! 😀

For the front panel, I cut a square panel using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Squares and stamped the cupcake from Mama Elephant Carnival Cupcakes in Antique Linen distress ink. I then colored the cupcake using Faber Castell Polychromos color pencils. I then stamped the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Birthday Bits in Memento Tuxedo Black. I then added some gold string behind the panel and foam mounted it on the ombre background. I also added a few multicolor sequins. And that finished my card!

Submitting this to Timeout Challenge #47 with the theme of ‘Birthdays with the optional Technique Twist of adding sponging’ and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Ombre.
