Its time for the next round of CASometry Challenge #2 – or rather, for my submission to the challenge π If you don’t know about it yet, its this wonderful CAS challenge run by Umichka, where she has 5 rounds per challenge. And the challenge this time is Make 5 – make 5 CAS cards using a single stamp set. And the plus point – you can join in any time!
I actually made this card even before I made the last card (by the way, you can see my previous submissions here, here and here) but I had decided that it would be my 4th card. So, here it is –
For this card, I got heavily inspired by this card made by this card by the amazing Lydia Evans (I think she has made a few more, using the same technique, but I don’t have the links right now). Its really amazing, how the image goes from stamped to sketched. I wanted to try something similar for a long time, but didn’t know which stamp set/image to select. WPlus9 Happy Mail seems like a pretty good choice! π
Using a plain white card stock panel, I stamped the critters and the banner using Memento London Fog and sketched everything using grey and black color pencils from my Faber Castell Polychromos color pencils set. I then drew the sticks holding the banner up, the ground and grass and then stamped the rest of the sentiment, from Hero Arts All Occasion Messages using the same ink, and again went over it using the pencils. I then trimmed the panel and mounted it over a gray card base.
Conclusion: I am really happy I tried it!! I’ve always liked drawing and sketching and I like how this one has come out…hmm.. but yeah, I have to work on the lighting – the lights and the shadows a bit. π In this card, the light is supposed to be on the top right corner – can you make it out??

Love this monochromatic card Ashwini, your sketching skills are fantastic, and I thought you wrote the sentiment as well, but then re-read to understand that you went over with a pencil. Love it.
