#572 – Diwali Cards

Hello! Posting all my new year cards reminded me that I had never published the Diwali cards!! And it has been months too!! Better late than never, so I am posting about these cards now –

Diwali 2016 Cards

As usual, I went with a “One Design Multiple Cards” approach. For these cards, I used a pattern paper base, with vellum on top, with heat embossed ‘diya’ and the sentiment on it.

Diwali 2016 Card 1

I first cut out the vellum pieces and drew out the ‘diya’ on each of them using a pencil. I then used Ranger Emboss It pen to draw on the sketch and then add gold emboss it. I also stamped the sentiment with the diya and gold heat embossed the same.

The pattern papers are all from DCWV Serenity stack. I chose different patterns from this stack, trimmed each and after adhering them on the card bases, I cut out the vellum pieces to size, and used little bits really thin (yeah, very difficult to cut off!!) of double sided tape, then adhered them to the very edge of the vellum, and adhered it to my card. To cover up the tape, I used gold glitter stickles. 😉 I also added the glitter to the center of the flames, just for a bit of extra sparkle.

Diwali 2016 Card 3

For the envelopes, I used the same stamp sets, but stamped them with a kraft ink – my gold ink pad had dried and I couldn’t use it.. 😦 But I did draw the diya using Unibal Signo gold pen, and added a strip of gold patterned washi tape on each envelope, since I really did want some gold on the envelope too! 🙂

Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

  1. All 3 are beautiful and festive. The joy of Diwali is very vividly visible with the gold. Totally awesome cards, better late than never!

    • If I am not giving it to my family or friends, I store up the good ones until I have an occasion to give them, or discard the ones that I don’t like much 🙂
