As You See It - Featured Artist

Stampin’ Royalty Top Pick!!

Stampin' Royalty Winner

Hello! I’ve been away for quite some time – except for a few scheduled DT posts, I’ve been doing nothing! But not behind the scene.. I was busy making a few cards for my dear ones, who have birthdays and anniversary next month. And me, I had to make and re-make the cards a million times before I was happy… and that took a lot of time! 😀 And when I finally did make some cards I could post, I fell ill, couldn’t take any photos of my cards, and when I recovered, the challenges I had made them for were all over! Just my luck! But I am just posting them here, hoping they’ll be applicable for a few other challenges..

So Very Thankful

I made both my cards using Concord and 9th Lace Leaf stamp set. For my first card, I chose three shades of green. Stamped them using MISTI, then the messy background, spread it with a wet paintbrush. I then die cut the panel twice, a bigger rectangle and a smaller square. I then stamped the sentiment inside, then adhered these pieces on the card base, foam mounting the mid die cut. Finally, some Nuvo Crystal Drops Gloss White for embellishing to finish the card.

So Very Thankful

National craft month

For my second card, I went with green, gold and black – so charming! 🙂

So Very Thankful

The bottom most leaf was an experiment with FlitterGlu and foil, the second one, black ink on vellum, the third, gold embossing on vellum. To finish the card, I fussy cut the leaves and adhered them together using double sided tape, mounted the leaves and then the sentiment using foam tape. I then added some drops of Nuvo Crystal Drops Bright Gold, then added a gold line frame using Uniball Signo gold gel pen.

So Very Thankful

#600 – Seize the Birthday – Vellum

Hello and welcome to a new challenge at Seize the Birthday! The topping this time is one of my favorite – Vellum! There are so many many ways to use this spectacular, versatile medium – just check out the STB blog and you’ll know! 😉

Seize The Birthday - The Toppings

But, if you not a fan of vellum like I am, you could definitely go for a project without it, just make sure to make it birthday themed, and join us!

Seize The Birthday - Anything Goes

Here’s my inspiration for you –

Make A Wish

This card uses a simple scripty background, I used Cloud9 Border Patterns stamp, white heat embossed over kraft cardstock panel, over which I adhered vellum, on which I white heat embossed Penny Black Dazzler images. These images are so pretty!! The sentiment, both stamp and die, are from Paper Trey Ink Good Times. I used paper from an old book for the die cut sentiment. Foe embellishing, I used some pearls.

Make A Wish

You can be sure to find some more amazing ideas from our very talented Surprise Party Guest Anita Bowden and the rest of the creative DT over at the Seize the Birthday blog. So, do play along! 🙂

#599 – Seize the Birthday – Color Splash

Hello! And it time for yet another challenge at Seize the Birthday! The topping this time is to create a Color Splash project. Well, basically, use black and white with one other color in your project.

Seize The Birthday - The Toppings

You still do have the choice of joining us with just a Birthday themed card, if Color Splash is not your style! 😉

Seize The Birthday - Anything Goes

Here’s my inspiration using Color Splash with Purple color for you –

Birthday Wishes

I first stamped and black heat embossed Penny Black Flower Cascade on water color paper, then colored it with Gansai Tambi watercolors. Once it dried, I die cut this panel using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle and then mounted this on a black card base. I followed up with sentiment die cuts from Memory Box Birthday Script, which I cut from scrap watercolor paper colored using the same purple and Lawn Fawn Cole’s ABCs, cut from black card stock.

Birthday Wishes

So come join the fun with the rest of the DT and our Surprise Party Guest Anita Bowden at the Seize the Birthday blog! 🙂

#598 – Have A Beautiful Day

PE: Top at Lesia Zgharda Texture Challenge!

Lesia Zgharda - Top

Hello! I am steadily getting into the mixed media vibe now-a-days. I’ve been looking at quite a few videos, and loving it. Although most of these involve scrapbooking, it is relatively easy to incorporate the same techniques into card making too (duh) and am thinking trying out a few techniques I learnt like that here and there in my cards.

The card I am featuring today, has a small amount of mixed media. Although, the main focus when I made the card was the pretty texture in the background, I am a little afraid it is lost in the sentiment and the frame and flowers.

Have A Beautiful Day

Actually, I had made the textured background quite some time ago, meaning to use it for another challenge, but never did. I used embossing paste, created a circled and swirly look. I added some watercolors on this. Then stamped it with the leaves from Ellen Hutson Mondo Peony, then foam mounted the frames and flowers from Paper Smooches Scalloped Frames and Dainty Flowers. The sentiment from Ellen Hutson Mondo Peony is stamped on acetate, layered with some green tone washi tape strips, strung together with an eyelet and a string (bow), and foam mounted.

Have A Beautiful Day

I just love the swirly background, just wish I could have shown it off a bit more. But the card in itself looks fine, I guess. 🙂

Happy Little Stampers Winner!!! Triple yay!!

Happy Little Stampers - Watercolour Winner Badge

Hello! I made this card to send to my crafty friend Helen Gullet quite some time ago, and now that she has received it, I thought of publishing the details in my blog! 🙂

Hello

I wanted a sort of messy, sort of vague look for this card. Since the Altenew Beautiful Day stamp set had a great combination of both solid and layer stamp (to give the suggestion of flowers), I used that. Of course, there are lots of other stamps like these, but this stamp set had the biggest flowers of them all in my stash. And I wanted to do lots of coloring too! 🙂

Hello

So, I started with stamping the flowers, first with distress ink, since I wanted a splotchy look, and then with Versamark Watermark ink and then heat embossed them clear. Same for leaves. I then watercolored them using Zig brush markers. Once dry, I added a few splatters using my Camel Drawing inks.

Hello

The sentiments are from Avery Elle Laurels and Altenew Beautiful Day. I used the same stamp sets for my handmade envelope too.

#596 – A Bit of Pattern Paper, A Bit of Acetate

Hello! I have been trying a few favorite media, mixing and matching them. My source of inspiration is still the challenges going on for the Winnie and Walter 3rd Birthday Celebrations.

Thanks For Everything

I used pattern paper, then some handmade pattern paper using the stripes from Scenery: Stripes (I swiped the ink pads here, instead of dabbing the ink) and then acetate, on which I head embossed gold ep after stamping the gems from My Precious stamp set. Oh, I used Zig two way glue behind the gems for adhering the acetate – I applied it, let it dry and become tacky before adhering it.

Thanks For Everything

After adhering the pieces on the card base, I used the banner from The Big, the Bold and Extras, and sentiment stamps, fussy cut them, adhered them on the card.

Thanks For Everything

This card goes to the following challenges from the Winnie and Walter 3rd Birthday CelebrationsMood Board Challenge with Heather P (chose the main colors from the mood board), Pattern-Making Challenge with Mayuri and Three Challenge with Shay (I’ve got three sheets in the background; three words forming the sentiment)

#595 – Grateful Butterflies

Hello! Its been quite some time since I joined a couple of challenges that I used to joined in so often. I just thought last month that I would love to at least have a few challenges that I would try my best not to miss. Made this card for two such challenges –

Grateful

I used MFT Lace Background, embossed it with black embossing powder, blended in some Faded Jeans distress ink. Once the background was dry, I diecut the butterflies from MFT Flutter of Butterflies and then added the sentiment from MFT Geometric Greenery on top.

Grateful
