#636 – Red, Green and White Birthday

PE: Timeout Challenge Honorable Mention!

Time Out Challenge - Honorable Mention

Hello! I made a simple, one layered card using repeat stamping and just two colors –

Happy Birthday

I stamped the images from Simon Says Stamp Look for the Miracles using Memento Tuxedo Black and colored them using Zig brush pens. Surprisingly, the ink doesn’t bleed.. even though Memento inks are actually reactive with water, they don’t bleed with the Zigs.. don’t know why, but happy it works well! πŸ™‚

Happy Birthday

The sentiment comes from WPlus9 Banner Basics stamp set, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black too. I kept the card a simple, one layer, without any embellishing.

#635 – The Right Cat-itude

PE: CAS(E) This Sketch Favorite!! Wow!! πŸ˜€

CASE This Sketch - Honorable Mention

Hello! Made this thinking of practicing my critter coloring, but, it didn’t end with any sort of proper practice, except if you consider that messy coloring can be a practice (though not on the critter!!) πŸ˜‰

The Right Cat-itude

I stamped all the images, from My Favorite Things Cat-itude stamp set, on scrap cardstock, fuzzy cut and colored them all using Zig Brush pens. The frame is die cut using Paper Smooches Scallop Frame die. I then adhered them using double sided tape and, the frame inset using glue.

#634 – Coffee Loving Friends

Hello! I am back with another card for the Coffee Loving Card Makers’ Summer Blog Hop 2017 (here’s my first card)! This time, I am using something I bought a couple of weeks ago, but hadn’t used yet – Waffle Flower Bear and Bird stamp set. Such a cute stamp set, I just loved it the moment I saw it!

Here’ what I made –

Coffee and Friends

I first die cut a watercolor paper panel using Paper Trey Ink Center Style: Femine die, then stamped my images using Antique Linen distress inks. I then colored it Prima watercolor pencils.Β  Finally came the sentiment, from My Favorite Things Clearly Sentimental About Coffee stamp set, which I stamped using Hero Arts Charcoal ink.

Coffee and Friends

I chose a pale yellow cardstock as the card base, and added texture to it using Lawn Fawn Stitched Borders dies, then foam mounted the watercolor panel on top.

#633 – A Cup of Love

Hello! Its been a long time since I made something coffee/tea themed, and since the Coffee Loving Cardmakers’ Summer Blog Hop is going on, I thought it the perfect opportunity to get going! πŸ™‚

A Cup of Love

Following the sketch from the latest MFT Sketch Challenge, I first colored the base using My Favorite Things Chunky Herringbone stencil and Pumice Stone and Weathered Wood distress inks. I hadn’t yet decided on the layer in between, so I decided to go wit the coffee cup instead. I die cut My Favorite Things Cool Cup out of white cardstock twice, and trimming out the mid piece in the second piece, I stamped the flowers and leaves from My Favorite Things Mini Modern Blooms, then applied a bit of Tumbled Glass distress ink on the open sides. I also die cut the lid and straw out of blue colored vellum, and then adhered all the pieces together.

A Cup of Love

Now, I came to the frame. I had this piece of die cut square frame with vellum adhered on the inside, left unused from a previous project, I thought it would fit well. I stamped this frame using the same Mini Modern Blooms flowers and leaves, then adhered this over the base. I then foam mounted the cool cup, then added the sentiment from My Favorite Things cup of Tea stamp set. I added a few dots of Nuvo Drops for embellishing.

#632 – Thank You

Hello! Finally posting a card I’d made and sent to a dear blogging friend.. I somehow missed posting about this card then, so here it is now! πŸ™‚

Thank You

Frankly, when I made this card, I had no idea where I was going – not even what stamp sets I would use – I just built it as it came.

I used Ellen Hutson Mondo Peony stamp set – beautiful large flowers, just perfect for some watercoloring. I wanted to watercolor this using Gansai Tambi colors, so heat embossed it in black, so I wouldn’t have to worry about the pigment washing out the flower’s outline. Like I said, I watercolored them, then trimmed the flowers and leaves, arranging them over a longish watercolor paper panel.. the dimension is not something I measured. I just wanted a longish card, and just went with what pleased my eye. πŸ™‚

Thank You

Once I finished with this, I painted the background, then used Penny Black Trailing Vines stencil with to add some more details to the background. I then adhered the flowers and leaves on top, trimming the excess and adhered the whole thing on a dark grey cardstock.

Then came the sentiment, a combination of Simon Says Stamp You die cut and Reverse Confetti All About You stamp. I added a few drops of Nuvo Drops in Bright Gold and Ebony Black for embellishing.

#631 – Father’s Day Card

Hello! Father’s Day was last week, and I’d kept this one here ready for a month now! If you know me, you know that I still give flowery cards to my Papa – I’ve got no new or old definition for ‘masculine cards’; I just make and give my Papa what I know makes him and me happy. Flowers are always the thing for us! πŸ™‚ Here’s what I made –

Happy Father's Day

I used the Penny Black Flower Cluster stamp, stamped it on watercolor paper several times using MISTI, masking the image wherever needed. I used Antique Linen distress ink for stamping.

I then watercolored them using distress inks. I chose three inks for each color, waiting until one layer was dry before adding the next layer. Actually, I didn’t have to wait – coloring each of the flowers separately took sufficient time, so everything would dry by then!! πŸ˜€ Finally, I watercolored the background using Peacock Feathers distress ink.

Happy Father's Day

My initial idea was to trim the watercolor panel to a standard card size, but seeing that it came out better than I expected, I decided to keep the whole thing as is. πŸ˜€ I did however trim the sides a bit, then the bottom part, which was mostly white. I then added the sentiment, using Mama Elephant Calli Letters stamp sets.

Now, I usually add some kind of embellishment at this point, but I seriously had no idea what to add to this card. Pearls, rhinestones and glitter all seemed wrong. I was lost for a day, before it hit me – embossing! I used Emboss It pen to add embossing on select areas on the flowers and leaves, and clear embossed it. I also added the clear embossing on the letters.

[It was so hard to click this image – no matter what angle I shot from, the embossing wasn’t showing at all!! It was like it was totally shy of the camera, and didn’t want to show itself in the images!! But I was able to capture it finally!! :D]

Happy Father's Day

I chose a beautiful cobalt blue card base, then used the same stamp set on the card base also, clear embossing it, before foam mounting the watercolor paper panel on top.

The envelope too – used the same stamps with my MISTI, along with Memento Danube Blue ink.

Happy Father's Day

#630 – Seize the Birthday – No Toppings

Hello and welcome to a newΒ  challenge at Seize the Birthday! This time is a ‘No Toppings’ challenge, meaning, that you can go with absolutely any kind of project you want, as long as it is Birthday Themed! Isn’t that awesome! πŸ™‚

Seize The Birthday - Anything Goes

Here’s my inspiration for you –

Happy Birthday

To make this card, I first used ink smooshing with distress inks, choosing pink inks and made a gradient formation on a watercolor panel. Once I got the desired look, I let it dry. Once dry, I added some background using Penny Black Trailing Vines stencil, using the same distress inks, but going a bit darker than the underlying color, so that the texture stood out just a bit. I then trimmed the panel to size.

Happy Birthday

I then die cut the flower and leaves using Ellen Hutson Bold Blooms, gold heat embossed the sentiment, from Altenew Painted Greetings on vellum, then adhered it all on the panel, which I then adhered on the card base, I added a few drops of gold Deco Art Glamour Dust Ultra Fine Glitter Paint, to add shimmer to the card.
