#683 – Seize the Birthday – Kraft Card Base

Hello and welcome to a new challenge at Seize the Birthday! The optional topping this time is to use a Kraft Card Base.

Here’ the card I made –

I wanted to use my Faber Castell Oil Pastels which had not seen light in such a long time. I chose some Kraft cardstock to color on – they go so well even on the dark kraft color, it was just amazing! 🙂 I first stamped the large image from Honey Bee Stamps Zen Bouquet stamp set, and began coloring it. I used some baby oil to spread and smooth out the pastels, and even blended two colors in a couple of places.

Now my initial idea for the sentiment was to do camouflage die cutting, layering it with black die cuts in between, but it didn’t work at all. 😦 After trying vellum, and even ink to darken the die cut, I finally gave up on camouflaging and colored the top die cut with Finnabair Art Alchemy Metallique Gold Rush acrylic paint. I think it complements the kraft cardstock and the colors well. Oh, the die cut is from Paper Smooches, by the way! 🙂

Once done, I trimmed the kraft cardstock at the sides, adhering it over black cardbase. After this, I adhered the sentiment in place. Since the card was colorful, I refrained from adding any further embellishing.
