#797 – Alcohol Ink – Ink Lifting

Hello and welcome!

Another card using one of the alcohol ink backgrounds using a plastic sheet (see the post here). This time, I tried ink lifting the alcohol ink on the sheet.. just a bit differently! πŸ˜‰

Actually, I did want to try lifting the ink using Archival ink, but while I was setting up the stamp along with the alcohol panel in my MISTI, I saw that the stickiness of the stamp had already lifted up some ink from the sheet. “Hmmm… maybe I should do that a couple of times…”.. and so I did! And this is the result –

The stamp very cleanly lifted off the ink from the sheet after a few times.. and I cleaned it off with a few mists of spirit/alcohol. By the way, no harm done to the stamp by cleaning with the alcohol.. and it cleaned pretty well too. πŸ™‚

Anyway, I then trimmed down the panel and foam mounted it on a white card base. For the sentient, I first die cut several pieces of ‘HELLO’ using Lawn Fawn Quinn’s ABCs, then after stacking them, I heat embossed them in silver. To accompany this, I stamped the ‘Beautiful’ from the same stamp set, Ellen Hutson Mondo Sakura, fussy cut it and adhered it beside the hello. I then added quite a few silver and white gemstones on the flower centers.

One thing that I did note – the sheet is a bit prone to any harsh influence. I think I had scratched my nail on one side, and that took off the ink! Of course, just rubbing or placing it on anything else, or even adhesive to add those embellishments didn’t affect it. Just a note of warning to anyone who plans to use it! πŸ™‚

So, now, I am joining the following challenges with this card –

  1. True to your blog name ‘Experiments with card making ‘ πŸ˜‰ ! First you found an alternative for expensive yupo paper and now one for lift ink !! I loved the overall effect.. Beautiful card Ashwini.

  2. I am yet to try the lifting with alcohol inks, I am just not upto anything new! I should shake it off and start proper crafting!
I actually hopped onto your previous post about alcohol inks to understand this one properly, and bravo plastic sheet as substitute or yupo paper? Great thinking, and the results there are amazing!
I like the stamp lifting here, it came out pretty well.

  3. Turned out pretty cool, using alternatives. Maybe now you feel like a scientist… or maybe you were one already :D. The other day I saw someone on Youtube doing a test. She just spread a bit of alcohol blending solution onto a piece of felt and then stamped on the alcohol ink background. It did the same job, like if it was the real lift-ink pad.
