#805 – Diwali Cards

Hello!! Writing a post after such a long time feels weird! A few of my previous posts were all DT posts, which were scheduled, so its actually been more than 2 months since I wrote a post!

Here are the Diwali cards I made for my family this year. Mostly white, with die cuts and embossing being the highlights.

Happy Diwali (a)

I used ivory cardstock for the base, but the entire thing is covered by a layer of textured paper. Over that comes a layer of embossed vellum. I used Spellbinders Paisley embossing folder for this. I also used my gold and silver gel pens to draw a border along the vellum piece.

The ‘Diya’ is a die from Rangajali, called Ornamental Diya. I stacked these and heat embossed them in two different colors. Next came the die cut sentiment, from Altenew Inline Alpha, for which I used the same colors for embossing. The ‘wishes’ is from Winnie & Walter The Big, The Bold and Party. Matching sequins and rhinestones/pearls are used for embellishing

For the envelope, I used Impression Obsession Paisley stamp, topped with the sentiment, which I die cut using the textured paper, and adhered it over another piece of die cut cardstock, for additional strength.

Happy Diwali (b)

For the first card, I used Verdigris embossing powder with copper embossing sprinkled here and there.

Happy Diwali (d)

For the next card, I used copper embossingย  with the addition of clear sparkle embossing powder on top. The one I have is not exactly clear, but on certain surfaces gives off a tinge of blue. That’s what happened here.

Happy Diwali (c)

Next, I used Rose Gold embosing powder, topped with the same clear sparkle embossing. (See how there’s no trace of blue here!)

Happy Diwali (e)

Here I used black sparkle embossing powder with silver pearl embossing powder on top. This gave off a translucent icy feeling.. quite different from what I was expecting, but still pretty cool! ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy Diwali (f)

I absolutely loved the elegance of that diya die. So very preety! And all the paisley gave off a nice traditional touch for me. And since I was creating these cards without any clear idea where I was going at all, I am pretty glad it turned out well. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you so much for stopping by! ๐Ÿ™‚
