Hello and welcome! Its time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday challenge, and the topping this time is ‘Cover the Card’, given by yours truly. Just use anything, but cover your card with it – die cuts, stamping, embossing – anything goes! Well, or if you are not up for it, you can always play along with just a birthday project!
For my card, I chose a few stamp sets from My Favorite Things, floral and leafy, to cover my card.
Before I started, however, I decided on my sentiments, cut them out from scrap paper, and marked the place on the card, so that I could leave those areas empty. This doesn’t make a major difference, but it leaves the background of anything that might clash with the sentiment.
After stamping throughout the whole card – in fact I made two cards, one using ivory cardstock and one using white – I went ahead and added the sentiment. Stacked die cut and the rest of it, foam mounted. For the one with the ivory base, I also added a few dots to the centers of the mint colored flowers.
Here’s the list of supplies that I used:
My Favorite Things Flashy Florals stamp set
My Favorite Things Modern Blooms stamp set
My Favorite Things Mini Modern Blooms stamp set
Simon Says Stamp Sending die
Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words stamp set
I am joining the following challenges –

Hope you enjoyed my card. Remember to check up on the Seize the Birthday blog for more creative inspiration from the rest of our design team and of course, from out talented Surprise Guest Linda Snodgrass! And don’t forget to join us using your own birthday project!
Thank you so much for stopping by!
I adore the floating sentiments on the field of fun flowers. What a great idea.
Thank you Barbara!
Beautiful cards Ashwini !! Though you have covered the entire card it doesn’t look cluttered at all .I loved that tilted sentiment strips .Normally i love white for card base but this time I loved the one with ivory base slightly bit more .
Thank you so much Pooja! I still love the white based one!! 😆
These are just beautiful! Your *random* background stamping is perfection. And what a great idea to leave the area just around the sentiment empty.
Thank you so much Lindsey!! ♥️♥️
Absolutely a great topping and your cards are amazing! These are so perfect they look like DP. So impressed with you!!
Thank you so much Nancy! As sweet as always!! 😘
Very beautiful cards, Ashwini! I just love the placement of the sentiments and think that was a really good decision to plan ahead where to place them. As you said, doesn’t make a major difference, but a single “tail” behind the words could look weird… I’m the kind of girl to do just that. Empty spaces are good… like silence in music :).
Wow, what an amazing way to describe that! A sentiment with a tail.. Hmmm.. Wonder how that would look!! Ha ha!!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Love your stamped background — great use of the colors!
Thank you Vicki!
Two lovely stamped backgrounds. I like the way you did the sentiment also.
Thank you JoAnn!
Such beautiful cards Ashwini and you made such a lovely background with those pretty flowers too. Thanks for sharing with us over at ‘The Flower Challenge’ 😉 Viv DT xx
Thank you very much Viv!
The DIY pattern you stamped is really pretty, Ashiwini ! I love both versions! The white one looks fresh and the ivory color toned down the stamped images and makes the card more elegant!
Thank you so much TaeEun!! Your kind comments always make me so elated!
very sweet and happy cards…
Thanks for playing along with us at The Flower Challenge.
🙂 Karen
