Hello and welcome! We are starting a new challenge this week at Seize the Birthday challenge, and the topping this time is ‘Add Geometric Shapes’, which is given to us by TaeEun. Of course, as usual, you are free to skip the topping and join us with any Birthday project, as long as it is new.
Going with the topping again, this is what I made this time –
Double cards using the same stamp! I got this handsome background stamp from The Stamp Market called Diamond Tile.. and I soooo wanted to use it for so long!! I wanted to do watercoloring on these squares. While trying out different colors and different ways to use the background, I finalized on these two pieces and decided to make cards using them.
For the first one, I gold heat embossed the background. Then, I used my Gansai Tambi paints to color in. The coloring is not exactly as solid as I would have liked, but I let it be, for unique texture! 😉 I gold heat embossed it again. This time, since the paint wasn’t completely dry, I got a few spots of gold on other sections too, but I let it be – I liked that look too! 😉
Once it dried, I used Spellbinders Label 24 die to cut a panel for the sentiment from kraft cardstock. I stamped the sentiment from Penny Black Flower sparks using Versamark Watermark ink and then gold heat embossed it. I then blended in some Gathered Twigs distress ink in the center and sides, for some added texture.
I then foam mounted the watercolor panel on a kraft card base, and then foam mounted the sentiment piece on top. For embellishing, I added some gold sequins.
For the second piece, I used a very light grey ink to stamp the image on a watercolor paper piece and then watercolored it. I then die cut this using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles die and foam mounted it on a white cardbase.
On top of this, I used a couple of sprigs using dies from Pink Fresh Studio Dainty Blossoms. For the sentiment, I used sentiment stamps Concord & 9th Cuddles & Hugs, and die cuts from Neat & Tangled Journaling Alpha, which I watercolored in grey and stacked with a few more die cuts. I then foam mounted the whole thing on top of the watercolored panel. I also used a few gemstones for embellishing.
I hope you are inspired by my cards! Check out the Seize the Birthday blog for more inspiration from out fabulous DT and also from our talented Surprise Party Guest, Annie! And don’t forget to join the party! 🙂
