#837 – Birthday Candles

Hello! Time for a new challenge at the Seize the Birthday challenge. The topping for the new challenge, given by Colleen, is ‘Candles’. Of course, the topping is optional, and as long as your project is birthday-related, it’s worthy of entry.

Seize The Birthday - Anything Goes

Frankly, I was a little lost on this. I had a lot of ideas, but nothing was actually coming to fruition. Finally I made this – I am not completely happy, but not completely dissatisfied either. So, here it is –

I made the background by sponging some distress oxide inks and then splattered water, dried it, then splattered Picket Fence distress paint on it, then dried it again. I then die cut the panel using MFT Blueprints 27 and foam mounted it on a white card base.

The candles come from Simon Says Stamp Big Birthday Wishes, which I stamped and then fussy cut. Come to think of it, I never added the candles’ wicks!! Anyway, I foam mounted these on the card. The sentiment is two part – the die cut is from Memory Box Birthday Script, which I cut 4 pieces of and stacked, and the stamp is from Altenew Adore You. Finally I added some sequins as embellishments.

Do remember to check up on the Seize the Birthday blog for more inspiration from the rest of our design team and of course, from our talented Surprise Guest Annie! And, of course, join us using your own birthday project!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

  1. The background looks a bit wild… and very yummy! Speaking of candles, it reminds me that Diwali is very close, so I wish you and your family a wonderful five day celebration 🕯️
