#879 – Freehand Watercoloring..Again

Hello and welcome! We are starting a new challenge this week at Seize the Birthday challenge, and the topping this time is chosen by me – ‘Tic-Tac-Toe’. We also always have ‘Anything Goes’ as an option and you can join in as long as it’s a project with a birthday theme.

I made this board and you can chose the 3 elements forming a single straight line to work with –

I chose the center vertical line – ‘inlaid die cutting-flowers-watercoloring’. And here’s what I made –

Like my post title suggests, I tried a hand at free hand watercoloring again (last trial here). Unlike last time, though, I was attempting to create something else but ended up with this.

I used Gansai Tambi watercolors to paint the whole panel. Once dry, I used My Favorite Things Stitched Wonky Rectangle die.

Next, the sentiment. I wanted to use a sentiment die which also had a shadow, but I wasn’t happy with the few shadow dies that I had. So, I tried this: I cut the panel with Winnie & Walter In a Word: Happy co-ordinating die. This would act like the shadow of my sentiment. Then I used the positive of this piece to die cut again, using the Winnie & Walter In a Word: Happy die.

To assemble, I die cut several pieces of the ‘shadow’ including a white piece. I then adhered these together to get some dimension. Before adhering the watercolor panel on a white cardbase, I added a piece of scrap paper covered with adhesive behind the negative and adhered the shadow and then the topmost part for the sentiment.

For the stamped portion of the sentiment, I used a stamp from Reverse Confetti Banner in Bloom stamp set, stamping it in black and then fussy cut it before foam mounting it on the card. I also added sequins for embellishing.

And that’s my card!
