Hello and welcome!! We – my sister and I – are up with another Inspiration Station challenge!!
There’s been a bit of a gap this time, and that was because of the theme I chose for the challenge this time – “Focus on Abstract and/or No Paper“. I didn’t think much before picking this theme.. but I definitely took a long time just to choose what to do!! Finally, I chose to use this piece of fabric from my sewing stash. Bright blue with flowers in pinkish red.. it looked really beautiful, before I became lost once again… I had absolutely no idea what to do with it!
This card that I finally came up with is just something that just put together, because I thought if I don’t then I’ll probably never come up with anything at all!! 😀
Well, I first adhered the fabric over some cartridge paper to make to retain it form, and so that I can use tape to adhere it on my card. I used some soft gel to do this task. Once dry, I die cut the sides using Paper Trey Ink Stitching lines die. I thought adding some sewing edges might look good. So I used some thick off-white thread that I had with me to handstitch this… first time I’ve done that on a card! 😀
I did get lost a few more times, but finally, I decided on added the ‘hello’ from Paper Smooches Hello dies. I added Picked Raspberry distress oxide ink on a white scrap piece of cardstock and die cut it and a few more pieces of scrap cardstock using the die and adhered them together for dimension. I then added heat embossed it with clear ep a few times to get some additional dimension and also make it glossy so it looked like an enamel accent. I did the same with the small round heart stamped piece – I used a stamp from Paper Trey Ink Wet Paint to stamp it and die cut it with a circle die before heat embossing.
I had a brown card base on which I had applied some darker brown, but had left it unused. I used that to foam mount the cloth panel and then added the sentiment and the rest of my embellishing along with a fun button that I found in my stash, which matched the rest of the card perfectly.
And that’s my card! With a focus on fabric background and a button to embellish. She’s been creating beautiful pages of art work in her art book… which is not yet a book, since she’s still needs to stitch all the art pages together to make a book out of it. And a book needs a cover, doesn’t it? Head over here to checkout what my sister has created!
Thank you so much for stopping by! 🙂
