#956 – Striped Background

Hello and welcome! I had made this card for our Inspiration Station challenge that us sisters have. But I hadn’t followed the theme right, so I thought I would make something else for the challenge, and post this card separately.

I started this card with making the striped background. With my sister’s help, I had collected these stripes from some time now. In fact there are even more left in the stash, to make more cards. Luckily, I was able to quickly find stripes that looked good together. I adhered these on a piece of copy paper, then trimmed the overhanding stripes.

And this became a fine time to get lost on how to continue. The background was so pretty, I didn’t want to add much on top which would cover it up. And some of the die cuts I originally had in mind, I dropped since they weren’t looking good on this. Thankfully, I had these pair of ‘Crocus Flowers’ dies from Simon Says Stamp. I die cut a few pieces from white cardstock and adhered them together, I then adhered vellum below it, and cut it out as cleanly as I could. I think I did a pretty good job! πŸ™‚

I figured I would adhere them on an incline, just so they would match the stripes. Finally, I stamped the sentiment, from Paper Smooches Simply Said stamp set, fussy cut it, and adhered it using foam tape on top of the card. I adhered a few white rhinstones for embellishing.

And that’s my card. I’m joining the following challenges with this card –

The Flower Challenge #58: Add Spots or Stripes

Watercooler Wednesday challenge #320: All About Occasions

Addicted to Stamps and More challenge #410: Die Cuts and/or Stencils

Thank you so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚

  1. I am glad I am not the only one that realises that a card doesn’t match the criteria after I have made it! I just love those stripes but I can see how you struggled with what to put on top, your final choice is excellent and I love the idea of using vellum to just soften it a bit. The end resul it amazing and the sentiment is perfect. Brilliant fussy cutting too xx

    • Thank you so much Hilary! Glad to find another great crafter who goes through the same thought process! 😁 But I love it when we G set through them and end up with a wonderful card! πŸ˜ƒ
