Yay!! Finally, finally, challenge #17!!

This time, I was the reason for delay – my sister finished her piece so long ago, but I got into the longest slump! Holidays didn’t cure it, lazing about didn’t cure it, browsing inspirations didn’t cure it. Finally, feeling a little active and ‘in the mood’ than other days, I just started making some backgrounds, and was finally able to complete a card using one of those backgrounds last Sunday.
I digress. It was my turn to choose the challenge this time, and I chose this:
And here’s what I made –
In my card, I’ve used Leaves, Blue, Altenew Adore You, Simon Says Stamp Botanical Split and Carabelle Studio stencils. I had, of course, started with the background. I used a gel plate to apply color and to make the prints. I used both the stencils and the stamps in this process. I don’t remember the specifics, though, since I was just doing whatever I felt like.
When I picked it up again, I thought of this design. I used the leaf stamps from Altenew Adore You with a blue ink, fussy cut them and arranged them to make it look like they were falling on either side of the sentiment. The sentiment die cut is from Simon Says Stamp + CZ Designs Hugs die cut. I added a few silver gemstones to embellish.
And that’s my card. Checkout what my mixed media master sister created here! I love the paper piecing look she has created. π
Thank you so much for stopping by! π

wonderful. Love the depth you have created with that background and then the lovely dimension-do love you kept it all monochrome x
Thank you very much Sandie!! β€
I was looking at that fabulous background and wondering how on earth you did it. Then it came clear when you said gel plate, they are so wonderful for backgrounds and yours is fabulous. I love that you kept it monotone, such a wonderful look and one of my favourites. I thought you had been a bit quiet recently, so it is nice to see you back creating and sharing xx
Thank you so much Hilary! I was mostly working only on DT projects until now – I’m trying to get into the mood to actively make something more frequently.. that’s taking time, though! π Thanks for caring β€
Wow That background is simply amazing Ashwini !! Loved the way you turned it into card , wonderful outcome.
