#995 – Rainbow Stripes and a Small Present

Hello and welcome! It’s time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday challenge and this time, Jules has given us the topping of ‘Stripe It Up!‘. Of course, there’s the choice of going without this optional topping and joining us with any new birthday project you’ve created.

And here’s what I made –

I started with the rainbow striped background. I used the thickest stripe stamp from the Winnie & Walter Stripes stamp set, chose bright inks in rainbow colors, and after inking the stamp and misting it a bit, stamped it over a white card base. Once the entire front was colored, I added quite a few splatters of water on top and lifted the ink off. I then left the panel to dry.

I then used the Winnie & Walter Ring in the Celebration stamp set to heat emboss a few of the ‘rings’ in gold, and used the coordinating die set to cut them. I also die cut an extra piece out of scrap cardstock to adhere behind them, and got quite a bit of dimension stacking them all. For the sentiment I used Clearly Besotted Scrumptious Script and heat embossed it in gold, and fussy cut it.

When I arranged them on the rainbow striped panel, I felt it was a bit lacking, so I used star stamps from JustRite Bokeh Time to add stars around the rings using white pigment ink. The ink is just barely visible, which worked just right for me for this design. πŸ™‚

And that’s my card! Checkout more use of stripes on cards with all my friends in the DT and our Surprise Party Guest Deepti Aggarwal at the Seize the Birthday challenge blog. And don’t forget to join the fun!

Thank you so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚

  1. I just love those gorgeous bright rainbow colours. It is surprising to me how different the splatters look on the different colours. Adding the stars with white pigment ink was a very clever idea and it completes the card beautifully xx

  2. Your bright colored rainbow stripes are so pretty Ashwini. Great way to add interest with misting the stamp and stamping over the colors to lift the ink. Love the addition of the gold sentiment and circle over it.

  3. Wonderful, loved the stripy rainbow background a lot, i was thinking of this strip stamp from W&W, thank you for inspiring me to use it !

  4. Nothing says Celebrate like the bright rainbow stripes that you have on this card. What a fun way to make someone’s day special
