Hello and welcome to my grand 1000th blog post!! Yay!! 😀 And I’m celebrating it with my post of a new challenge at Seize the Birthday challenge. And here’s the card I made –
Frankly, I made this card in a hurry. In one night. Which is very, very rare for me. And this, after I proclaimed while commenting in Nancy’s post that I am taking months nowadays to make my cards. Yes, it just had to happen.
So anyway, after blanking out on what to create for a long time, I ended up making a card that I wasn’t only not satisfied with but also which just wouldn’t look good in its photo – how uncooperative. 😦
I made this one above in a hurry, since that card just wouldn’t do, and this came out quite well. I must however, admit that I was CASEing this gorgeous card in The Greetery blog.
I even used die cuts left over from previous projects (flowers from Pink Fresh Studio Dainty Blossoms and colored using Gansai Tambi watercolors and sentiment from Die-Versions Celebrate die), which made the process faster. I just had to stamp the faux stitched panels – both of which I did using dies from Mama Elephant So Sew – so aptly named – and then stamping on the top panel using CrafTangles Old Newspaper and Stampendous Blossom Spray stamps. I added a strip of black washi tape which had designs in matte gold for the smallest embellishing, and I was done!
I sure am glad this card worked, else I would have taken off for this challenge! 😉 But I think you’ll find my teammates did a much for trustworthy and wonderful works than mine – and of course, so did our wonderful Surprise Party Guest, Lorraine A! Experiments With Card Making Etc 
I think you are doing yourself down, although I haven’t seen the card that ‘failed’ I am sure I wouldn’t view it the way you do. Anyway this one is fabulous, even if it is inspired by another card. If we are honest most things we make are. I love your use of craft and the vintage stamping in the background with the bright painted flowers on top. I do know very well how you feel though, because I am exactly the same, especially when making DT cards. Somehow it is a struggle to come up with ideas and then another struggle to execute them and I always think my card is not as good as my other team members, plus I am very very slow. Clever use of 2 types of faux stitching too xx
Honestly, I thought the other card was looking ok, just not photogenic enough 😀 Somehow, that drove me to make another one, and thankfully, I could make a good one. Another honest reason – I wanted to CASE this card for such a long time now!! 😀

I agree, you have certainly not failed. This card is just beautiful and I love it. I know that I have trouble with photos too and usually the card looks better in real life that in the photo, but we all understand. I love the faux stitching and your design. So there! I am a fan.

I disagree with your analysis of this pretty card! I love the pop of color with flowers on the krafty card base! All the added extras like cross stitching on the edges and wonderful background stamping makes this a fantastic card! You are too critical of your own work (as I am) but this is a gorgeous card from beginning to end!

Ha, made me laugh about contradicting your previous statement! Isn’t it often the case, we say one thing, then the opposite happens to disprove it. Love the vintage feel of this card and the faux stitched borders.

This is such a pretty card Ashwini, the flowers are vibrant and pop against the kraft background and the stitching details are lovely, Cathy x
Well I love it! I like the background stamping in this colour, as it is a perfect contrast to those beautiful bright colour flowers! And goodness, you take days to make cards. Difference with you and me is-I think on them for days and then make them quite quickly. If it takes more than an hour….it is too long for me! And these days, hardly any get made! Still at least some too-sending hugs xx
