#1016 – STB: Food, Glorious Food

Hello and welcome! We have a new challenge at Seize the Birthday. Its always an Anything Goes challenge with a Birthday theme, but we also have a Topping chosen, if you want to go with it. The topping this time was chosen by our dear friend Lindsey a long time ago as ‘Food, Glorious Food‘.

And this time, I made a shaker card! 🙂 I think Lindsey would have liked this!

This card is inspired by another food shaker card I had made last year. I love the concept of using stamped images instead of only sequins/beads as the shaker elements. So this time, I used cupcakes as one of the shaker elements!

I first stamped the cupcakes from Mama Elephant Carnival Cupcakes in a light kraft color and then colored them using Zig Brush Markers. I then fussy cut them. For the shaker base, I used Winnie & Walter Buffalo Check stencil on a white card stock panel and used kraft, green and pink colors to lightly brush on the stencil to get a lighter color blending. For the shaker window, I used Neat and Tangled Scalloped die.

Since the cupcakes themselves wouldn’t be enough, I also used a few sequins and beads in the color of the cupcakes in the shaker card. Of course, before finishing the card, I had to stamp the sentiment as well. Its a combination of sentiments from Honey Bee Stamps Pearfect Sentiments and Concord & 9th Tiny Tagalongs stamp sets.

And that’s my card. Checkout what my teammates and our Surprise Party Guest, Åsa Johansson, have created at the Seize the Birthday challenge blog.

And thank you for stopping by!

  1. What a wonderful idea to use the cupcakes as a shaker element. It works so well. This is such a cheerful card with those bright colours and we all love a cupcake. Thanks for bringing a smile my way xx

  2. I am not sure I have ever used stamped images inside a shaker and it was such a great idea. Love the background too. Awesome job with this topping. Hope you are well. We need to catch up soon.

      • Hi Ashwini,Hope your are well.  Just got internet back this morning after out visit from Ian.  No power from Wed. 3:30 PM to Sun 8:00 PM.  Home is safe but lots of tree limbs and a couple of big oak trees down in yard.  Thankful it is over and we are safe.Have a wonderful day.Hugs,JoAnn

  3. I am late to the comment party as we were on a vacation to Greece and Italy and the internet was not so good. I wanted to say that this is a fabulous idea for the stamped images in the shaker window. I was wondering if you had to give them extra weight?

    • I didn’t give them any extra weight, so they move around just as well as the rest of the shaker fillings. You could give them the weight if you want them to move less, I suppose.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by! ❤️
