#1027 – Things with Wings

Hello and welcome! It’s the first Seize the Birthday challenge of the year!! Last week, a few changes in the rules were updated in the challenge blog. And today we’re starting with the challenges. And the very first Topping (which is still optional) for the year, chosen by Cathy is ‘Winged Things‘.

And here’s what I made –

I started with the background. I first stamped and heat embossed the image using Simon Says Stamp Botanical Split in white. I then used distress inks to color the background. I went light first – applying the colors on an acetate sheet, misting it water and smooshing the watercolor panel on it, dried it using heat gun, and then went back to add a couple more layers using the leftover colors on the sheet. I then trimmed the panel and adhered it over the card base,

I then used Kaiserkraft Periwinle Birds stamp (very old stamp!) to stamp the image in black over a panel of Fabriano Elle Erre Briana cardstock die cut using My Favorite Things Stitched Wonky Rectangle die. After foam mounting this over the card, I stamped the sentiment from Waffle Flower Essential Celebrations on a scrap piece of the same cardstock, fussy cut it and then foam mounted that too over the card.

And that’s my card! Step over to the Seize the Birthday challenge blog to checkout what the rest of my team mates have created and since we have two guest designers from this time as well, that’s just extra extra fun to the party!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

  1. That background is a work of art by itself. Your card is wonderful, Ashwini! Hope you are doing well and that 2023 will be good too you!

  2. Ashwini… love the birds but really love that intriguing background! Thanks so much for the invite to play along this week as GD!

  3. Gorgeous card Ashwini, I love the look of your background, sounds like a fun technique applying the inks that way! The black and white birds look perfect with it, Cathy x
