#1028 – Celebrate with Candles

It’s still January and we’re already to our second challenge of the month at Seize the Birthday! This time, the topping was chosen by Colleen to be ‘Candles‘. Anytime is ‘Anything Goes’ as long as it’s a birthday theme. But, if you’re a toppings kind of person you can add a little extra.

And here’s what I made –

I started with the background. I used MISTI to position one of the candle images from Simon Says Stamp Candle stamp and colored it using Zig Brush Markers. I then misted it a couple of times at a distance and then stamped the image onto Linen Textured white cardstock. I then colored in the flames and also drew in the wicks. I then stamped quite a few stars and dots from the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Bits stamp set and then die cut the panel using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles.

For the sentiment, I used Concord & 9th Lovely Letters stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink and then fussy cut it. I also cut out another piece of scrap cardstock to adhere beneath it. The sentiment below that is from My Favorite Things Well, Hello stamp set. I stamped this on a leftover piece of cardstock, then trimmed it to size before adhering it on a couple of scrap cardstocks. I then adhered both the pieces on the card. For embellishing, I used a few different colored sequins.

And that’s my card! Do stop by the Seize the Birthday challenge blog to checkout what the rest of my team mates and our Surprise Party Guest Stephanie Lanzalotto has created!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

  1. This was well worth the effort of colouring all those candles differently, love the finished effect and that neat little edge on the sentiment strip. Great use of a piece of waste card. Must remember that, thanks for the inspiration xx

  2. I am in love with this card, Ashwini. I love everything – the colors, the placement of your candles, the detail in the flames, wicks, stars and sprinkles. It certainly is perfect for a BD celebration! I am so happy to be with the team as Surprise Guest. Thanks so much for having me.

  3. Oh Aswhini, you always come up with something that gives a little extra bang for your card. I love the watercolor and splatter effect and of course all the stars. Simply fabulous!

  4. You always take the topping to an entirely new level, Ashwini! This is so colorful and outstanding! Well done! Hope you are all settled in by now and enjoying your new space.

  5. This is fabulous, Ashwini! I love the wishywashy watercolour effect with the candles, and all the stars around them just add to the dreaminess.
