#953 – Birthday Tweetings

Hello and welcome! Half an year has already passed and this month’s first challenge at Seize the Birthday has a new Topping suggested by our local coloring genius TaeEun to be ‘Framed

And thankfully, it has nothing to do with pinning someone with something bad they didn’t do!! All is still well in cardland!! 😀

Keeping poor jokes apart, here’s what I created –

I’ve had these cute pair of Toucans from Reverse Confetti ‘Toucan of Friendship’ forever, and have neglected to use them in card. Here, though, they were a perfect pair to get framed. Small enough to sit inside the frame, and together, large enough to cover the card. 🙂

I stamped them in Versafine Onyx ink and watercolored them using distress inks. I was going for a messy look, but the images are so small, that it just wasn’t happening without leaving half the image uncolored. Instead, I just left a few bits of white showing from the coloring, and then used my white gel pen to add some highlights on the cute pair of birdies. I then fussy cut them and set them aside.

I used watercolor paper for the card, so I could get that extra bit of texture. For making the frame, I chose the largest of My Favorite Things Stitched Wonky Rectangle, cut out the outer border and then used a suitable die from Memory Box Rectangle Basics to cut out the inner piece. I then used Misti to stamp the sentiment from the same stamp set, stamping it after positioning the frame diecut on the card. Finally, I foam mounted the fraem, the birds and the rest of the pieces on the card.

That finished my card. Quick and simple! 🙂 And I’m joining the following challenges –

#596 – A Bit of Pattern Paper, A Bit of Acetate

Hello! I have been trying a few favorite media, mixing and matching them. My source of inspiration is still the challenges going on for the Winnie and Walter 3rd Birthday Celebrations.

2017-02-18(1a)

I used pattern paper, then some handmade pattern paper using the stripes from Scenery: Stripes (I swiped the ink pads here, instead of dabbing the ink) and then acetate, on which I head embossed gold ep after stamping the gems from My Precious stamp set. Oh, I used Zig two way glue behind the gems for adhering the acetate – I applied it, let it dry and become tacky before adhering it.

After adhering the pieces on the card base, I used the banner from The Big, the Bold and Extras, and sentiment stamps, fussy cut them, adhered them on the card.

This card goes to the following challenges from the Winnie and Walter 3rd Birthday Celebrations – Mood Board Challenge with Heather P (chose the main colors from the mood board), Pattern-Making Challenge with Mayuri and Three Challenge with Shay (I’ve got three sheets in the background; three words forming the sentiment)

#438 – Make A Wish

PE: A Cut Above at The Paper Players!!

The Paper Players - Honorable Mention

Hello! When I think of birthdays, the first thing that comes to my mind is balloons (yes! Not cakes, but balloons!) I loved balloons as a child – me and my sis would never miss a chance from buying one from a street seller! Fun times! 🙂

So, I made a birthday card with balloons in it –

2016-02-24(1a)

I used balloons from Simon Says Stamp Birthday Bits and various distress ink. After inking up the stamp, I dabbed in water using a paint brush and stamped it. I then added/spread color from the same brush. I didn’t wait for the balloons to dry before I stamped the others. I also colored the background using distress inks.

Once the watercolor panel was dry, I stamped the sentiment from Paper Trey Ink Good Times using Memento Tuxedo Black. I then trimmed the watercolor panel, added strips of black card stock and washi tape on the card base before foam mounting the panel on top. And since I just couldn’t leave it alone, I added Wink of Stella clear glitter on the balloons and then some gold glitter from Deco Art Glamour Dust Ultra Fine Glitter Paint. Well, I stopped there! 😀

And take a look at this – I so surprised – I received this utterly adorable card from Kamila Routis!! Isn’t it sweet!? Those adorable little images (my guess, from Lawn Fawn) completely stole my heart! Thank you so much for snding me this Kamila!! Really made my day a very happy day! 🙂
