#987 – Guest Designer at Timeout challenge!!

Hello and welcome!! I am so so thrilled to be over at Timeout challenge as the Guest Designer this time!!

This time we are CASE-ing one of the cards that the incredible talented Michele Ferguson has created. This challenge is also sponsored by STAMPlorations. Winner gets $25 in store credit and an offer to Guest Design with Timeout challenge for a future challenge! So don’t forget to join the challenge!!

Before going to what I made, here’s a closeup at Michele’s card –

Isn’t it gorgeous? Lovely shades of pink surrounding a beautiful heart. The CAS look, even when using so many die cuts! Love it!!

Here’s my CASE of her gorgeous card –

I picked the following from Michele’s card: the shades of pink and leaf die cuts, the center heart, the sentiment.

I used Simon Says Stamp Eucalyptus Leaves die to die cut multiple pieces from white cardstock and a few more from scrap cardstock. I then adhered one from each group to the adhere to get some dimension. After they dried, I sponged pink tones of distress inks on them, misted them with water, then added splatters of darker color on top. A lot of splatters. The splatters weren’t staying there because of the indentations the dies had, but a lot of splatters did the job. Well, once they dried, I adhered them on the card base.

I then added the heart – two layers of two die cuts using Winnie & Walter True Dotty Heart, topped with the ‘XO’ die cut using Winnie & Walter Typecast Cary Letters. I water-colored the letters using distress inks before adhering it on the card.

And that’s my CASE of Michele’s card. I thoroughly enjoyed making this one!!

Thank you so much to the Timeout challenge team for having me over!! Do stop by the Timeout challenge blog to checkout all the different wonderful ways Michele’s card has been CASE’d by the team!

#906 – Diwali Cards!!

Hello and welcome! My yearly series of Diwali cards has continued for the seventh year now! I was actually majorly delayed in posting my last year’s Diwali cards… like 1 year late! But this year, I am posting on the day of Diwali itself! I’ve improved!! 😀

And here are the cards –

I have actually veered from my traditional sparkly shiny cards which I usually make for Diwali. This time I kept them simple. Yeah.. one of those few times when I don’t even add any sentiment on the card! I think the conveyed blessings and well wishes are apparent by the focal of the card – God Ganesha!

I was very lucky to find these beautiful laser cut chipboards from one of my favorite shops – The Craft Shop, just in time for the occasion – especially since I make my cards really early! So, I used them in combination with some cover dies.

The center top has background made using Pink Fresh Studio Fancy Floral dies. The bottom left has two layers of Lil Inker Designs Pointelle die cuts, behind which I used a layer of gold metallic paint from Prima. The same paint is used for the card on the bottom right, but the die cut, I changed to Lil Inker Designs Diamond Lace die, though two layers again. For the top-most layer, I used three layers of Spellbinders Deckled Rectangles, to get some dimension to even out the height of the chipboard. I used the die itself to trace an outline of the frame, using metallic gel pens in gold and silver from Uniball.

On these two cards, I used dies from Spellbinders called Grate Effect (left) and Fancy Lattice. I used two pieces of die cuts, offset them before adhering them on the card base. The frame die cut on top uses Spellbinders Hemstitch Rectangles, below which I used the same gold metallic paint. Again, I added two layers of scrap cardstock below the frame to even out the height of the chipboard.

#857 – A Sympathy Card

Hello and welcome. This time I’ve made a card, that most card-makers would prefer not to make – a sympathy card. I’ve sent it out to a very dear fellow blogger, Monika, who recently lost her young son in an accident. My heart aches for her – what a terrible thing to go though.. 😦

2020-03-13(1a)

To make this card, I first used the dies from My Favorite Things Birds of a Feather and Pretty Fresh Studio Dainty Blossoms, watercolored them and kept them aside to dry. On the card base, I embossed using one of the die cuts from Winnie & Walter Essentials: Lana Cutaways. I then adhered the die cut pieces and then stamped sentiment from Reverse Confetti Banner in Bloom using MFT Hybrid Black ink.

I hope Monika finds solace soon.

#849 – Another New Year card!

Hello and welcome! Here’s another new year card. I made this one to send to a dear blogging friend of mine. Hope she liked it! 🙂

I was totally inspired by this card made by Jennifer McGuire (the last card in the series). I don’t have any such die, but I wanted to achieve a similar effect. So instead of a single die cut, I used many!! 😉

2019-12-25(1a)

Of course, as you can see, I made the card a more-or-less tone-on-tone, rather than colorful, as I first intended to. I kinda liked this look! 🙂

I first started with a card panel – 6″x4″. I used MFT Flutter of Butterflies and die cut a few of the butterflies from the panel. I then used the flower and leaf dies from Paper Smooches Flowers and Flowers 2 dies, and die cut from the gaps in between the butterflies. I also added a few dotted swirly lines using Paper Smooches Stitched Flourishes 2 die. I retained all the die cut pieces, to use them later in my card.

I first adhered the die cut panel on a cream colored cardstock. I then started adhering the die cut pieces, layering a few and finally embellishing a the butterflies and flowers with cream half pearls.

2019-12-25(1b)

Finally coming to the sentiment. After finishing the card base, I had no idea how to proceed. I finally settled on using the happy die from Mama Elephant along with a strip of stamped sentiment from Reverse Confetti Whole Lotta Happy. I first die cut three pieces of the die and stacked them. I added some liquid glue behind both the die and strip and just laid them on the card – no pressure, so that they would appear floating on top of the butterflies.

And that finished the card! With this card, I am joining the following challenges –

Hello and welcome to an all new challenge at Seize the Birthday! This time, we have a topping-free challenge, which means you can join us with any new Birthday theme project of yours!

Seize The Birthday - Anything Goes

I, as usual, have made a card –

2018-01-23(1a)

I used a cover plate die from Lil Inker Designs called Geometric Snow to cut out various colored cardstock. I then adhered the pieces over a gray cardstock – which is totally not visible in the final product ;), layering only the positive die cut piece, while keeping a single layer of the negative pieces. Once done, I added the sentiment from Pink & Main Wishes stamp and die. I did debate between adding some jewels, but decided against it at the end.
