#946 – Miss Your Face

Hello and welcome! Time for a new challenge at Tic Tac Toe and this time, we have a board prepared by LeAnne to play with –

I chose the mid row Blue-Circle-Floral Image to make this card –

I used the latest addition to my stamps – Altenew Calming Reverie. These gorgeous stamps are large and so easy to use – I just love them! I used inks on shades of navy blue for the flowers and leaves, varying the saturation to get a beautiful monochrome. But of course, the little bit of yellow and brown adds a spot of bright color to an otherwise dull tone.

Since I wasn’t going to use any dimension for the flowers, I thought of adding a little extra for the sentiment instead. I cut two strips of black cardstock and adhered them in parallel over the card. For the sentiment, I die cut a circle of white cardstock using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles, adhered it over another piece which I had cut out of scrap cardstock. I then stamped the “i miss your face” from Ellen Hutson Totally Random Sayings Vol 1 stamp set. I adhered this over two pieces of vellum that I die cut using Spellbinders Delightful Circles. The final part came from Altenew Bold Greetings die, which I die cut from a few scrap black cardstock and once from photo paper colored in black. The last layer adds some shine to the die cut, which I totally love! 🙂

And that’s my card! Joining the following challengs with it –

#940 – Surf Dog!!

Hello and welcome! Time for a new challenge at Tic Tac Toe, where the board this time, created by JoAnne is this –

I chose the center column of Sky-Circle-Sea and here’s what I made –

I started with making the water for the sea. I used gelli plate with Neat and Tangled Rice Paddies stencil, along with a few light shades of blue distress ink. I then drew the wavy lines on the back, and cut it out. I used another piece of scrap white cardstock to create another wave, to lie it in between.

For the sunshine, I used masking tape and brushed out Scattered Straw distress ink, to form the sun’s rays. For the sun itself, I used two die cuts from Sizzix Phrases dies. I first colored two scrap pieces of cardstock using Scattered Straw Mustard Seed distress inks and die cut them. I also die cut a few extra pieces which I then stacked to get some dimension.

The top doggo comes from My Favorite Things Top Dog stamp set, which I colored using distress inks. I also drew the surf board and watercolored it. (Somehow the coloring is not showing up well.. its actually better than it looks here.. 😦) I then fussy cut the images.

The sentiment, comes from My Favorite Things Top Dog stamp set as well. To bring the card together, I simply adhered the pieces on a white card base, adding little dimension using extra cardstock.

I love how fun this card looks – more so because the doggo has even brought his bone with him to surf!! And I’m sharing this card with the following challenges –

#937 – Congratulations

Hello and welcome! A new challenge is up at the Tic Tac Toe challenge. Betty has given us the board this time and we have a new theme – ‘Dad/Masculine/Congrats

I chose the top row of Congrats-Leaves-Heat Embossing and created this card –

A very easy card to make – I started with the leaves. After die cutting several pieces from Simon Says Stamp Eucalyptus Leaves die, I adhered them together and then heat embossed them with silver pearl embossing powder. This seemed a bit plain, so I sprinkled a bit of silver embossing powder on the bottom of each leaf and embossed the rest once again with the silver pearl embossing powder. This covered the entire area and also gave it a neat dimension, while still retaining the grooves from the die cutting.

For a base, I used grey card stock from Fabrinano Elle Erre and stamped black ink using My Favorite Things Geometric Grid. I foam mounted this layer on a black card base after trimming it to size. For the sentiment, I used a sentiment from Altenew Beautiful Lady, heat embossed it using silver embossing powder on black cardstock. This too, I foam mounted on the card.

And that’s my card! Checkout the Tic Tac Toe challenge blog for more inspiration from the rest of the team!

#934 – Sending Big Hugs

Hello and welcome! Its always fun to use new products in the stash, and challenges are sometimes the perfect opportunity to use them. We have a new challenge up at Tic Tac Toe, where we still have the theme of Mom/Feminine/Encouraging going on, but a new board, by myself for you to play with –

I chose the mid row of Embossing – Florals – Encouraging Sentiment and this is what I created –

I have this gorgeous new flower from Altenew in my stash now – Build a Flower: Peruvian Lily. I don’t think I could ever have enough of looking at it!! 😀

Well, for this card, I chose a mint blue to be my choice of color for the flower. Once I stamped it all and die cut it. For the background, I had already decided on a mix of stamping and embossing. I first stamped a panel using Hero Arts Leaf & Floral Background – a very old stamp, but it has the most gorgeous patterns! I stamped it using a light kraft color, then embossed using Elizabeth Crafts Mini mosaic embossing folder. I love the effect that produces – you tilt it to one side and see the stamping, tilt it to the other side and see the embossing. Its just fun!

So anyway, I trimmed this panel to the size I wanted, and then foam mounted it on a light blue textured cardstock. For the sentiment, I first die cut the letters from Neat & Tangled Journaling Alphas. I stacked the die cuts for dimension and then added Zig Two way glue on top. On this i placed some blue holographic foil, and pressed it using my fingers on to the die cut letters. Either the pressure or the glue wasn’t enough, but the foil didn’t cover the entire surface of the letters. But I kinda liked this look, so I let it be. The rest of the sentiment came from Altenew Adore You stamp set, which I have stamped partially, and trimmed. I adhered the die cuts on the card, whereas I used a few pieces of scrap cardstock adhered behind them to mount the stamped sentiments.

And that’s my card! And I’m joining the following challenges –

#931 – Floral Hugs

Hello and welcome! Its time for a new challenge at Tic Tac Toe challenge. This time the theme is Mom/Feminine/Encouraging and the board, created by Felicita this time is –

And here’s what I made –

I started from the background. I recently got into making patterns using a gelly plate and so I thought of making a clean background as well. I used distress inks and dabbed of some color here and there using a tissue paper, to get a sort of wispy pattern.

I cut out the flower base layers using pattern papers, which I adhered on some cardstock for strength. I then adhered this to the outline die cut layer which I cut out using white card stock.

I adhered a middle layer, which is a black and white pattern paper with pretty flowers printed on it, on the blue card base, and then adhered the flowers and leaves on it. Finally the sentiment, which is a SSS+CZ Design product – I cut out a few layers of them and adhered them together and assembled it on the card too.
