#1017 – STB: Clean and Simple

Hello and welcome! We have a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and as usual, we have the ‘Anything Goes‘ challenge, but also a special topping, chosen by our leader Nancy, CAS – Clean And Simple. Of course, the topping is optional and you can join us with or without it, as you please.

And here’s what I made –

It’s been quite some time since I used flowers, I think. I had an easy and happy time using them this time. 🙂

I used Altenew Fabulous Floral stamp set for this, combining pink and purple colors for the flowers. I stamped the flowers keeping the cardstock upside down, just to make things easier. I then used a black fine liner to add some minor details on the leaves, and the dots on the flower centers. Finally, the sentiment – it comes from Lesia Zgharda and its called Happy Birthday. I stamped it using VersaFine Onyx pigment ink.

And that’s my card. Checkout what the rest of the team has made at the Seize the Birthday challenge blog for further inspiration. We’re also joined by our Surprise Party Guest Åsa Johansson!

Thank you so much for stopping by! 🙂

#1011 – Color Hues: In Memory of Lindsey

Hello crafting friends. We lost our treasured friend and teammate Lindsey last week, following her hard-fought battle with cancer. Lindsey was well-known for her amazing creativity, witty sense of humor, and immense capacity to support and encourage her design team members and challenge participants. The crafting community will miss her shining light.

Today The Seize the Birthday Team is playing along with our sister challenge – Color Hues challenge. Lindsey was a Design Team Member for both the teams. The Color Hues challenge this time was to be hosted by Lindsey, so all of us want to honor and celebrate her beautiful, creative life by sharing “Lindsey Inspired” projects using her Blue and Purple combination, along with things she loved the most, as inspiration. We hope that you will join us as we pay tribute to our dear friend and teammate.

Here are a few of her favorite things: humor, cats, gardening/flowers, love of reading, friendship, wine, tea. Lindsey loved Clean and Simple cards too.

Here’s what I made, with Lindsey’s cards as inspiration:

I started with the rose, from Altenew Build a Flower: Rose, stamped it in colors of blue, purple and dark grey and cut it out using the co-ordinating dies. I also cut out a frame using Paper Smooches Frame 2 from kraft cardstock. I then adhered this in the center of the white card base.

For the sentiment, I used Avery Elle Laurels and Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words, stamped them in VersaFine Black Onyx ink, fussy cut it and adhered it on the card. And that finished my Lindsey-inspired card.

We would love for you to join the Color Hues challenge. You can find all the details along with inspiration from both of the Design Teams over at the Color Hues blog.

#979 – Hello to the New Year!

Hello and welcome!! A very happy new year to everyone!! May this year brings lots of happiness and keep you in good health.

With the start of the new year, we also have the challenges at Happy Little Stampers starting up. The very first one being Watercolor challenge, and as usual, Anything Goes!

Happy Little Stampers - Watercolor Challenge - Anything Goes

Here’s what I made –

I used Concord & 9th Painted Rose stamp. I stamped the outline using VersaFine Onyx black ink. Then I used Altenew inks for the solid colors, misting the stamp before stamping, which helped cover the uneven paper well. I stamped the upper layers while the lower layered colors were still not completely dry, so that the inks mingled just the tiniest bit. I then watercolored the blue background using more Altenew inks. I then added splatters of the same blue on the flower, once it was relatively dry. To enhance the look, I added dots of black using a black fineliner pen from Uniball.

For the sentiment, I wanted to go with a die cut, if possible. Luckily I had the Altenew Bold Greetings dies with me. I die cut a piece from white photo paper (do they come in other colors??) to get that shine without embossing, and a few more pieces from scrap paper, and adhered them together for dimension. I had initially thought of using kraft cardstock for the background, but I added a strip of the photo paper on the side to tie in the sentiment. Of course, the base is still kraft cardstock. I added a few white flat sequins for embellishing.

And that’s my card! And I’m joining the following challenges –

Watercooler Wednesday challenge #331: Anything Goes

Timeout challenge #204: New
