#946 – Miss Your Face

Hello and welcome! Time for a new challenge at Tic Tac Toe and this time, we have a board prepared by LeAnne to play with –

I chose the mid row Blue-Circle-Floral Image to make this card –

I used the latest addition to my stamps – Altenew Calming Reverie. These gorgeous stamps are large and so easy to use – I just love them! I used inks on shades of navy blue for the flowers and leaves, varying the saturation to get a beautiful monochrome. But of course, the little bit of yellow and brown adds a spot of bright color to an otherwise dull tone.

Since I wasn’t going to use any dimension for the flowers, I thought of adding a little extra for the sentiment instead. I cut two strips of black cardstock and adhered them in parallel over the card. For the sentiment, I die cut a circle of white cardstock using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles, adhered it over another piece which I had cut out of scrap cardstock. I then stamped the “i miss your face” from Ellen Hutson Totally Random Sayings Vol 1 stamp set. I adhered this over two pieces of vellum that I die cut using Spellbinders Delightful Circles. The final part came from Altenew Bold Greetings die, which I die cut from a few scrap black cardstock and once from photo paper colored in black. The last layer adds some shine to the die cut, which I totally love! 🙂

Happy Little Stampers - Watercolor Challenge - Anything Goes

And here’s what I made –

I wanted to make something that could carry a message for the whole year. And of course, what better companions to that than flowers!

I used Altenew Magnolias for Her stamp set, and distress inks to stamp the images. I then added a hand drawn branch for the flowers and leaves to grow on. Then I watercolored the scene using distress inks.

Once everything was dry, I trimmed down the panel to a standard card size and adhered it on top of a white card. Finally, I stamped the sentiment, from Concord & 9th Painted Rose, with a dark grey ink.

And that’s my card! I’m joining the following challenges with my card –

#874 – Just a Note

Hello! Its again been some time since I created a non-DT card. Being totally out of it is slowly becoming a norm and I wanted to break it desperately. Thankfully, this idea that appeared in my mind clicked!

I started with making watercolor panels of blue and brown using Brusho powders. I first used water mixed with perfect pearls and then used plain water to mist the panels, and dried them using my heat gun. With this I had 2 panels of brown, one a shade darker and 1 of blue. I then die cut the lighter of the brown panels and the blue panel using Altenew Doodled Lace die. I also cut out the flower and leaf pieces from the die cuts.

To make the background framed panel, I die cut the darker brown piece with my Memory Box Rectangle Basics, creating two pieces – the frame and the panel inside. I cut a few more pieces to adhere them only behind the frame, to raise it a little. I then positioned this on my card base, stamped the sentiment, from Altenew Beautiful Lady stamp set in Versamark ink and heat embossed it in copper.

I then adhered the frame-panel over the cream, rustic card base. I also adhered the flower and leaf pieces that I had cut out earlier – some raised with foam tape and some directly adhered. Finally, for embellishing, I used a few brown colored clear gemstones. To add a bit more sparkle, I went through the flowers and the frame with a glitter brush pen.

#853 – Inspiration Station Challenge #08

Hello and welcome! I kinda feel that we are early on this time’s Inspiration Station challenge – I mean, we have definitely completed our projects earlier than last time, but still… feels more earlier! 😀

This time, it was my sister’s turn to choose the challenge, and she prepared a tic-tac-toe board for us –

Inspiration Station 2020-01-14

I initially wanted to go with Green-Stamps-Stencils combination, but when my newly ordered Altenew Dare to Dream stamp set arrived, I changed it to yellow, since I wanted it to be a feature on my card. And here’s what I ended up making –

So I chose a few shades of yellow, pink, green and kraft shaded inks, and stamped them. I confess I suck at aligning them all properly, so the gaps between the different patterns is all over the place. In fact, that’s the reason I didn’t stamp them horizontally and went for diagonal stamping instead.

Once done stamping, I trimmed the panel a bit, then die cut it with Paper Trey Ink Center Style Feminine die, then foam mounted the outer frame and adhered the inner piece using double sided tape.

For the sentiment I went to Altenew Bold Alphabets and used foam tape to adhere it to the card. The stamped piece of the sentiment comes from Altenew Adore You stamp set. I stamped it in black, trimmed it and then foam mounted it on the card.

Since the card was already loaded, I didn’t add any extra embellishments. And that finished my card.

Checkout what my sister created for this challenge – I must say, I get more and more amazed by what she creates with mixed media every time! I totally loved it, and I bet, so will you!

#821 – Missing You

PE: Top 3 at A2ZScrapbooking challenge!!

A2ZScrapbooking - Honorable Mention

Hello and welcome! Its been quite some time since I actually made a card in between my DT projects. So I am really happy to have found some time in between to make this one! 🙂

2019-05-12(1a)

I was totally inspired by the card that Aga had made for the latest Altenew Inspiration challenge. I picked a few main elements – like white embossed texture over a grey background, a little pink in the focal floral element and a clean bold sentiment in black.

aga_may_challange-1

For my card, I first stamped the flowers from Altenew Painted Florals stamp set using Versafine Onyx ink, then the coloring layers in shades of grey for the flowers and a darker, subdued shade of green for the leaves. I also water colored a little bit it grey and green using distress inks in the gaps in between the images. Once it dried, I fuzzy cut the trailing side of the image and kept it aside. I also stamped a few more flowers separately, stamped them in pink and bright green and fussy cut them.

I then used Prima Magnolias stencil and embossing paste over a grey cardstock and let it dry. Once it dried I mounted the previous piece on top. Fro the sentiment, I used Altenew Label Love and foam mounted it with the pink flowers.
