#756 – You Are…

Hello! One more day to the weekend!! I made this card in a rush today.. just got the idea, for a couple of challenges, and one of them has the deadline coming up… So, it was pretty much a rush job. Didn’t even have time to see/decide whether I truly liked it enough! But here it is –

You Are...

I used the stamps from Altenew Hannah Elements, stamped them on a white cardstock using pigment inks, then clear heat embossed them. I then colored them using Zig brush pens and fussy cut a little out. I then foam mounted this on a dark green cardbase. The sentiment die cut is from Altenew Inline Alpha dies, and the stamped portion is using Honey Bee Stamps Sentiment Builder.

#734 – You Inspire Me

PE: Caught by Altenew!! Yay!!

Altenew - Caught by Altenew

Hello! After trying to use my color pencils on a non-white card base for so long, and every time obtaining unsatisfactory results, I was finally able to get something satisfactory. The problem with for me was that the card base color would always end up showing through little dots, no matter how much I tried. Trying to cover it by added more strokes just never worked, and I started wondering if it was my fault or the paper’s!!

You Inspire Me

This time, I first stamped the image in dye ink before coloring. This, I found, somehow helped spread the pencil coloring better. Not sure how; maybe it was only this cardstock; but it did. Now, these images are solid, and I don’t think I can use the same trick on any the image I want to color (when they are outline images).

You Inspire Me

The images are from Altenew Lacy Scrolls, which I colored using Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. Once I was done coloring, I trimmed the gray panel and added a few scored lines in the background. I then adhered it over a black card base, and added the sentiment, from Altenew Label Love along with a few black gems.

#718 – Watercoloring by Dabbing

Hello! I thought of making another submission to the Altenew Inspiration challenge. Love the bright colors in the challenge! So, I thought I would even CASE the card that Erum Tasneem has made in the challenge, but.. I just stamped too many flowers in my card. I do love the effect, but it doesn’t look like I’ve CASEd her card anymore! Nevertheless, here it is –

Watercoloring by Dabbing

I stamped images from Altenew Peony Bouquet and Beautiful Day and watercolored it using distress inks. I tried something new to me this time – instead of brushing the colors, I dabbed them with the brush instead. I applied 2-3 layers of colors to each image, and brushed the color only for the lightest color on every image.

Watercoloring by Dabbing

I had stamped the large flowers and the small single one on another watercolors panel, which I fussy cut out and adhered to the main watercolored panel. To assemble, I foam mounted the whole panel on a gray card base along with the sentiment, which is from Altenew Adore You stamp set.

Hello and welcome! I wanted to make a Thank You card, and so made this one inspired by the Altenew Inspiration color challenge.

Thank You

The flowers are from Altenew Painted thanks. I used distress inks, misted with water to stamp the flowers. I then die cut it using Paper Trey Ink Center Style: Feminine die, then stacked the die cut to adhere theΒ  trimmed panel and die cut back on the card base.

I then stamped the sentiment using Honey Bee Stamps Brush Grunge alpha and also a part of the frame using Paper Trey Ink Center Style: Feminine stamp. I then added a few dots using a gel pen. I wanted to do a splatter effect, but I was afraid that the splatters would fall where I didn’t want them, so I added the dots myself.

Thank You

#706 – Celebrate! Happy New Year!

Hello! With the new year just a couple of days away, I thought of making a few new year’s cards… And also, I wanted to experiment this new cardstock I got.

Since I live in India, its difficult for me to get my hands on some quality cardstock – and I wouldn’t like to make orders from abroad for this basic crafting supply. I tried a lot of stores, before coming across the CrafTangles cardstock. I like the basic colors they’ve got, and the quality of the card stock too – it withstood heat embossing very well and the stamping looks great on it… so I tested some more – I tried my Zig brush pens on it…

Celebrate

…with mixed results. When I was coloring them, I felt that the colors were blending well, and was happy. Only when they dried did I see that the colors were kinda sucked by the paper – so there was less of the colors, and also, the blending wasn’t looking as good as before. 😦 Well, it still wasn’t bad enough for me to discard the whole card, so I continued with it.

Celebrate

Coming back to the card.. I used Altenew Hennah Elements and gold heat embossed the images on this beachy brown cardstock. I then colored it with Zig brush pens. The sentiment is two part – the die cut is from Neat and Tangled, called ‘Celebrate’, which I die cut and heat embossed twice in gold. It is layered on top of vellum, die cut using another die from the same set – the second part is stamped, using Reverse Confetti Whole Lotta Happy stamped in black ink.
