#587 – Love & Adore You

Hello! I loved making the card last time, with flowers, made from vellum pieces stacked above each other; and thought of making another using the same idea. I also tried making it vintage, but this one ended up looking vintage-ish..hmm… but I really do love how it has turned out! 😀

Love & Adore You

I first heat embossed the heart and flowers with gold embossing powder on vellum, which I then colored using Zig brush markers. I colored the flowers underneath the vellum last time, this time, I added it on the top – any case, you’ll have to wait for it to dry anyway! 😉 I then fussy cut them out. The sentiment, I cut from a cardstock, which I had painted with gold acrylic paint – it looks beautiful with the gold embossing – not too overpowering, but still shiny enough to stand out! 🙂 I am glad I used it too! Well, I also did stack it with a few layers before adding it to the card. Assembly was mostly easy, once I knew where to place what!

Here’s the supply list:

#558 – Snowflake dies – Two Ways

PE: Christmas Card Challenge Top 3!!

Christmas Challenge - Honorable Mention

Wish I could have titled that “Snowflake dies – Three Ways”, but I didn’t have time to make on more. Maybe you can check a previously made card, using the same dies here? But, here’s the second of the two ways –

I made an embossing template out of the dies and used it on my card! That’s one great substitute for embossing folder, and I love the effects it can create!

Merry Christmas

For this card, I used the same set of dies as I used previously, Simon Says Stamp More Fun Flakes, to cut out several pieces. I then adhered two of each together, to get some dimension, then adhered them on a piece of acetate I saved from packaging. I then used this as an embossing template, to get the snowflakes impressed on a watercolor panel.

I then used distress ink smooshing to gather color on the watercolor panel, then misted some water in so that it spreads. I then left it to dry, and used this panel as the background for my card.

Merry Christmas

For the rest of the card, I used Spellbinders Deckled Rectangles to cut out the frame, sentiment from Paper Trey Ink ‘Tis the Season for the sentiment, and a few more snowflakes from the same die set, one colored using distress inks, one left plain. I also added Nuvo glitter drops for embellishing.

Merry Christmas

Hello! I first used foils in a guest post for Waffle Flower Crafts (and here in my blog). And I thought I definitely wanted to use this technique again – in fact, I wanted to use it with alcohol inks, color them, and use them.

And I had more than one reason – I just bought a stock of alcohol inks last month, and its the still the time to make fall and Christmas cards! I fell to temptation! 😀 And here are the results –

Thanks

Although both the cards involve alcohol inks, the application method is just a little bit different. For this card, I first adhered the foil on scrap card stock, applied the alcohol inks and then used Itsy Bitsy Leaf thincuts to die cut the leaves. I then used a felt applicator and some Blending ink to spread the colours.

2016-11-04(1b)

I then used the leaves on my card – a kraft card base, and another layer of kraft panel die cut using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches Thanks.

And the second card –

2016-11-05(1a)

Here, I applied the alcohol inks on just the foil, without adhering it to anything first. While the inks were still wet, I scrunched up the foil, so the inks would blend and spread. I then carefully unfolded it, pressed it using my die cut machine, then adhered it on scrap card stock, and finally used this for die cutting.

By the way, check out this snap my sister took of the foil just after I had pressed it – I just love it! 🙂

Peace & Joy

Well, once the inks were dry, I used Simon Says Stamp More Fun Flakes to die cut some snowflakes. I used the same die to cut out some pieces using plain white cardstock. I also die cut the ampersand using Paper Trey Ink Grand Ampersand, stamped the sentiment using Hero Arts Butter Bar and Memento Rose Bud inks. I used a panel of watercolor paper, painted it pink and yellow and once dry, adhered it over my card base. I then added the snowflakes and the sentiment on this.

I am really happy to say that I’ve participated and even won, or at least got a mention in all except one of the challenges in this list – the one being 10 Minute Craft Dash by Pretty Pink Posh…for the simple reason that I don’t own any Pretty Pink Posh products…yes, that happens..:P

Altenew - Ultimate Challenge Blog Hop

Altenew - Ultimate Challange Blog Collage

So, I’ve decided to participate in this awesome event – after all, I do get totally inspired by all these challenges, get awesome inspiration from all the other card makers who play along…I really do appreciate that they pour hours and hours of work just for us!! Thanks to all you wonderful people!!

And now to my (first) card –

Thanks A Bunch

I stamped the flowers and leaves from Altenew Hannah Elements and heat embossed them black. I colored them using Broken China, Tattered Rose and Pumice Stone distress inks and fuzzy cut them. I then die cut a grey card stock panel using Reverse Confetti Edgar’s Confetti Cuts, then stamped some more using Memento Tuxedo Black. I then mounted the panel on the card base, then added the flowers on top.

Thanks A Bunch

The sentiment is from Altenew Label Love, which I used my MISTI to stamp – I am so happy I own this product at times like these!! 😀 Finally I embellished using some pearls.

#519 – A Butterfly Hello

PE: Featured Player at Paper Smooches Challenge!!

Spotted by the PS Patrol!! This is what is double bonanza!! 😉 😀

Hello! I suddenly came up with this idea last night, and just had to try it, and make a last minute submission to Paper Smooches challenge –

Hey Buddy

I first made the background, using MFT Simply Circles (stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black) and Lacy Background (stamped using Antique Linen distress ink). I then took another panel of white cardstock, stamped the sentiment, from Paper Smooches Simply Said at the bottom using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then added some Antique Linen on the top. I then adhered this panel on the card base.

Hey Buddy

I cut a few butterflies from the Best of Heidi Swapp pattern paper stack using Paper Smooches Butterfly Duet dies. I adhered these on the panel and added a small pearl on each of them for embellishing.

Honorable Mention at Seven Hills Crafts!! 😀

Hello! I’ve been wanting to make a card like this since I saw this card by May Park. Such a fantastic idea!! I had tried it quite some time ago, with not so great results.. and tried it again this time.. and quite loved the results! 🙂

Just for You!

I first die cut 4 panels using Simon Says Stamp One With Nature. The flower is the largest flower from Waffle Flower A Bunch. I used dye inks for stamping the flower and then pigment inks for the solid coloring on the backgrounds. After foam mounting the panels, I stamped the sentiment from Altenew Painted Greetings in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Just for You!

#507 – Celebrate

Hello! Recently, after seeing many card makers use Zig Brush markers – and use them fantastically, I thought of bringing out mine again. More so, when I took out my fresh stack of watercolor papers, which are a bit thicker than what I was using till now. And this is the result –

Celebrate

I first embossed the flowers, buds and leaves from Altenew Magnolias for Her using gold embossing powder. I then colored them all using Zig Brush markers. I used mostly yellow and pinks with a bit of orange for the flowers, and of course, greens for the leaves. I then fuzzy cut the flowers, going as near to the embossed borders as possible. Would you believe, I actually held these pieces for a week before finally making this card – I just couldn’t decide what to do with them!! 😀

Celebrate

So, I finally decided to use an embossed background – I used Elizabeth Crafts Flower Mosaic embossing folder to emboss a card panel, which I adhered on the card base. For the sentiment, I used Altenew Label Love and Color Box Cocoa pigment ink and then embossed with clear sparkle embossing powder, and trimmed the little piece. I then added all the flowers and leaves and the sentiment using bits of foam tape. Finally embellished it with gold sequins.
