#529 – One Layers and Splatters

PE: Top 3 at Sovushka Slavia! Can’t believe it!!

Sovushka Slavia - Top 3

Winner at Stampin Royalty!!

Stampin' Royalty Winner

Hello! I’ve made a discovery (which every card maker out there might already know) – that is this – splatters add a wonderful accent for one layers, especially when you don’t want to add any extra embellishments – no sequins, no rhinestones, no nothing, just pure one layered card! And here’s proof –

I made these two cards today, and couldn’t wait till tomorrow, since I have challenge deadlines approaching I just had to share them… Also, they are a part ofย The Ultimate Challenge Blog Hop with Altenew!

2016-09-25(1a)

My first card is made of only Altenew Beautiful Day stamp set – this is a new one in my stash, and I couldn’t wait to make a card!ย  I used the colors from ColorQ Challenge and stamped this one layer card –

2016-09-25(1a)

…and added splatters…I think I am getting addicted to them after the last Virginia’s View Challenge.. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜› Oh, the colors I used are all distress inks – Frayed Burlap, Barn Door, Spiced Marmalade, Scattered Straw – except for the sentiment, for which I used Memento Tuxedo Black.

And here’s the second card –

2016-09-25(2a)

I used Altenew Golden Garden stamp set went monochrome – I used my Memento Tuxedo Black and Pear Tart inks, then added the splatters, of course! The sentiment comes from my new latest to my stash – Honey Bee Brush Grunge Alpha – which I stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black.

#513 – Happy

Hello! Made a card for Ellen Hutson August Mix It Up Challenge with Winnie and Walter.

2016-08-12(2a)

I used watercolor panel for the background panel – and actual color card stock for the die cuts – I usually do the coloring myself, using distress inks or watercoloring, but this time, I practically forced myself to use some card stock – imagine that! ๐Ÿ˜€

2016-08-12(2b)

Here are the supplies I’ve used:
Ellen Hutson Wild Garden
Winnie & Walter Scenery:Stripes
Black Soot and Pumice Stone distress ink
Reverse Confetti Whole Lotta Happy
Hero Arts Unicorn white pigment ink
Ranger Black Sparkle embossing powder
And a few buttons from my stash for embellishing!

#502 – Stamped Flowers

…and I am back to stamping flowers! ๐Ÿ˜€ That’s the best and sure shot way of getting a beautiful card, I guess!

2016-07-16(3a)

My first card consists of MFT Modern Blooms. I used simple stamping technique with Memento Dandelion, Memento Pear Tart, Hero Arts Soft Pool and PTI Sweet Blush inks to prepare a panel of these pretty flowers. Once done, I trimmed it to stripes, mounted them on the card base using foam tape. I then addded a strip of kraft card stock, adhered the ‘you’ from MFT Love & Adore You and then the stamped sentiment piece, from Paper Smooches Fancy Frames, stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black. I then used some kraft die cut buttons from Impression Obsessions Buttons die cuts to embellish.

My second card is completely done using the Waffle Flower Leafy stamp set (except for a little die cutting and embellishing, of course! ;))

2016-07-16(4a)

I first stamped the sentiment and the flowers and leaves outlines using Memento Tuxedo Black, then stamped the counterpart – solid stamps of the same images using colored inks – Hero Arts Bubble Gum, Butter Bar, Neon Blue and Memento Bamboo Leaves.I stamped the images such that they were forming circles around the sentiment – going clockwise for the first circle, then anti-clockwise the next, and so on.

Once done, I die cut a circle from one of the edge. Now, I wanted the die cut to be partially stamped wit the images (notice the bottom half without the continuation of the flowers and leaves?), so I re-stamped the images in the same position using my trusty MISTI. ๐Ÿ™‚ I like the effect, but I am not sure whether this was the best design to showcase it.. Anyway, I proceeded to trim the outer panel, and to round the corners before tying some string on it and adhering it to the card base. I then adhered the round panel directly to the card base and finally embellished it some more using dots of silver stickles (glittering enamel dots??)

#485 – A Few Cards Over the Weekend

PE: CAS-ual Fridays Contender!!

CAS-ual Fridays - Contender

Happy Little Designers – CASE The Designer – Favorite!!

Happy Little Stampers - CASE favourite

Made a few cards over the weekend – I am just presenting them one here and a few more in the coming posts..

2016-06-01(1a)

My first card is made using my new stamp set from Happy Little Stampers, Doodled Flowers. I bought this using the gift certificate I won at their last CAS challenge, and was just waiting for a reason to use it, when I saw this fabulous card by my blogging friend Rahmat for their Muse challenge this month – need I a better reason?! ๐Ÿ˜€

I immediately set out. I also got inspired by this card by the amazing Virginia Lu. For my card, I stamped the flowers and heat embossed them using clear embossing powder, on a scrap card panel. I then colored them using distress inks Pumice Stone, Cracked Pistachio, Abandoned Coral, Mermaid Lagoon + Memento Bahama Blue and then fuzzy cut them out. I then added a strip of patterned paper from K & Company and adhered the flowers on top. For the sentiment, I stacked die cuts from Die Versions Celebrate die, and adhered it on the card.

2016-06-01(1b)

At this point, I started feeling that the background was a little empty, and, like my muse, I thought of adding something circular – leading to adding a few dots using Simon Says Stamp Seeing Spots stencil and Pumice Stone distress ink. Finally, for embellishment, I added a few clear rhinestones on the flowers.

#474 – A Color and a Sketch Challenge

Hello! My mojo is running low even now. Even though I am getting loads and loads of inspiration from Pinterest and the (oh so many) blogs and card makers that I follow, I can’t seem to create a card that I am completely satisfied with! Here are two of my latest attempts. I can’t say I am completely unhappy –

My first card is inspired by the colors in ColourQ Challenge #341

2016-05-13(2a)

The flowers are from Micia Mother’s Love stamp set. I stamped them on the kraft card base using Brushed Corduroy distress ink and on some watercolor paper using MFT hybrid black ink. I then colored the flowers using PTI Hibiscus Burst, PTI Melon Berry, Spiced Marmalade DI and Brushed Corduroy DI inks. I then fuzzy cut the flowers, added a few splatters, with the colors mathcing the flowers, over them; added a few splatters of black ink over the card base and adhered them. The sentiment is from Avery Elle Laurels which I stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, the decorative line is from the same Micia stamp set, stamped in Brushed Corduroy.

My second card is inspired by the Sovushka Slavia Card Sketch #50

2016-05-13(1a)

I first die cut the circle and painted it using watercolors. Leaving it aside to dry, I stamped the background on a card panel using My Favorite Things Simply Circles, trimmed it in half and adhered it over the background.ย  I then stamped the flowers from Altenew Peony Scrolls on scrap card stock and fussy cut them. I then stamped the sentiment from Neat & Tangled Everyday Labels and trimmed it to size. Then I assembled all the pieces together, giving dimension to only the watercolored circular piece and the sentiment.
