PE: Top at Sovushka Slavia Card Sketch Challenge!!

Sovushka Slavia - Top

Hello! The card this time is inspired by the season of love. I made a card with the pretty combination of pink and gold, with a little black to add contrast. I saw this combination in quite a few creations recently, and was very tempted to try it. And here’s what I created –

#578 – Chasing Mojo with Thanks

Hello! I am back with another card I made inspired by the entries for CASEing in the Chasing Mojo with Sweet Kobylkin challenge.

b3eb4-chasing2bmojo2binsta

This time, I am CASEing the wonderfully talented Melissa. I absolutely love her mixed media cards (& projects) and her love (craze??) for butterflies, even though I don’t use them as much as she does! 😉

Here’s the card she has shared for us to CASE –

And here’s my inspired card –

2017-01-22(2a)

I did the stamping using die cut foams, and used blues, as in my inspiration. Once I was done with the stamping, I added lots of water splotches, the water flowed a bit to spread a bit of the color. Once dry, I added a few splatters of yellow, die cut the panel, die cut the sentiment, sponged some more blue ink at the bottom and through the sentiment, and finally adhered it on a white card base.

#528 – The Ultimate Challenge Blog Hop with Altenew (2)

Hello! And I am back with another card I made for The Ultimate Challenge Blog Hop with Altenew –

2016-09-17(1a)

I started with die cutting a white panel using Reverse Confetti Edgar’s Confetti Cuts. I then masked off the bottom, where there were etched lines from the die-cutting, and stamped using Memento Tuxedmo Black and Altenew Peony Scrolls and Lacy Scrolls stamp sets. In fact, I used my MISTI, so that I could stamp multiple times and get a good black stamping. I then colored the outline images with Faber Castell oil pastels and spread out the color using baby oil.

2016-09-17(1b)

I then mounted this panel on a white card base, added some silver string before attaching the sentiment – I die cut both black and white card stocks using Paper Trey Ink Good Times die, adhering them for the shadow effect, then adhered it directly on the cardstock and the string. I then added some silver sequins and black rhinestones for embellishing.

The Heart Desires - Honorable Mention

Hello!!

I had won the Cupcake Inspirations challenge in May with this card, winning the honor of being a Sweet Six. Imagine my surprise when Naki mailed me asking to be the Surprise Sweetie!! I re-read the mail a couple times – I thought she had mailed me by mistake or something! 😉

So, there was no way I would say no – and then, when she sent me the theme for the Challenge 363 – “Under the Sea”

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 363

Ah.. I got a little tensed. See, I am no good when it comes to sea and fish. I right out avoid challenges with sea theme, beach theme, fish theme – you name it. I have nothing against them, mind you, in fact I love the sea and beach – I spent most of my childhood summer holidays near a beach and the smell of sea in the air is one of my favorites! But when it comes to making a card with the them …. errr… no, not my favorite! I didn’t want to miss the chance to be a part of CIC, but this was going to become a nightmare soon.. And that’s when Naki calmed me down.. she asked me to just have fun..and even gave me ideas – use the colors that remind you of the sea, or bubbles, waves, sea creatures, etc.. Yup, that got a couple of ideas in my head! 🙂 And this is what I came up with –

2016-05-19(1a)

I decided to put my acrylic paints to good use. I first gessoed a watercolor panel then added colors of the ocean, similar to the inspiration picture. Well, I would have stopped right there, if I could – the colors were looking really delicious! 😀 I then proceeded, albeit taking the risk of finally trashing it, to add a few plant life – I painted sea plants (or maybe leaves?) and some corals (do they even look like corals??) and left he panel aside to dry.

2016-05-19(1b)

Next, I wanted to add a few fish too. The problem – I don’t own any stamps dedicated to sea theme – I could have hand drawn them, easy, but I thought of searching my stash first. I am glad I did – these fish are from My Favorite Things Cat-itude stamp set – you never would have guessed! :DI stamped the fish using MFT Hybrid black ink, and colored then using distress ink before fuzzy cutting them out.

Once the painted panel was dry, I trimmed it, layered it with a panel of pattern paper from K & Company – I felt that the colors were reminding of sand and beach – and adhered both the pieced to the card base double sided tape. I then added the fish, giving them a little dimension and the sentiment panel, where the sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp One With Nature, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black.

2016-05-19(1c)

Once done, I added quite a bit of glitter to the fish using Wink of Stella clear glitter pen, and some Ranger Glossy Accents. I also added the bubbles in white acrylic paint. And that’s my card! I am pretty happy with how it turned out, considering I had no idea what to do when I started! 😀

A big thanks to Naki – for the chance to be the Surprise Sweetie and giving me the encouragement to make this card – I really had fun making it! 🙂

Do stop over at the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge – I’ll bet you will be totally inspired to make something “under the sea”! 🙂

#444 – Lucky!

PE: Twinkler at Sparkle & Shine!!

Sparkle & Shine - Honorable Mention

Hello! Made two cards with clovers in them – count them as lucky! 🙂

Here’s the first card –

2016-03-05(2a)

Very easy one. I chose Fabriano Elle Erre paper in Bianco and used Pine Needles, Crushed Olive and Old Paper to make the background. I don’t own any clover stamps; so I improvised. I used heart stamps! 😀

2016-03-05(2b)

I used the heart stamp from Neat & Tangled My Heart Sings, stamped them in Versamark and used Ranger Emboss It pen to draw the stems for the leaves and heat embossed them with Ranger gold embossing powder. I then used the same stamp and made another clover on spare card stock, filled it with the green watercolors, added some Deco Art Glamour Dust Ultra Fine Glitter Paint in gold for some shimmmer and fussy cut it. I then stamped the sentiment, combining sentiments from Neat & Tangled My Heart Sings and Paper Smooches Alphadot, on vellum and trimmed it. I then stapled the vellum on the panel, adhered the clover on it, and after rounding three corners, foam mounted the panel on the card base to finish my card.

For my second card –

2016-03-06(1a)

For this card, I first smooched a variety of green toned distress inks on my waterproof panel (I actually use something I’ve made: a layer of chipboard, followed by white paper, followed by transparent plastic sheet, large enough to be taped behind the chipboard – I use it for all my watercoloring needs! :)) I then misted it just a little, so my stamp can pick up the colors. I then chose the hearts from Paper Smooches Bold Buzzwords and went ahead to stamping my clovers on plain white card stock. I used hearts of two sizes, the bigger one forming rows, and the smaller one filling up the space.

2016-03-06(1b)

I then misted this surface so that the water flowed around a bit, heat dried it and then stamped the clovers again, where I had previously stamped them. It didn’t matter if the colors weren’t exactly the same, since I was going for a variegated look anyway. I also stamped the stems for the clover – I used the round bracket from Paper Smooches Alphadot stamp set! 🙂

For the sentiment strip above, I first cut a stripe of plain white card stock, die cutting one side using Paper Smooches Borders 2. I then added a strip of silver glitter washi tape behind it. I then die cut a layer of fringe using My Favorite Things Fringe die and some paper (that I found between OHP sheets, that I use for making shaker cards…yup, I save everything for any use I can come up with for it later! :P) and adhered it behind the silver washi. Finally added some silver string behind. Before adhering this to the card base, I added the sentiment – the stamped sentiment is from Winnie & Walter The Big, The Bold & You and The Big, The Bold & Party combined; the die cuts are from Lawn Fawn Cole’s ABCs, which I colored using Zig May Green brush pen.
