#691 – Hello Beautiful!

PE: Winner at CAS(E) This Sketch! Yay!!!

CASE This Sketch - Challenge Winner

Hello! Back to some more messy watercoloring.. I do enjoy it so!! πŸ˜€

Hello Beautiful

I used My Favorite Things Buildable Bouquet, to first stamp the images using Antique Linen, then watercolored the image using distress inks. The sentiment comes from Ellen Hutson Mondo Magnolia, which I stamped on another piece, then fuzzy cut and adhered it on the watercolored piece. I distressed the edges of the watercolored panel before adhering it to the card base.

#682 – You Are Incredible

Hello! At times, I feel like bringing out a coloring medium.. and then I keep going with the same thing, until I suddenly realize that its all I’ve been using. Happened this time with my color pencils. I suddenly realized that it’s been some time since I took them out, and started some coloring with them. And then I just kept using them, and no other media for coloring.. and then it hit me that I wasn’t using anything else! It’s a cycle that never fails to repeat.. and I already know what’s on my list next – Zig colro brush pens.. yup, its been a while since I took them out! πŸ˜‰

Anyway, I digress. This is what I made using my color pencils.. Also, it had been some time since I took out these old favorites of mine – Altenew Persian Motifs stamp set. And it made just the most beautiful combination! πŸ™‚

You Are Incredible

On some scrap cardstock, I stamped the flowers in a light kraft ink, then colored them using my Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. I then fussy cut them. On a card panel I stamped the a few more images using the same ink, and colored only a few ares with a light grey color. I also stamped the sentiment, from the same stamp set, using a dark brown ink. I trimmed this layer, and foam mounted it on the card bas and also foam mounted the fussy cut flowers.

#668 – Sending Hugs

PE: Team Pick at Tic Tac Toe!!

Tic Tac Toe - Honorable Mention

Hello! Somehow I’ve been making CAS cards lately, and been happy with the lot of them, especially since CAS comes hard for me.. I always tend to think that the card ‘needs a little more’ and so, nothing ends up CAS! πŸ™‚ Here’s another one I just made last night –

Sending Hugs

I created the background by first stamping the ‘hugs’ using Honey Bee Stamps Hand Written Alpha, then stamped all the other images, from Honey Bee Stamps Zen Floral. Keeping this case, I heat embossed in black the flower from Ellen Hutson Mondo Peony on watercolor paper and then watercolored it using distress inks, then fussy cut it.

Sending Hugs

Before adhering the flower, I stamped the ‘sending’ part of the sentiment using Honey Bee Stamps Sentiment Builder stamp using Fossilzed Amber distress oxide ink. And that’s my card!

#652 – Dots and Solids

Hello! If you’ve been to my blog before, you’d know that I derive inspiration from a lot of other card makers. Today’s card is also inspired from this card made by Aga. I love how she has created a simple and unique background using simple solid stamps and lots of dots. I knew I wanted to create something similar as soon as I saw it!

So here’s what I made –

Hello

I used stamps from Avery Elle – Petals & Stems and Blossoms & Blooms, and stamped the images using some pastel like colors. I then used a black marker pen to add all the dots. It looks like a lot of work, but it really isn’t – barely took me 5 minutes to finish!

Hello

For the layer above, I thought of going with a simple BnW image, since I didn’t want it to distract the pretty background. I used Ellen Hutson Mondo Peony, stamped it using black ink, fuzzy cut it and foam mounted it on the card. Same for the sentiment, from Avery Elle Laurels stamp set.

#598 – Have A Beautiful Day

PE: Top at Lesia Zgharda Texture Challenge!

Lesia Zgharda - Top

Hello! I am steadily getting into the mixed media vibe now-a-days. I’ve been looking at quite a few videos, and loving it. Although most of these involve scrapbooking, it is relatively easy to incorporate the same techniques into card making too (duh) and am thinking trying out a few techniques I learnt like that here and there in my cards.

The card I am featuring today, has a small amount of mixed media. Although, the main focus when I made the card was the pretty texture in the background, I am a little afraid it is lost in the sentiment and the frame and flowers.

Have A Beautiful Day

Actually, I had made the textured background quite some time ago, meaning to use it for another challenge, but never did. I used embossing paste, created a circled and swirly look. I added some watercolors on this. Then stamped it with the leaves from Ellen Hutson Mondo Peony, then foam mounted the frames and flowers from Paper Smooches Scalloped Frames and Dainty Flowers. The sentiment from Ellen Hutson Mondo Peony is stamped on acetate, layered with some green tone washi tape strips, strung together with an eyelet and a string (bow), and foam mounted.

Have A Beautiful Day

I just love the swirly background, just wish I could have shown it off a bit more. But the card in itself looks fine, I guess. πŸ™‚

#501 – CASEing Yoonsun Hur

PE: Spotted by My Favorite Things!!

My Favorite Things - Spotted

Honorable Mention at The Heart Desired Challenge!!

The Heart Desires - Honorable Mention

Its been quite some time since my last post! I actually made these cards a week ago, but am posting them only now….And as the title denotes, I am CASEing a couple of cards by the amazingly talented Yoonsun Hur!

Celebrate

My first card is a CASE of this card by Yoonsun. If you’ve seen my posts from beloew, you’ll know I love bold and bright colors – and Yoonsun’s card, where she combined this bold look with the muting kraft – just stunning!

For my card, I used flowers and leaves fromΒ  My Favorite Things Modern Blooms and a variety of inks, then using another flower center stamp, stamped the dots in black and grey. I also added the dotted lines using Winnie & Walter Scenery: Stripes. Finally came the sentiment – I used Lawn Fawn Cole’s ABCs dies for the sentiment.

Celebrate

Did I mention that I really loved the bright and bold look? πŸ˜€ Anyway, I did add a bit of embellishing using some gold and bronze sequins.

This card is made especially for My Favorite Things challenge, who are celebrating 10 years – what an awesome achievement!! πŸ˜€ The challenge isΒ 10th Birthday Celebration Bonus Challenge, where we are to include 10 in some way in our creations. In my card, I’ve used 10 stamped elements (including flowers and leaves) and the sentiment carries 10 letters too! πŸ˜›

I am also submitting the card to the following challenges –

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Flora & Fauna

SSS - Monday Challenge

The Heart Desires Challenge #2 (I’ve borrowed a few colors from the theme, and the flowers look quite tropical!)

For my second card, I was inspired by this card of Yoonsun. Now, I really love watercoloring – and watercolor backgrounds are just awesome – more so when done my a coloring genius like Yoonsun.. but I degress..

You Are My Person

The only mistake I made in this card’s watercoloring – I chose the wrong watercoloring medium – I used watercolor cakes – I should have used inks.. but anyway, the end result is not so bad… and the lesson is learnt! πŸ˜€

So, for this card, I used mostly solid or thick-outlined stamps from Neat & Tangled Paper Cut Flowers and Ellen Hutson Bold Blooms and used Zing white embossing powder. Unfortunately, I did somehow end up smudge up the embossing, even after embossing twice, to avoid the exact thing! Talk about ironic! πŸ˜€

The sentiment, from Ellen Hutson Mondo Magnolia is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. Finally the card is embellished using some silver sequins (which are looking black in the image).
