#762 – You Make Me Happy

Hello! I am continuing making easy-to-make cards, trying to bait my lost mojo. This card here is inspired from the colors in the inspiration from the Ellen Hutson challenge –

2018-06-13(1a)

I stamped the big Mondo Magnolia flower from Ellen Hutson in MFT Hybrid ink, then drew some leaves and colored them both using Zig brush pens. I then fussy cut this and set it aside.

To create the background, I chose craft cardstock and randomly stamped a leaf image from Reverse Confetti Tall Blooms, first in white pigment ink, then, once it dried, in a purple ink. I then foam mounted the magnolia image on top.

2018-06-13(1b)

The sentiment comes from Winnie & Walter In Bloom: Carolina’s Florals and Hero Arts All Occasion Messages. These too, I fussy cut and foam mounted. To embellish, I added some black glitter stickles on the flower and a pink pearl in its center.

#751 – Birthday Wishes

Hello! This is the card I made for my sister’s birthday; and boy, did I have a hard time making it! I made quite a few designs, unsatisfied by each one and all before finally finalizing on this one, and completing it. And I am relieved that I did like it in the end.. 🙂 And I hope my sis liked it just as much! 😀

2018-03-31(2a)

I used stamps from Ellen Hutson Mondo Peony and Altenew Beautiful Day, and stamped the images on watercolor paper in a light gray ink. I then watercolored them all using Gansai Tambi watercolors. I also added details using Zig Brush pens. Once everything dried, I trimmed one end and die cut the other end using Simon Says Stamp Wavy Scallop Stitches.

2018-03-31(2b)

I wanted to create a heat embossed outline of the same images on the card base, before foam mounting the watercolored panel. So, using my MISTI, on a gray card base (which I know is looking blue in the pictures…), I re-arranged the images, stamped the using Versamark sticky ink and heat embossed them using Silver Pearl embossing powder. I then very lightly watercolored the insides of these using Gansai Tambi Starry watercolors.

2018-03-31(2c)

After foam-mounting the watercolored panel, next came the sentiment. I used die cuts from Memory Box Birthday Script, stacking two die cuts and adhered them in place on the card. I then colored it with Gansai Tambi Starry watercolors. I could have done this earlier, but I thought the white would look good – and I thought I could add a bit more after I adhered it.. so I had to watercolor it later.

So anyway, the ‘wishes’ part comes from Concord & 9th Cuddles & Hugs stamp, which I heat embossed in silver, twice, to get some additional dimension.

2018-03-31(2d)

For the envelope, I used some pattern paper… I think it is from K & Company.. I had bought it so long ago!! On this too, I used the same stamp and die cut for the sentiment. Except this time, I used silver foil adhered cardstock for die cutting, and used white gel pen on the stamped part of the sentiment.

And that’s the whole card. I hope my sis liked it!

#686 – Oh Happy Day

Hello and welcome! Like I said in a previous post, I am swooning over distress oxide inks now-a-days. For making this card as well. Here, once again I used the property of the inks to layer colors without ending up with muddy mucky colors.

2017-10-28(2a)

I initially colored a watercolor panel with yellows and pinks, dried it, embossed on it the sentiment from Ellen Hutson Bold Blooms and the flowers from Mondo Magnolia, which I overlapped with each other, using copper embossing powder. Once done, I added another layer of blues on top.

For coloring the panel this time, I added colored the panel by adding the ink directly on the paper by swiping the ink pad on the paper. Of course, I don’t totally cover the paper, since the ink can color quite a large surface. Once I smoosh all the inks, I use a brush loaded with water to spread it around. If more color is needed, I used ink smooshed on a non-sticky surface.

2017-10-28(2b)

You might see a bit of yellow here and there, but that’s not the layering, but because I added too much water while sprinkling water to get a bit of texture…yeah, too much water can do that! 😀 Once everything was dry, I added another layer of clear sparkle embossing on top of the sentiment.

I must admit, I am totally loving layering these inks like this – Never known another medium (and I am talking about watercolor mediums or the like) which I could layer, so I am truly happy with this! 🙂

So, anyway.. I am submitting this card to the following challenges –

#663 – Say Hey to Coffee

Hello! I made a couple of cards, both of which I made yesterday –

2017-09-03(1a)

For my first card, I used Ellen Hutson Bohemian Garden stamps set, heat embossing the images in white, then colored the images with Zig brush markers. The sentiment is from My Favorite Things Friends and Paper Smooches Hello dies.

#632 – Thank You

Hello! Finally posting a card I’d made and sent to a dear blogging friend.. I somehow missed posting about this card then, so here it is now! 🙂

2017-04-23(2a)

Frankly, when I made this card, I had no idea where I was going – not even what stamp sets I would use – I just built it as it came.

I used Ellen Hutson Mondo Peony stamp set – beautiful large flowers, just perfect for some watercoloring. I wanted to watercolor this using Gansai Tambi colors, so heat embossed it in black, so I wouldn’t have to worry about the pigment washing out the flower’s outline. Like I said, I watercolored them, then trimmed the flowers and leaves, arranging them over a longish watercolor paper panel.. the dimension is not something I measured. I just wanted a longish card, and just went with what pleased my eye. 🙂

2017-04-23(2b)

Once I finished with this, I painted the background, then used Penny Black Trailing Vines stencil with to add some more details to the background. I then adhered the flowers and leaves on top, trimming the excess and adhered the whole thing on a dark grey cardstock.

Then came the sentiment, a combination of Simon Says Stamp You die cut and Reverse Confetti All About You stamp. I added a few drops of Nuvo Drops in Bright Gold and Ebony Black for embellishing.
