#751 – Birthday Wishes

Hello! This is the card I made for my sister’s birthday; and boy, did I have a hard time making it! I made quite a few designs, unsatisfied by each one and all before finally finalizing on this one, and completing it. And I am relieved that I did like it in the end.. 🙂 And I hope my sis liked it just as much! 😀

I used stamps from Ellen Hutson Mondo Peony and Altenew Beautiful Day, and stamped the images on watercolor paper in a light gray ink. I then watercolored them all using Gansai Tambi watercolors. I also added details using Zig Brush pens. Once everything dried, I trimmed one end and die cut the other end using Simon Says Stamp Wavy Scallop Stitches.

I wanted to create a heat embossed outline of the same images on the card base, before foam mounting the watercolored panel. So, using my MISTI, on a gray card base (which I know is looking blue in the pictures…), I re-arranged the images, stamped the using Versamark sticky ink and heat embossed them using Silver Pearl embossing powder. I then very lightly watercolored the insides of these using Gansai Tambi Starry watercolors.

After foam-mounting the watercolored panel, next came the sentiment. I used die cuts from Memory Box Birthday Script, stacking two die cuts and adhered them in place on the card. I then colored it with Gansai Tambi Starry watercolors. I could have done this earlier, but I thought the white would look good – and I thought I could add a bit more after I adhered it.. so I had to watercolor it later.

So anyway, the ‘wishes’ part comes from Concord & 9th Cuddles & Hugs stamp, which I heat embossed in silver, twice, to get some additional dimension.

For the envelope, I used some pattern paper… I think it is from K & Company.. I had bought it so long ago!! On this too, I used the same stamp and die cut for the sentiment. Except this time, I used silver foil adhered cardstock for die cutting, and used white gel pen on the stamped part of the sentiment.

And that’s the whole card. I hope my sis liked it!

#726 – No Whites

Hello! I didn’t realize until I finished the card, but this card has no white cardstock in it – all colored cardstock! That’s definitely a first for me!! And I am so delighted!! 😀

2018-02-13(1a)

I did, however have to add some color to a couple of the card bases (the pink and blue), to get the exact color I wanted. My blue and pink cardstocks are a few shades lighter, and I used distress inks to get the color I actually wanted. Also, I felt that it was easier to get the color I wanted on these colored card bases, since they have the base color ready anyway – it was only a matter of darkening them. 🙂

2018-02-13(1b)

I used Ellen Hutson Mondo Peony stamp on the blue card base, and stamped the images in black. I then used Uniball UniPaint marker to color some areas of the petals. Next, I used Hero Arts Night & Day Flowers to stamp the flowers on the pink and yellow card stock scraps, then fussy cut them out. The sentiment comes from Hero Arts All Occasion Messages. I finally adhered the pieces together and added a few sequins to embellish.

#714 – Monochromatic CAS

Hello and welcome! I made this really simple and easy card, sort of in a hurry. I’ve been trying to come up with something for some time now, but wsan’t happy with most of the ideas, finally settled with this –

2018-01-16(1a)

I first stamped a panel with grey inks using the feathers from Hero Arts Feathers stamp set. I then die cut it using Spellbinders Deckled Rectangles, mounted it on a white card base. The leaves are from Concord 7 9th Layering Leaves and the sentiment is from Ellen Hutson Mondo Magnolia.

PE: Winner at CAS(E) This Sketch! Yay!!!

CASE This Sketch - Challenge Winner

Hello! Back to some more messy watercoloring.. I do enjoy it so!! 😀

2017-11-04(2a)

I used My Favorite Things Buildable Bouquet, to first stamp the images using Antique Linen, then watercolored the image using distress inks. The sentiment comes from Ellen Hutson Mondo Magnolia, which I stamped on another piece, then fuzzy cut and adhered it on the watercolored piece. I distressed the edges of the watercolored panel before adhering it to the card base.

#686 – Oh Happy Day

Hello and welcome! Like I said in a previous post, I am swooning over distress oxide inks now-a-days. For making this card as well. Here, once again I used the property of the inks to layer colors without ending up with muddy mucky colors.

2017-10-28(2a)

I initially colored a watercolor panel with yellows and pinks, dried it, embossed on it the sentiment from Ellen Hutson Bold Blooms and the flowers from Mondo Magnolia, which I overlapped with each other, using copper embossing powder. Once done, I added another layer of blues on top.

For coloring the panel this time, I added colored the panel by adding the ink directly on the paper by swiping the ink pad on the paper. Of course, I don’t totally cover the paper, since the ink can color quite a large surface. Once I smoosh all the inks, I use a brush loaded with water to spread it around. If more color is needed, I used ink smooshed on a non-sticky surface.

2017-10-28(2b)

You might see a bit of yellow here and there, but that’s not the layering, but because I added too much water while sprinkling water to get a bit of texture…yeah, too much water can do that! 😀 Once everything was dry, I added another layer of clear sparkle embossing on top of the sentiment.

I must admit, I am totally loving layering these inks like this – Never known another medium (and I am talking about watercolor mediums or the like) which I could layer, so I am truly happy with this! 🙂

So, anyway.. I am submitting this card to the following challenges –
