#874 – Just a Note

Hello! Its again been some time since I created a non-DT card. Being totally out of it is slowly becoming a norm and I wanted to break it desperately. Thankfully, this idea that appeared in my mind clicked!

I started with making watercolor panels of blue and brown using Brusho powders. I first used water mixed with perfect pearls and then used plain water to mist the panels, and dried them using my heat gun. With this I had 2 panels of brown, one a shade darker and 1 of blue. I then die cut the lighter of the brown panels and the blue panel using Altenew Doodled Lace die. I also cut out the flower and leaf pieces from the die cuts.

To make the background framed panel, I die cut the darker brown piece with my Memory Box Rectangle Basics, creating two pieces – the frame and the panel inside. I cut a few more pieces to adhere them only behind the frame, to raise it a little. I then positioned this on my card base, stamped the sentiment, from Altenew Beautiful Lady stamp set in Versamark ink and heat embossed it in copper.

I then adhered the frame-panel over the cream, rustic card base. I also adhered the flower and leaf pieces that I had cut out earlier – some raised with foam tape and some directly adhered. Finally, for embellishing, I used a few brown colored clear gemstones. To add a bit more sparkle, I went through the flowers and the frame with a glitter brush pen.

#865 – Inspiration Station challenge #10

Hello and welcome! My sister and I are up with a new creative challenge for our Inspiration Station challenge – the 10th challenge between us sisters to create something from a prompt that one of us has come up with!

It was my sister’s turn this time and she picked this photo, that she had clicked. It features a sheet of aluminium foil that I had used alcohol inks on. I don’t remember how I used it or if I used it at all!

Here’s what I chose from this snap –
The alcohol inks, in shades of blue and green
The beautiful shine of the aluminium foil
The wood base

And here’s what I made –

I first made that bright blue-green background. I took a piece of white cardstock panel, painted it with Unicorn paint from Prima. Its got a beautiful shimmery sparkle with a mix of gold and silver..mostly like platinum. And I totally love it!

So anyway, this was the base for me to apply my alcohol inks. Due to the paint, the surface becomes non-porous and good to apply alcohol inks. I picked a couple of inks in shades of blue and a single shade of green, used the felt applier with the Alcohol Blending solution and applied it on the painted panel in an ‘S’ shape.

This dried very quickly too. I then used one of the Woven embossing folder from We R Memory Keepers on the panel and set it aside.

Next I started making the paper for the woody portions. I chose a few shades of brown and yellow, dabbed it on a clear plastic surface, misted it with water and used my fingers to dab the colors on a watercolor paper panel. Once the entire panel was covered, I let it air dry. I then used a flat brush with a little bit of water to slide across the panel and spread the colors a bit. I again let it air dry. Thanks to the really hot weather, it dried very quickly! 😀

I used this panel to cut out the beautiful bird, from Spellbinders Nordic Floral die set and also the sentiment, from My Favorite Things Simply Thanks die. I also die cut a few more pieces of the sentiment from kraft cardstock and adhered them together.

To assemble the card, I first trimmed the alcohol ink panel a bit, and foam mounted it on the kraft card base. I then adhered the sentiment and then foam mounted the bird on top. I believe there wasn’t any need to add any more embellishing, since the card was pretty flashy as it is! 😀

And here’s what my sister has made – a pair of beautiful, shimmery charming earrings! Love that rainbow shimmer on them…so very beautiful!!

Hello and welcome! Its time for a new challenge at the Seize the Birthday challenge. Every Challenge is always Anything Goes and a special Topping is included for extra fun.  And this time’s topping is chosen by Glenda ‘Food and/or Drink’.

And here’s what I made –

I had first chosen some cupcakes, but then my sight fell on these ice-cream dies, from Reverse Confetti Love and Ice-Cream dies, which I hadn’t used in forever!! I did a search on my Pinterest boards, and figured out that watercoloring might be my best option to show off some delicious ice-cream. So I cut out everything, watercolored them, let them dry.

For the card base, I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder, whose name I’ve forgotten. I swiped some distress oxide ink across the folder, misted it a bit, then embossed the card base in it. I then added a later of vellum to soften it a bit and foam mounted the ice creams on top.

The sentiment pieces are from Winnie & Walter In a Word: Birthday and Winnie & Walter In a Phrase: Hugs & Kisses dies. I cut out three of each, colored one of the hugs die cuts and adhered them all together. I then adhered this on my card.

#849 – Another New Year card!

Hello and welcome! Here’s another new year card. I made this one to send to a dear blogging friend of mine. Hope she liked it! 🙂

I was totally inspired by this card made by Jennifer McGuire (the last card in the series). I don’t have any such die, but I wanted to achieve a similar effect. So instead of a single die cut, I used many!! 😉

Of course, as you can see, I made the card a more-or-less tone-on-tone, rather than colorful, as I first intended to. I kinda liked this look! 🙂

I first started with a card panel – 6″x4″. I used MFT Flutter of Butterflies and die cut a few of the butterflies from the panel. I then used the flower and leaf dies from Paper Smooches Flowers and Flowers 2 dies, and die cut from the gaps in between the butterflies. I also added a few dotted swirly lines using Paper Smooches Stitched Flourishes 2 die. I retained all the die cut pieces, to use them later in my card.

I first adhered the die cut panel on a cream colored cardstock. I then started adhering the die cut pieces, layering a few and finally embellishing a the butterflies and flowers with cream half pearls.

Finally coming to the sentiment. After finishing the card base, I had no idea how to proceed. I finally settled on using the happy die from Mama Elephant along with a strip of stamped sentiment from Reverse Confetti Whole Lotta Happy. I first die cut three pieces of the die and stacked them. I added some liquid glue behind both the die and strip and just laid them on the card – no pressure, so that they would appear floating on top of the butterflies.

And that finished the card! With this card, I am joining the following challenges –

#847 – Happy New Year!

PE: Honorable mention at Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies challenge!

Hello! I am already almost half a month away, but I think I can have the whole of January to wish someone a Happy New Year, so there! 😀

These are the cards I made for the family this year.

As I do for every year, this time too, I have common theme and design. This year, I planned to

• Use colored cardstock as my card base
• Use layered flower stamps as the focal
• Use dies for the background
• Have some kind of a different fold than the usual.

For these cards, I made the card open in between. The bottom half is tucked in between the foil strip and the colored card base. So, one has to kinda pull the bottom half of the card towards themselves to open the card.

For the first card, I used navy blue cardstock, added pieces die cut from Simon Says Stamp Clustered Flowers die. On this I added a strip of silver mirror card stock. I then adhered all the leaves and flowers in layers. The focal flower comes from Hero Arts Flower Layering Hibiscus stamp set, and the other pieces are from other stamp set.

For the second card, I used Spellbinders Doily Circle dies, die cutting cream and yellow cardstocks and alternating them between each circle when adhering. I used a gold mirror cardstock strip on this one, and the focal rose is from Altenew’s Build a Flower: Rose.

For the third card, I used Stamplorations Bloomtangled 1 die with a strip of silver mirror card stock. The flowers are a stamp set  from Right at Home called Sunflower.

For the fourth card, I used Altenew’s Doodled Lace die cut, a strip of gold mirror cardstock and then Altenew’s Layered Lili as the focal point.

On all of these cards, I used the sentiment which is a combination of Lil Inker Designs’ Rustic Spring and Reverse Confetti’s Whole Lotta Happy stamp sets. I used the same on the self made envelops as well. This time I used Fabriano Tinta paper to make the envelopes.
