#640 – Color Blending with Distress Oxide Inks

Hello! Feel like its again been some time since I blogged, and its becoming a norm!! But the weather is not agreeing with me, and I am falling sick again and again.. sigh, I am just glad I could finally take some snaps and finally blog!! 😀

Anyway, I made this one layer CAS  card, using just blending and stencil – you know hard it is for me to limit myself, and this card went through the same ordeal I have every time I make something CAS – stopping myself at CAS!! 😉

To make this card, I first blended distress oxide inks – Peeled Paint, Broken China and Wilted Violet – the blending also generated in-between colors (like the dark blue, which is very visible!) on kraft cardstock. I then placed my stencil, Mini Flower Frenzy from The Crafter’s Workshop above, and misted with pearlized water. After a second or two, I quickly removed the excess water using some tissue. And magic happened!! 😀

For the sentiment I used Altenew Adore You stamp set, which I heat embossed in white.

Hello! I finally escaped took some time off from making a cards (for a few celebrations we have within family and friends), and made this card today –

Made this simple one layer card using some stash I’ve had with me since forever! You know, I become pretty happy when I use these old stamps so well, combine them and have something good come out! 😀

I used Hero Arts Color Layering Hibiscus, Hero Arts Leafy Vines for the flowers and background and Technique Tuesday Hello Sunshine for the sentiment.

#580 – Chasing Mojo and Wishing You..

PE: Headliner at The Paper Players!!

Hello! I am submitting another card for the Chasing Mojo with Sweet Kobylkin challenge.

This time, I am CASEing the amazing lady herself – Ksenija aka Sweet Kobylkin (finally, yay! 😉 ). Here’s her card to CASE

Here’s how Kseija has made her beautiful card -masking, ink blending and then taking off the mask to stamp. I didn’t realize how sweet this technique is until I made a card with the same!

I just switched the colors and the layout..and such a splendid effect!! Of course, I do have a little goof-up! 😦 See the bottom right edge? See how it is no bright white?? That’s because, when I first made the card, I hadn’t blended the ink over the entire card, it was only on the right half. But once done, I decided to add the color over the entire card, and since I had already colored the right, I didn’t mask it…and then when I came back to darken it up a little…sigh… I guess it could have been worse…and yes, I was too lazy to start over! 😉 Well, I will definitely be making more with this technique, so.. yes, I think I’ll get over this little mistake in no time! 😛

Supplies used –
Altenew Layered Lily
Altenew Orikami
Distress inks Crushed Olive, Peeled Paint, Black Soot
Memento Lulu Lavender + PTI Sweet Blush, Memento Sweet Plum, Memento Elderberry

#470 – Critter Calls 2

PE: Winner at Cupcake Inspirations challenge!!

Global Design Project Winner!!

Global Design Project - Winner

Hello! Back with more critter CAS cards! Think I am on a roll? I don’t think so – I just finished all the critter ideas I had, and I don’t think I’ll be getting any more in the near future! 😛 In the meantime, I am also celebrating 2 years of blogging! I never even remembered until today! 🙂

Well, setting that aside, here’s my first card –

I used only WPlus9 Happy Mail for this card. After stamping the critters in Paper Trey Ink Classic Kraft, I watercolored them using Dried Marigold + Tattered Rose, Pumice Stone and Seedless Preserves distress inks. I then trimmed the panel, rounded the top corners, stamped the sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black and foam mounted the panel on the card base.

For my second card, I actually went back and forth three times before coming up with the final version –

I realized the best way to make these cards involving critters in CAS is to confine the stamped space to a small area – spreading it all over the card just wasn’t working for me! Coming back to the card – I first cut out a panel using My Favorite Things Pinking Edge Rectangle, stamped the doggie from My Favorite Things Top Dog using Memento Tuxedo Black and die cut the kite, from Paper Smooches Kite. I also die cut the kite from some plaid pattern paper from DCWV Floral Stack. I then sponged in the sky and grass using Mowed Lawn and Cracked Pistachio distress inks and colored the heart and the little doggie’s scarf using Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens. After stamping the sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black I also drew the kite’s string using Copic Multi-liner 0.3 pen. I then used a scrap piece of card stock to adhere the kite and the card panel and foam mounted the while thing on the card base using foam tape.

#466 – A Couple of CAS Cards

PE: Top 3 at Sovushka Slavia!!

Sovushka Slavia - Top 3

Winner at Happy Little Stampers!!!!

Happy Little Stampers - CAS Winner Badge

Today I am presenting a couple of CAS cards.

The first card is a one layer – and if there is a simpler card to make, I wouldn’t know! The only difficult part in this might be the fussy cutting involved while creating the mask! 😀

Submitting this card to Sovushka Slavia Card Sketch #48, One Layer Simplicity Challenge #26: As You Wish, AAA Card Challenge #62: Anything Goes and Less Is More Challenge @271: One Layer Card with Geometric Shapes or Patterns

To make this one layered card, I first stamped the cat and the ball of yarn along with the sentiment from My Favorite Things I Knead You on my card base using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then colored them using Faber Castell Polychromos color pencils. I then made the masks for them and used the stencil The Crafer’s Workshop Mini Garden Gate to blend in some Pumice Stone distress ink. That’s it, we’re done! 🙂

For my second card, I used a technique called stencil mono-printing. I used Prima Magnolias and added some Paper Trey Ink inks on the stencil, misted it with water and pressed it on a card panel to get the the stencil’s mono-print. Once this was dry, I trimmed the sides and used the sentiment die from Paper Trey Ink Good Times to die cut and trimmed the excess from the sides. I added another piece of the same die cut from white card stock, adhered it using some cellophane tape and foam mounted it on the card base. I then stamped the sentiment from Paper Trey Ink Good Times using Memento Tuxedo black ink. I thought of adding a few sequins, but stopped it, since I did want to make it CAS! 😀
