#698 – Sending Joy

Hello! And here’s the last of the trio of cards I had made (first one here and the second one here)..

2017-11-22(3a)

On this card too, I tried making the background using pretty, shiny acrylic paints. But instead of using foil, I used embossing powder. In fact, I thought that the embossing powder might also stick to the paper like the foil did, but no suck luck.. guess the stickiness is not as much! 😛 So, I had to use Versamark ink, as per usual.

2017-11-22(3b)

Anyway, on this card, I used Art Alchemy Metallique Mermaid Teal. This didn’t spread/apply as clearly as the Rusty Red paint, so I could see stripes of dark and light (I brushed the paint on using vertical brush strokes), but this is mostly covered by the embossing and further by the vellum. Of course, it did look pretty even otherwise, and went well with the variegated look of the Verdigris embossing powder.

Anyway, I used Neat and Tangled Rice paddies stencil along with Neat and Tangled stamps Winter Wishes and Art Deco for the scene and sentiments, with Neat and Tangled Scalloped die for diecutting the vellum panel.

#442 – A Tropical Christmas

PE: Honorable Mention at Merry Monday!!

Merry Monday - Honorable Mention

Hello!

When I first saw the challenge at Merry Monday, I was stumped! Tropical and Christmas?? How do they go together?! Of course, the DT had provided some fantastic inspiration, but I was still lost! Moreover, I didn’t think I had anything tropical with me, which I could turn Christmas-y! But then, this Waffle Flower stamp set I just ordered was perfect!

2016-03-04(3)

I first created a mask using Spellbinders Deckled Rectangles, adhering it to the center of the card base, I chose three shades of green – Memento Pear Tart, Memento Cottage Ivy and Hero Arts Tide Pool and stamped the leaves from Waffle Flower Leafy stamp set. Once done, I removed the mask, stamped the sentiment from Paper Trey Ink ‘Tis The Season in Memento Tuxedo Black, and the bird from the same Waffle Flower stamp set Leafy, in Memento Lady Bug. I also stamped a few berries from Avery Elle Petals & Stems in Memento Lady Bug.  And that’s my tropical Christmas card! 🙂 How do you like it?

#405 – Guest Designer at Merry Monday!!

Hello! I was granted the opportunity to feature as Guest Designer over at Merry Monday Challenge after I won one of their previous challenges.

The challenge this time is to make a one layer Christmas card.

Merry Monday Challenge Graphic

And here’s mine –

2016-01-18(1a)

To make this card, I first stamped the falling snow, using the stamp from Paper Trey Ink Good Times mixing Hero Arts Soft Pool and Tide Pool inks. I then stamped the happy snowman, from Paper Smooches Swanky Snowdudes, using Antique Linen distress ink and then colored him using Faber Castell Polychromos color pencils. I also colored the snow he’s standing on using the pencils. I finally stamped the sentiment from Paper Trey Ink ‘Tis The Season using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

2016-01-18(1b)

Finally I added a bit of sparkle using Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen. I touched a few of the falling snowflake dots, the sentiment and the snowman. A little glitter looks really awesome (yeah, it doesn’t show at all in these images, but it really is beautiful IRL)! Made me think that there really was snow on the card! 😉

Well, that’s my card! Very simple, very easy! 🙂

Please do pop over at Merry Monday challenge – they’ve got some fantastic inspiration for your Christmas cards! And don’t forget to participate! 🙂

And here’s my card as the GD –

2016-01-05(1a)

This is one card that came out better than I had imagined! 😀

I first stamped the Neat & Tangled Warm Wishes, centering as much as possible, and heat embossed it in silver. I colored using Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens. I then added a circle frame using two circle dies from We R Memory Keepers Quickutz Nesting Circles. I also created a mask by cutting scrap paper using the smaller circle and used the negative to sponge some Tumbled Glass distress ink. I then stamped the stars from Just Rite Bokeh Time on top and bottom and also heat embossed it in silver. And that finished my card! 🙂

Hope you liked the card as much as I did, real easy to make too! 🙂 Also, do stop by the One Layer Christmas Challenge – you are sure to get inspired by the fabulous DT there! 🙂

#396 – Snowflake Joy

PE: Winner at Merry Monday Challenge!!!

Merry Monday - Challenge Winner

Hello! Back with another card today.

It is kinda rare for me to use card base with color other than white – I do use pattern papers over the card base, but changing the color is something that doesn’t occur to me much. Neither does stamping the sentiment in any color other than black. That is even rarer – in fact, it almost feels  like I’ve got some brilliant idea when I stamp the sentiment in a non-black color! 😀 So, this card, which includes both, is pretty rare –

2016-01-12

For this card, I tried making a partial plaid pattern on the red card base. I used Winnie & Walter Scenery:Stripes along with Memento Tuxedo Black, Hero Arts Soft Granite and Hero Arts Unicorn inks, and mostly restricted the criss-crossing only in the upper right – I don’t think its so apparent in the end – but its ok 😛

Once I was done, I cut the snowflakes from Simon Says Stamp More Fun Flakes from white card stock and also card stock with I had painted with silver acrylic paint – this gives a beautiful metallic look – love it! 🙂 I then cut another piece of white card stock for the sentiment, cutting the top to a curved edge. The sentiment, from Paper Trey Ink ‘Tis The Season is stamped using ink from Faber Castell red stamp pad. I then adhered the pieces together and added some clear rhinestones over the snowflakes – what are snowflakes with out rhinestones on them! 😛
