#806 – Happy New Year!!

Hello and welcome!! Its going to be the new year in a few more hours, and so… wish everyone a very happy and prosperous new year!! 🙂

Of course, this also calls for some cards! The newest installment of the new year cards – the cards I made for my family this year –

Happy New Year (All Cards)

As always, I used the same concept on all of them. This time, though, I had no idea how to start or where to proceed, so I am really glad they came out well! I initially thought of making something interactive or even a shadow box, but all of that went to the dumps. I ended up with just a folded card – with florals…florals always!! 😉 I used white and ivory cardstocks for two cards each. Most of the floral images come from Altenew. The ‘happy’ die cut is from Mama Elephant cut out from cardstock with gold foil and the rest of the stamped sentiment is from the same company’s Calli Letters.

Of course, the envelopes also need to be handmade! I used the same design as the background I had used on the cards. I swapped the die cut to a colorful one, using the rest of the sentiment as is.

Happy New Year (Card 1)

On the first card, I used a combination of Altenew’s Garden Treasure and Peony Bouquet stamps. The background pattern is using Lil Inker Design’s Really Rosemaling.

Happy New Year (Card 2)

On the second card, I used, once again, Altenew’s Garden Treasure and Peony Bouquet with leaves from Beautiful Day. The background is a stencil from The Crafters Workshop, called Mini Solace.

Happy New Year (Card 3)

On the third one, I used Altenew Build a Flower: Rose and Vintage Flowers. The background is Waffle Flowers Layered Marble.

Happy New Year (Card 4)

And on this last one, I used Altenew Bride-to-be and Winnie & Walter In Bloom: Victorias Very Merry Flowers. The background uses the stencil from The Crafters Workshop called Mini Garden Gate, which I used twice for two colors, overlaying for the second color to get that illusion like effect.

Happy New Year (Inside the Card)

And here’s how the card opens up..and where I’ve written out the message.

Hello and a very happy new year to everyone! I now I am a day late.. I was out yesterday and didn’t have time to click the snaps and post it yesterday. Well, a day late is still ok, isn’t it? 😛

I am presenting here four cards that I made for my family this year. Its kinda become a tradition for me to make four cards during New Year and Diwali for the family, following a single theme of design/technique/both. (Check out the cards I made for 2017 and 2016 New Year’s)

And here are this year’s cards –

Happy New Year

After making a couple of vintage looking cards, I kinda started liking the look of them, and decided to make that the theme this year. Also, a big reason to make this true were the Prima watercolor pencils I got sometime last month. I had already owned a couple of sets of these pencils and absolutely loved them, and I ordered all the sets I could when they went on sale. I love the soft colors that these pencils give, which is just perfect for making vintage looking cards.

I chose a common design for making all the cards and the envelopes. I used outlined flower and leaf images from various companies, watercolored them using the Prima watercolor pencils. I used Canson watercolor paper. The sentiment on all of them is from the Mama Elephant Calli Letters and Calli Uppercase Letters stamped using Versamark Onyx Black ink. The envelopes are self made.

After trimming the watercolor panels and adhering them on grey cardstock, I added a couple of lines using silver Unibal Signo gel pen, to give the panel a sort of a frame. Since I wasn’t going for any additional embellishment, this would provide my cards a sort of ‘finished’ look.

Now lets go to the details of each card –

Happy New Year

I used Altenew Peony Bouquet and Altenew Beautiful Day stamp sets.

#571 – New Year’s Cards

Hello! I usually post New Year’s cards I make for my family right on the first day of the new year..this time I am late since I was just plain lazy, carrying over the sloth to take photos of the cards to the new year.. please don’t mind me, I am pretty sure I’ll pick up in a few months! 😉 😛

Here’s the set of cards I made –

New Year Cards 2016-17

I had a very simple design concept in mind – I wanted to do stamping, no other special techniques, just simple stamping followed by die cutting and inlaid die cut pieces in silver (I painted them silver using acrylic paint) for the sentiment.

New Year Card 1 (2016-17)

Now that I had decided this, I of course, went for my favorite stamps – flower stamps to make my cards! The flowers came from different stamp sets, as you see, and once done, I die cut the panel, added the sentiment using some scotch tape and then mounted it on my card base.

New Year Card 1 (2016-17)

Event the envelopes are all the same. I wanted the sentiment font to be as similar as possible to the one on the card, so I chose Reverse Confetti Whole Lotta Happy stamp set. I stamped this in black ink first and then stamped it again using Memento Brilliant Galaxy Gold ink.

New Year Card 1 (2016-17)

Before I stamped the sentiment, I used Hero Arts Leaves and Flowers background stamp on the envelope, stamping using Versamark watermark ink and then wiped some Perfect Pearls, each corresponding to the color or the envelope. However I was a bit unlucky with this, as the ink somehow didn’t stick to the paper and the neither did too much of the Perfect Pearls; and since I hadn’t used MISTI, I couldn’t stamp it again, without messing it up big time. But I thought it was still ok.. since the cards were pretty! 😉

#390 – The Best of the Past Year

I began this blog in May 2014. The beginning of the year 2015, I saw many card-making bloggers post the best of their cards from the previous year. I loved that idea so much, I wanted to try it myself. But since I had started only in the mid of the year, I thought of postponing this idea to the next year, when I would have posts throughout the year. And that’s what this post is all about. I am posting here cards which are my favorites, from each month of the year 2015. I mostly have chosen a single card from every month, but I have more in a few others, where I just couldn’t choose which I like the best!

Here goes… 😀

Pinterest Inspired Challenge

I had a tough time selecting these cards – more so for some months than the others. I skipped cards I had made for family – if they are included, I would omit some other favorites of mine and the post would be too long! 😛 But I did love to see my own cards after such a long time! I’ve written a total of 280+ posts this year, and more cards than that!

Since I started with card-making, I have been knocked off my feet by so many card makers, inspired and inspired again by their fabulous creations. I’ve been lucky enough to win in challenges, even honoured by others to participate as Guest Designer. I have even been graced by the friends I’ve made over blog land, who comment on my post, giving me so much support. Most of all, by my family, who have never once said a word against me buying so many supplies, instead praise even the worst of my works!! 😉 I couldn’t thank you all enough, but I must say – Thanks, from the bottom of my heart! 😀

Last but not the least, a very happy new year to every one of you! May the year ahead bring you lots of happiness, peace, health and joy of achievements and success!

And here’s looking forward to another fantastic year! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

#389 – Happy New Year!!

Hello and wish every one of you a very happy new year!! May the year bring you loads of joy, notable success and see you always in great health!

Here are a few cards I’ve made for my family for the new year (since the techniques are all pretty straight forward, I am only giving the ingredients of the recipes here :D). I actually ended up making four cards, when I intended to make three. So I thought of giving one to myself – I do deserve it!! 😛 😀

For my first card –

Card 2 - Golden GardenThe card base is Paper Trey Ink Rustic White. I used Altenew Golden Garden stamped in Hero Arts Black ink and the watercolored it using Distress Inks Mermaid Lagoon, Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint. The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter The Big, The Bold & The Happy, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added some shimmer and shine using Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen.

For my second card –

Card 1 - Layered HibiscusThe card base is Fabriano Elle Erre White. I love this paper for the fine texture and a good stamping experience. I used Altenew Layered Lily stamped using the combinations of Memento Dandelion, Hero Arts Butter Bar, Hero Arts Soft Cantaloupe and Hero Arts Neon Red. The sentiment is stamped using Paper Smooches Alphadot and Memento Tuxedo Black. I added some shimmer and shine using Deco Art Glamour Dust Ultra Fine Glitter Paint in gold (for the flowers) and silver (for the leaves).

For my third card (which took the longest for the coloring) –

Card 3 - Lacy ScrollsThe card base is Fabriano Elle Erre Brina. I used Altenew Lacy Scrolls and first stamped the flowers using Hero Arts Soft Pool and the leaves in Memento Pear Tart. I then colored them using my Faber Castell Polychromos. The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter The Big, The Bold & The Happy stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black. I added some shimmer and shine in the flower’s centers using Deco Art Glamour Dust Ultra Fine Glitter Paint in gold.

And here’s the extra card –

Card 4 - Painted FlowersThe card base is Paper Trey Ink Rustic White. I used flowers from Altenew Painted Flowers and WPlus9 Fresh Cut Florals. I colored the Painted Flowers using PTI Sweet Blush, Hero Arts Soft Cantaloupe and the Fresh Cut Florals using PTI Sweet Blush, Hero Arts Bubble Gum. I used Memento Pear Tart, PTI Simple Chartreuse for the leaves. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Fanciful Swirl. All the black are inked using Memento Tuxedo Black. I added some shimmer and shine using Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen

Did you notice I’ve used Altenew stamped as the main focus on all the cards?  Did you notice that they are all one layer? Yay!! I love them all!! 😀

EnvelopesAnd here are the hand-made envelope. I got a stash of white copy paper and made these envelopes using them. Co-ordinating each envelope with the card inside was really easy, I only turned then BnW! 😀 I used Hero Arts Soft Granite & Tide Pool for the envelopes of the last three cards, but I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens in Cool Grey and Blue Grey for the first card’s envelope, since it was neither a solid stamp, nor had filler stamps for the flowers. I’ve handwritten the sentiment using a Copic Multiliner 0.3.

I hope my family loves these cards and I hope they have a fantastic new year (and all the rest of the stuff written in the messages inside the cards)! And I once again wish you all a very happy new year!

Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Happy New Year!

And I am back with another (yes, another) New Year’s card! A very simple card this time. And I know the ‘new’ part of the year is slowly getting old, but frankly, I am not getting tired of making them yet, so there’s probably many more I am gonna make!! 😀

Happy New Year!

So, for this card, I picked a few distress inks – Ripe Persimmon, Tumbled Glass, Crushed Olive and Dusty Concord. I squished these inks randomly on my craft mat, misted them a bit with water forming a temporary, colorful ink pad. I then picked up the ink using stamps from Kaisercraft Numbers stamp set and stamped the digits in the center of the card.

Happy New Year! (close up)

I then picked up the alphabets from Fiskar Basic Font stamp set, placed them in different angles on my acrylic block and stamped them, again in the center and on the digits, using Hero Arts black ink.

That’s it! A beautiful, simple CAS card – I couldn’t have done any better! 😀

I am submitting this card to CASology Challenge #128 and One Layer Simplicity Challenge #12 – Attractive Opposites ( the colors and BnW are opposites). I should mention that I’ve taken Ardyth’s Card in CASology and my own card here as inspiration for this card.

Thanks for looking!

A Celebration In Gold

And another…and another…and another! Just can’t seem to stop myself from making these New Year cards! 😀 This time, I made a card with white and gold combination – which is quickly becoming one of my favorites! 😉

A Celebration In Gold

The panel on top was something from my ‘leftover’ stash – I had made it for another card, but never used it. The piece was gold heat embossed on an area stamped with Heidi Swapp Chevrons stamp. I first trimmed it to size. I had colored it yellow, but I colored over it again – I sponged the edges with Tea Dye distress ink and the middle with Squeezed Lemonade. I cut this piece diagonally. I then cut two pieces of some laced pearls I have (I don’t know how else to explain it :() And adhered them to the inner edges of the gold embossed panel.

A Celebration In Gold (close up 1)

I then die cut a few pieces of the sentiment using Die Versions ‘Celebrate’ die and adhered them all together. I then colored it gold using Uniball Gold Marker (btw, I just absolutely love this pen!)

A Celebration In Gold (close up 2)

After placing these on the card, I felt that something was missing. The card needed more gold! 😀 So, I picked up the same gold marker (did I mention that I really really love this marker?) and marked some diagonal lines to the side left exposed by the gold embossing panel. After this, I foam mounted the gold embossed panel on the right and adhered the die cut sentiment in between.

This finished my card! I absolutely love how this turned out! And I loved all that gold! Thanks for looking!
