Its been some time since I used the Altenew Dodecagram stamp set. Altenew is one of my favorite stamp companies – I would buy every stamp they have, if I had the money! But, I’ll do with the ones I have first! 🙂
I must have tried a hundred color combinations before deciding on this set. I even debated between making it a solid color or a gradient. For this card especially, I think the ‘preparation’ took a hell of a time than the actual card!
So, coming to the card- I stamped the images in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored them using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens. I then trimmed the piece, going around the images stamped on the right. I then wrapper a thin gold embroidery thread around this piece and stamped the sentiment from the same set using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. For the card base, I used Simon Says Stamp Seeing Spots stencil with Fossilzed Amber distress ink. I then mounted the panel on top.
Now, for the embellishment – I wanted to use enamel dots, but I don’t have any. I have never bought any. I feel that they are not a good investment for me, since they cost a lot (when calculated in Rupees) and I don’t get many in one set. So, I usually try to come up with an alternative. I’ve used nail polish and acrylic paint, with some success. This time, I used acrylic paint on some pearls. What do you think?

Hello! Couple of cards this time, with ways to use watercoloring with flowers.
For my first card, I used watercoloring to the flower –
After stamping the flowers from Altenew Magnolias For Her in Dried Marigold distress ink, I used Dried Marigold and Abandoned Coral distress inks to color the flowers. I then added some highlights using color pencils and also added the stem for one of the colors. The stripes come from Winnie & Walter Scenery: Stripes, which I stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, Rich Cocoa, Potter’s Clay inks. The sentiment is from Altenew Magnolias For Her, which I stamped in Memento Potter’s Clay. I then die cut two sides using a die from Paper Smooches Borders 2 and mounted it on a kraft card base. I then added some gold glitter stickles and a few gold sequins to embellish.

For my second card, I used watercoloring in my background, keeping the flower (die cuts) nice & pretty & white. Of course, I did add some glitter using Wink of Stella clear glitter. 😀
After watercoloring, I added the flowers and leaves from Ellen Hutson Bold Blooms and added the glitter, sequins and the rhinestones. I then added the blue patterned washi tape behind (by first adding it to a strip of cardstock) and mounted it to a black card base. I had actually forgotten to stamp the sentiment and only did it after I mounted the watercolor panel – and since it didn’t stamp well, I had to go over the entire sentiment again with my black pen! 😀 Thankfully, the sentiment is big and I could do that easily!! 😛

… stuff from my stash – that’s what is used in these cards –
The first card uses the latest in my collection – Reverse Confetti Leaping Lions (stamp & die).
I colored some scrap strips using Color Box Teal and Color Box Violet inks and die cut them using MFT Chevron Stripes, adhering them on the card base to form the background. I stamped and die cut the lion & the stand and colored the lion using my sketch pens. After stamping the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I also added a few stars behind the lion using Memento Dandelion and Versamark Orange ink and cut one end of the panel using WPLus9 Scalloped Border die, and adhered all the pieces together. I also die cut the buttons using Impression Obsession Buttons, colored them using my sketch pens. I added these along with some black string tied around the card.

For my second card, I used one of the oldest items in my stash – Itsy Bitsy Leaf Thincuts. This is one of the first supplies I bought! 🙂
I first made the background using kraft cardstock and pattern paper from K & Company. I then die cut a couple of leaves from brown texture paper using the Itsy Bitsy Leaf Thincuts. I then distressed it using Prima Comfort Craft Distressing tool. After adhering the whole thing, I stamped the sentiment using Fiskars Basic Font and Memento Tuxedo Black ink

I’ve made a couple of cards, this time for two sketch based challenges.
My first card is for CAS(E) This Sketch #135 –
I started with the bunny from Mama Elephant Honey Bunny. After stamping it in Antique Linen distress ink, I watercolored it using Inktense pencils. I then stamped the carrot and the party hat using Memento Tangelo, Pear Tart, Sweet Plum. For the sentiment, I cut the upper portion of the panel using WPlus9 Scalloped Border and stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then added the dashed lines using Copic Multiliner. For adhering the bunny, I used scraps I had from coloring other cards – they make a fantastic backdrop, don’t they! 😉
Now, for my second card, for Retro Sketches Challenge #176 –
I used pattern papers from Best of K & Company from K & Company for the background. I then stamped the Penny Black Dazzlers using Faber Castell green ink, Memento Bamboo Leaves, Memento Rich Cocoa, fuzzy cut them and adhered them on die cut a circle to create dimension. I then cut the lacy border using Joy Crafts Lacey Border, stamped the sentiment from a stamp set from The Craft’s Meow (forgot its name!) using Memento Rich Cocoa and adhered all the pieces together. I then added some pearls for embellishment.
And that’s my two cards for the sketch challenges! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
Hello! I made a card last night for the Retro Sketches Challenge #169.
I started with the tulips – which are actually leaf die cuts from Flower Layers & Leaves by Sizzix, and colored them using Copic markers. I then cut out the inner rectangle using Deckled Rectangles by Spellbinders, and stamped the stems using Country Charm by WPlus9 and Hero Arts Tide Pool ink. I added a sew ink splatters using Weathered Wood distress ink. After adhering the tulips came the sentiment from Sentiments by Bo Bunny stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then drew the rectangle around using Copic Multiliner and finally added the pearls on the tulips.
I then selected the pattern paper from Christmas & Winter stack by DCWV and drew the lines around it using the same Copic Multiliner. I cut a piece another pattern paper from the same stack to adhere it over the first rectangle. I then adhered a couple of stripes of white ribbon on. Finally adhered everything in place over a black card stock.
And here’s the sketch from the challenge –

I am back with another card! I had mentioned just a few days earlier, in one of my posts, that I find layering difficult, and that I wanted to make a few more attempts at it. One of the commenters, Shannon, told me think of ‘Layers as friends’ – that kinda stuck! 🙂 I am making another attempt here at layering –
Looks pretty simple to make doesn’t it? 😛 Thankfully, this time, all the elements I picked fit just right right from the first time, so I was saved. Otherwise, I usually end up spending hours, just looking for things that match (now, you know the secret behind my fear of layers! :P)!
For this card, I used Petals & Stems by Avery Elle and stamped the flowers and leaves using Memento Bamboo Leaves, Memento Grape Jelly and Hero Arts Neon Blue. I fuzzy cut the flowers and a couple of the leaves for adding dimension. I cut the circle using Quickutz Nesting Circles by W R Memory Keepers and stamped my flowers and leaves before adding the fuzzy cuts. I also added the dashed line using a Copic Multi-liner, plus simple silver glitter in the flower centers. The sentiment is from the same stamp set, stamped in Memento Grape Jelly. The pattern papers are from the same set – Halloween & Fall stack by DCWV.

Just can’t get enough of this color combination!! It seems that no matter what you make with it, it will look just great! 🙂 I’ve already made cards with the combination here, here and here, but, like I said..just can’t get enough!! 😀
For this card, I used Painted Flowers stamp set from Altenew which I stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and Pamas Yellow pigment ink. I then die cut the circle using Delightful Circles from Spelllbinders, on which I stamped the sentiment from Bokeh Time from JustRite in Unicorn pigment ink from Hero Arts.
I then trimmed both the panels and adhered it on a black card base. Simple and easy card. 🙂
I am submitting this card to Retro Sketches #160 and Color Throwdown #339.
