#1033 – STB: Card for a Child

Hello and welcome! It’s time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and this time, the Topping is chosen by Linda to be ‘Card for a Child‘. Of course, the topping is optional and you can choose to go without it and make any Birthday project to join the challenge.

And here’s what I made –

Using black cardstock might not seem too bright, maybe not the perfect color for a child, but I still went with it. I mean, why not have Unicorns and rainbows on a night sky, right? They still look fabulous, day or night!! 😀

On a black card stock panel, I stamped a unicorn from the MFT Friendly Unicorn stamp set using white pigment ink and used my Faber Castell Polychromos pencils to color it. I also colored the rainbow below it. I then splattered some stars using white pigment ink with some water and brush. I also added some meteorites above and painted some clouds below using the same pigment ink.

I then die cut the panel using Neat & Tangled Scalloped die and then tried to blend in some white pigment ink from the edges…which didn’t blend in very well. Hmmm. Nothing I can do at this point, so I left it as is. I then stamped the sentiment from the same set using white pigment ink as well. I then added this panel over a black card base. And that finished my card!

#1016 – STB: Food, Glorious Food

Hello and welcome! We have a new challenge at Seize the Birthday. Its always an Anything Goes challenge with a Birthday theme, but we also have a Topping chosen, if you want to go with it. The topping this time was chosen by our dear friend Lindsey a long time ago as ‘Food, Glorious Food‘.

And this time, I made a shaker card! 🙂 I think Lindsey would have liked this!

This card is inspired by another food shaker card I had made last year. I love the concept of using stamped images instead of only sequins/beads as the shaker elements. So this time, I used cupcakes as one of the shaker elements!

I first stamped the cupcakes from Mama Elephant Carnival Cupcakes in a light kraft color and then colored them using Zig Brush Markers. I then fussy cut them. For the shaker base, I used Winnie & Walter Buffalo Check stencil on a white card stock panel and used kraft, green and pink colors to lightly brush on the stencil to get a lighter color blending. For the shaker window, I used Neat and Tangled Scalloped die.

Since the cupcakes themselves wouldn’t be enough, I also used a few sequins and beads in the color of the cupcakes in the shaker card. Of course, before finishing the card, I had to stamp the sentiment as well. Its a combination of sentiments from Honey Bee Stamps Pearfect Sentiments and Concord & 9th Tiny Tagalongs stamp sets.

And that’s my card. Checkout what my teammates and our Surprise Party Guest, AÌŠsa Johansson, have created at the Seize the Birthday challenge blog.
