Here’s the card I made for your inspiration –

Celebrate

I used Lil Inker Designs Geometric Snow for dry embossing the background, then used candles from Simon Says Stamp Big Birthday Wishes. The sentiment comes from Winnie & Walter Wish Big with Evelin T Designs. I added a few gold sequins as embellishment.

#716 – Seize the Birthday – One Layer

Hello and welcome to a new challenge at Seize the Birthday! This time we have a Topping of ‘One Layer’. But you are free to join the challenge with any new Birthday project, if you do not want to choose the Topping.

Seize The Birthday - The Toppings

Seize The Birthday - Anything Goes

Here’s the one layer card I made –

Celebrate

I used a combination of flowers from Altenew Layered Lily and Hero Arts Color Layering Hibiscus. I always felt that the images from the two stamp sets would go well together, so I am glad to finally put it on a card! 🙂 I used distress inks, misted with water to stamp.

Once dry, I added the sentiment, from Waffle Flower Congrats and Winnie & Walter Sentimental: Birthday. I didn’t think and ended up stamping the smaller sentences on an already black background.. but I let it be. You can partially make out the sentence, plus, I am not actually sending it to anyone!! 😉

#710 – Coloring with Pens and Stripes

Hello! We have a new challenge up at Seize the Birthday, and this time we are having a ‘No Toppings’ or anything goes challenge, which means that you can just join the fun with any Birthday project of your choice!

Seize The Birthday - Anything Goes

And here’s my card – I’ve had this pretty stamp set from Simon Says Stamp from such a long time, but I haven’t made something I was happy with with it ever since I bought it. But this time, somehow the technique, images and idea clicked! 🙂

Sending Birthday Wishes

For the background, I used Spellbinders Paisley embossing folder. For the top panel, I first cut out a 3*4.25 inches panel, stamped the images from Simon Says Stamp Look For the Miracles stamp set. I used a mid tone gray ink, since I knew that the pens’ inks were darker and would definitely color over this gray.. why simply stamp in a light ink when you can have things easier, right? 😉

Sending Birthday Wishes

Once done stamping, I started drawing the stripes over all the images. These are Uniball gel pens that I used. Pretty good quality, since its been quite some time since I bought them, and they haven’t dried yet, even though I haven’t used them.

Sending Birthday Wishes

For the sentiment, I stamped the portion below with black ink. There was a little of the ink pad’s fiber there, which ended up as a blotch, but I let it be… handmade, right!? 😛 That sentiment is from Winnie & Walter In Bloom: Coralina’s Flowers. The die cut part is from Paper Trey Ink Wet Paint 3, which I colored with Fossilized Amber distress oxide ink, then added some Sunshine perfect pearls on top, for some shine that matched the gold pen that I used earlier on the images. And that’s my card!

#696 – Seize the Birthday – Monochromatic

Hello and welcome to a new challenge at Seize the Birthday! The challenge is to create a project related to ‘Birthday’ with or without the ‘Topping’. Its the last challenge for this year, since we will be going on a break until the new year after this. And the topping this time is, you guessed it right, Monochromatic!

Seize The Birthday - The Toppings

Seize The Birthday - Anything Goes

And here’s the monochromatic card I made –

Birthday Wishes

I used Penny Black Floral Tapestry stamp. God knows how long I’ve had this in my stash, and I’ve never used it! I think I had bought it to make a birthday card for my Ma, but never used it… I don’t even remember what I ended up making then, but it definitely didn’t use this stamp. So I am glad I got to make a birthday card with it – so the original purpose has been served!! 😀

So, anyway, I used Abandoned Coral distress oxide ink to stamp the image on a simple white card case. I then used Winnie & Walter In A Word: Birthday Tiles along with Spellbinders A2 Curved Matting Bases dies to make the sentiment – the two dies fit so perfectly together! The stamped part of the sentiment comes from Concord & 9th Cuddles & Hugs. I added a few drops of gold and silver Nuvo drops for something extra. 🙂

#692 – Seize the Birthday – Circles

Hello! Its time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday. The topping this time is to use ‘Circles’ on your birthday themed project. Of course, as usual, there us also an optional “toppings” challenge, and as long as your project is birthday-related, it’s worthy of entry!

Seize The Birthday - The Toppings

Seize The Birthday - Anything Goes

For my inspirational card, I went with a color palette of green, blue and teal –

Big Birthday Wishes

The stamps I used for the background are from Winnie and Walter Ring in the Celebration. To make the card, I first created three watercolor panels of blue, green and teal using distress inks, using the smooshing technique. I then stamped the image using either a grey ink or added white heat embossing. I used fuzzy cutting for some images, and used circle dies for whichever would fit.

Big Birthday Wishes

Then for the sentiment, I die cut the circle frame from white cardstock, and some vellum too and stamped the sentiment from Winnie & Walter Wish Big. Before adhering everything to the card base, I added splatters of blue and teal on the card base, and adhered everything using glue, for a flat finish.

Hope you liked my card. Do join us with your own Birthday creation. For more inspiration check out the the Seize the Birthday blog, where you can also see a totally awesome card from our Surprise Party Guest Becca Cruger!

#683 – Seize the Birthday – Kraft Card Base

Hello and welcome to a new challenge at Seize the Birthday! The optional topping this time is to use a Kraft Card Base.

Seize The Birthday - The Toppings

Seize The Birthday - Anything Goes

Here’ the card I made –

Happy Birthday

I wanted to use my Faber Castell Oil Pastels which had not seen light in such a long time. I chose some Kraft cardstock to color on – they go so well even on the dark kraft color, it was just amazing! 🙂 I first stamped the large image from Honey Bee Stamps Zen Bouquet stamp set, and began coloring it. I used some baby oil to spread and smooth out the pastels, and even blended two colors in a couple of places.

Happy Birthday

Now my initial idea for the sentiment was to do camouflage die cutting, layering it with black die cuts in between, but it didn’t work at all. 😦 After trying vellum, and even ink to darken the die cut, I finally gave up on camouflaging and colored the top die cut with Finnabair Art Alchemy Metallique Gold Rush acrylic paint. I think it complements the kraft cardstock and the colors well. Oh, the die cut is from Paper Smooches, by the way! 🙂

Happy Birthday

Once done, I trimmed the kraft cardstock at the sides, adhering it over black cardbase. After this, I adhered the sentiment in place. Since the card was colorful, I refrained from adding any further embellishing.

#677 – Seize the Birthday – No Toppings

Hello and welcome to a new challenge at Seize the Birthday! This time we are having a ‘No Toppings’ or anything goes challenge, that means that you can choose to just join us with any Birthday project of your choice!

Seize The Birthday - Anything Goes

And here’s the card I made –

Wishing You a Happy Birthday

I had this leftover piece of galaxy background from a previous card, and thought of using it along with the bunnies from WPlus9 Wishing You stamp set. I first set out to create the background. I die cut the galaxy piece along with a white card stock to a rectangle shape and after heat embossing the sentiment and a few stars in gold, adhered it to the white cardstock.

Wishing You a Happy Birthday

Then came the bunnies. These, I stamped using MFT Hybrid black ink, then lightly watercolored using Zig brush markers, and fuzzy cut. I then foam mounted the background over a grey card base and adhered the bunnies on top.

I hope you join us with a birthday project of your own. For more inspiration, hop over to Seize the Birthday blog, where there’s plenty of projects from our amazing DT and also our Surprise Party Guest, Becca Cruger!
