#595 – Grateful Butterflies

Hello! Its been quite some time since I joined a couple of challenges that I used to joined in so often. I just thought last month that I would love to at least have a few challenges that I would try my best not to miss. Made this card for two such challenges –

Grateful

I used MFT Lace Background, embossed it with black embossing powder, blended in some Faded Jeans distress ink. Once the background was dry, I diecut the butterflies from MFT Flutter of Butterflies and then added the sentiment from MFT Geometric Greenery on top.

Grateful

Hello! The card this time is inspired by the season of love. I made a card with the pretty combination of pink and gold, with a little black to add contrast. I saw this combination in quite a few creations recently, and was very tempted to try it. And here’s what I created –

#550 – Sovushka Slavia Guest Designer!!

Hello! I am so excited to be Guest Designing over at Sovushka Slavia for their new Sketch Challenge!! I am a big fan of the sketches they put out for their challenges, and I am super happy to be a guest this time!!

So, here’s the sketch –

sketch-nov-07

And here’s the card I made –

Sending Hugs

I first stamped the flowers from Ellen Hutson Mondo Peony using MFT Hybrid black ink, then colored them using Zig brush markers. That being my base, I progressed to the sentiment.

Sending Hugs

I die cut the ‘hugs’ using Lawn Fawn Quinn’s ABCs, then the dotted line using Paper Trey Ink Stitching Lines dies. I then stamped the rest of the sentiment Hero Arts All Occasion Messages. I then adhered this on the card base. That finished my card!

Thank you so much for having me over, Sovushka Slavia!! And thank you so much for stopping by! πŸ™‚

Happy Little Stampers Favorite!

Happy Little Stampers - CAS Favourite Badge

Hello! I first used foils in a guest post for Waffle Flower Crafts (and here in my blog). And I thought I definitely wanted to use this technique again – in fact, I wanted to use it with alcohol inks, color them, and use them.

And I had more than one reason – I just bought a stock of alcohol inks last month, and its the still the time to make fall and Christmas cards! I fell to temptation! πŸ˜€ And here are the results –

Thanks

Although both the cards involve alcohol inks, the application method is just a little bit different. For this card, I first adhered the foil on scrap card stock, applied the alcohol inks and then used Itsy Bitsy Leaf thincuts to die cut the leaves. I then used a felt applicator and some Blending ink to spread the colours.

2016-11-04(1b)

I then used the leaves on my card – a kraft card base, and another layer of kraft panel die cut using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches Thanks.

And the second card –

2016-11-05(1a)

Here, I applied the alcohol inks on just the foil, without adhering it to anything first. While the inks were still wet, I scrunched up the foil, so the inks would blend and spread. I then carefully unfolded it, pressed it using my die cut machine, then adhered it on scrap card stock, and finally used this for die cutting.

By the way, check out this snap my sister took of the foil just after I had pressed it – I just love it! πŸ™‚

Peace & Joy

Well, once the inks were dry, I used Simon Says Stamp More Fun Flakes to die cut some snowflakes. I used the same die to cut out some pieces using plain white cardstock. I also die cut the ampersand using Paper Trey Ink Grand Ampersand, stamped the sentiment using Hero Arts Butter Bar and Memento Rose Bud inks. I used a panel of watercolor paper, painted it pink and yellow and once dry, adhered it over my card base. I then added the snowflakes and the sentiment on this.

#539 – Sovushka Slavia CAS Marathon: Stage 3: Die-cutting

PE: Featured at PS Patrol!!!

Hello! Somehow, I am ending up making last minute submissions to the Sovushka Slavia CAS Marathon this time…I think I need to step up for the next round, at least! πŸ˜‰

ad75c-1

The theme this time is to use die cutting in your creation. My creation this time is a bit different from what I usually create – after having die-cutting as the main focus, I used pattern papers as the second focus. So, this card is all die cutting and pattern papers only!

Hello

I cut out pieces of pattern paper from The Best of American Crafts stack. The die cuts I used are Paper Smooches Bows, Paper Smooches Flowers 2 and Elizabeth Crafts Bunch of Flowers for the top row, then Paper Smooches Hello for the sentiment, and Paper Smooches Borders 2 for the background pattern paper. I simply adhered the pattern papers using double sided tape, then used foam die cuts for the sentiment and the bow, then used small bits of foam tape for the flowers. Finally I embellished them using pearls.

#535 – Winnie & Walter: WCMD 2016 (Take 3)

And I am back with my second CAS card for Winnie & Walter WCMD celebrations. The challenge that I am playing for is CAS With Kate. Another challenge I wanted to submit this to is the Sovushka Slavia CAS Marathon. Today isΒ  actually the last day for submissions to the second round, so I am cutting it quite close!!

Winnie & Walter - WCMD 2016

Anyway, so here’s my card –

Happy Birthday Wishes

For this card, I chose more of a half wreath or a sort of ‘C’ shaped arrangement for my flowers. Once I stamped the images from Winnie & Walter In Bloom: Lola’s Bouquet in MFT Hybrid ink, I colored them using distress inks. Once dry, I darkened the stamping using a black gel pen, and then added a few dots around the images.

Happy Birthday Wishes

For the sentiment, I wanted something softer – so I chose to die cut a part of the sentiment using vellum – I chose Winnie & Walter Happy die for this – and then stamped the rest of the sentiment, from Winnie & Walter The Big, The Bold & Party set, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

On the card base, I added a couple of polka dotted washi tape at angles. I then trimmed the side of the panel a bit, and mounted it over the card base. So that’s my card!

#532 – Faux Hydrangeas

PE: Top Pick at Marker

Marker POP - Top 3

Hello! And a happy World Card Making Day to all the card makers out there!! Big cheers to all us card makers!!! πŸ˜€

I have been seeing this awesome hydrangea dies from Simon Says Stamp around blogland, and been wowed one too many times..I thought I just had to try adding some in a card. Now, I don’t own the fantastic die, but I did have something similar with me – A Bunch of Flowers die from Elizabeth Crafts. One set of these flowers look so much like hydrangeas, I think I’ll call them faux hydrangeas! πŸ˜‰ And here’s what I made –

You Are Amazing

One more reason – I just good a bunch of Zig brush markers!! I had them in a bit darker colors, and was longing for some lighter shades.. and I just bought them from SSS, and couldn’t wait to put them to good use! And wow!!! Really amazing product – I couldn’t love them more – totally worth the investment!!

So here’s what I did – I first die cut a bunch of flowers…from the Bunch of Flowers dies ;). Then I colored them, pretty shabbily, using the Zigs, misted them, let them air dry. I re-colored some which I thought were lacking color or cover. Well, the water did most of the work, so I mostly did just a tiny bit!

You Are Amazing

For the background – I just placed the (dried) flowers to get a placement, then stamped the leaves from Micia Blooms of Mine – these leaves were the most like hydrangea leaves (yes, I did some homework!) using Antique Linen distress ink. Then I colored the background using Zigs, used a brush to spread and mix the color around, heat-dried it, then misted it some more with water, and then heat dried it again, and finally added water splatters to get that dreamy look. Once this was dry, I added outlines to the leaves using Zig Cool Gray 1, since the veins had become almost invisible.

Finally, I added the flowers, then stamped the sentiment – a mix of Honey Bee Stamps Brush Grunge Alpha & Ellen Hutson Mondo Magnolia – using Memento Tuxedo Black. At this point I realized that I hadn’t added any splatters that I had wanted to add..so I added them, covering the flowers (but I still got some ink on one of them).. Finally I added some silver stickles to the flower centers.
