#598 – Have A Beautiful Day

Hello! I am steadily getting into the mixed media vibe now-a-days. I’ve been looking at quite a few videos, and loving it. Although most of these involve scrapbooking, it is relatively easy to incorporate the same techniques into card making too (duh) and am thinking trying out a few techniques I learnt like that here and there in my cards.

The card I am featuring today, has a small amount of mixed media. Although, the main focus when I made the card was the pretty texture in the background, I am a little afraid it is lost in the sentiment and the frame and flowers.

Have A Beautiful Day

Actually, I had made the textured background quite some time ago, meaning to use it for another challenge, but never did. I used embossing paste, created a circled and swirly look. I added some watercolors on this. Then stamped it with the leaves from Ellen Hutson Mondo Peony, then foam mounted the frames and flowers from Paper Smooches Scalloped Frames and Dainty Flowers. The sentiment from Ellen Hutson Mondo Peony is stamped on acetate, layered with some green tone washi tape strips, strung together with an eyelet and a string (bow), and foam mounted.

Have A Beautiful Day

I just love the swirly background, just wish I could have shown it off a bit more. But the card in itself looks fine, I guess. 🙂

#573 – Coloring with Color Pencils

Hello! Its been some time.. I’ve been a bit busy with work and such.. and even coloring took such a long time – I’ve been coloring just these two cards for two weeks now!! But finally I had some time, and I was able to finish these –

Just Saying Hello

For this card, I stamped the flowers from Hero Arts Night & Day flowers using Memento Dandelion ink, then colored them using Faber Castell Polychromos color pencils. I also added lots of dots between the flowers, it was looking too plain otherwise.

The sentiment is die cut using Paper Smooches Thanks die, after which I just trimmed it along the sides and adhered it. I then stamped the rest of the sentiment, from Hero Arts All Occasion Messages using Potter’s Clay, trimmed and adhered it. I then mounted the whole thing on kraft card base. For embellishing, I used some pretty yellow and blue flower sequins.

By the way, both this card and the next one have a bit different dimension – the front panel is a bit less than 4″x 5.25″, the base being a bit more than 4″x 5.5″. So, the top panel overhangs just a bit from the base.

Just Saying Hello

I am submitting this card to The Flower Challenge #4: Blue and Yellow and A2Z Scrapbooking January Challenge: Anything Goes

anything-goes

For my next card, I chose kraft card stock and white embossing for my pencil coloring –

Celebrate

I combined stamps from Happy Little Stampers Doodled Flowers and Simon Says Stamp Look for the Miracles – I just knew as soon as I saw them that these two stamps would work wonderfully together! So, I stamped them on a lighter kraft cardstock and then heat embossed them with Wow! white embossing powder, and then colored them.

The sentiment comes from Stamplorations Celebrate die cut, for which I used a darker cardstock. I used another piece of black foam to mount it on the panel, and then mounted the panel on the same dark kraft card base. I added a few dots of Nuvo Crystal Drops Bright Gold around the sentiment for embellishing.

Celebrate

I am submitting this card to Stamplorations: Anything Goes Challenge (not sure of using only the sentiment die cut counts for this challenge; if not, please delete the entry!), Happy Little Stampers: Anything Goes Challenge and SSS Work It Wednesday: Something new with a new product (The SSS Stamp and the sentiment die are new in my stash!)

#571 – New Year’s Cards

Hello! I usually post New Year’s cards I make for my family right on the first day of the new year..this time I am late since I was just plain lazy, carrying over the sloth to take photos of the cards to the new year.. please don’t mind me, I am pretty sure I’ll pick up in a few months! 😉 😛

Here’s the set of cards I made –

New Year Cards 2016-17

I had a very simple design concept in mind – I wanted to do stamping, no other special techniques, just simple stamping followed by die cutting and inlaid die cut pieces in silver (I painted them silver using acrylic paint) for the sentiment.

New Year Card 1 (2016-17)

Now that I had decided this, I of course, went for my favorite stamps – flower stamps to make my cards! The flowers came from different stamp sets, as you see, and once done, I die cut the panel, added the sentiment using some scotch tape and then mounted it on my card base.

New Year Card 1 (2016-17)

Event the envelopes are all the same. I wanted the sentiment font to be as similar as possible to the one on the card, so I chose Reverse Confetti Whole Lotta Happy stamp set. I stamped this in black ink first and then stamped it again using Memento Brilliant Galaxy Gold ink.

New Year Card 1 (2016-17)

Before I stamped the sentiment, I used Hero Arts Leaves and Flowers background stamp on the envelope, stamping using Versamark watermark ink and then wiped some Perfect Pearls, each corresponding to the color or the envelope. However I was a bit unlucky with this, as the ink somehow didn’t stick to the paper and the neither did too much of the Perfect Pearls; and since I hadn’t used MISTI, I couldn’t stamp it again, without messing it up big time. But I thought it was still ok.. since the cards were pretty! 😉

#568 -Celebrate New

PE: Chosen as Simon Says Stamp Card of the Week at Instagram!!

Hello! Just now am I receiving all the crafting goodies I purchased during the Thanksgiving sales..imagine having to wait for a month!! That’s my usual story! 😥 But the wait is totally it when I open the parcels and find awesome steals! And then I can’t wait to get crafting!! 😀

And when I received the parcels last week, I set aside two products specifically, so I could combine them and create a card. I had to wait a week before actually making one..somehow couldn’t make one before this! But I got the chance today! Now, keep in mind that these products aren’t exactly new, but they are definitely new for me! 🙂

Celebrate

I combined Neat and Tangled Doily Tag with the Simon Says Stamp Gift of Love stamp set, added some watercoloring, and added the sentiment from Paper Trey Ink Good Times. Combined this with a card base embossed using Spellbinders Paisley embossing folder and some slimmer and sequins for embellishing, and you get this pretty card! 🙂

Celebrate

I am really happy with this card – the doily tag makes such a beautiful combination with the embossing – love it!! 😀

#566 – Coffee and Warm Wishes

Hello! I am showcasing two cards today, which were featured a few days back in Paper Smooches blog, with me as the Guest Designer.

I used the beautiful Cozy Coffee die for my two cards –

Paper Smooches GD Week 3 - Warm Wishes

For my first card, I used a handmade plaid paper, made using Zig brush pens. I then die cut it, then used inlaid die cutting to piece the cozy cup together. I also cut the sentiment using the same piece. I then used a piece of scrap piece of card stock, added gold foil, then die cut it using the heart in the die set.

Paper Smooches GD Week 3 - Warm Wishes

For the card base, I used We R Memory Keepers Geometric embossing folder to emboss the background, then adhered the cup and the sentiment on it.

Happy Little Stampers: December Mixed Media Challenge – Anything Goes (I’ve used embossing, watercoloring with Zig brushes, Foil and die cutting)

For my second card –

Paper Smooches GD Week 3 - Warm Wishes<

For this card, I chose pattern paper The Best of Heidi Swapp, adhered it to a card panel, trimmed it to size. I then arranged and stamped all the sentiments on the right and heatSince some of the gold accidentally got embossed on a different part of the card embossed them all in gold. Since some of the gold accidentally got embossed on a different part of the card For some additional effect, I added some more splattered gold heat embossing by just rubbing the paper with my hand..the embossing powder just sticks to that, right! 😉 How clever of me! 😛

Paper Smooches GD Week 3 - Warm Wishes

Finally, I die cut the coffee cup using the Cozy Coffee die cut, and made it a shaker using some of my sister’s gold seed beads. I also added some gold sparkle on the die outline, using Deco Art Glamour Dust Ultra Fine Glitter Paint, which also helped to make it stand out a bit.

#537 – Coloring One Layered Flowers

PE: Winner at One Layer Simplicity Challenge!!

Hello! I really wanted to try a one layer card, where coloring was the main focus. And here’s what I created –

Happiest Birthday Wishes

I love how this turned out!!! I colored everything using Zig Brush markers – never thought could be this easy!! Seriously! All I did was add color so very vaguely – just like i would add highlights on lines in text book, and then spread the color using a brush – that’s it!!

Happiest Birthday Wishes

Ok, coming back – I’ve mostly used Winnie & Walter products here. I first marked and masked out the center area. I then stamped the images from In Bloom: Lola’s Bouquet, then a borrowed leaf from In Bloom Addie’s Garden, using Antique Linen distress ink, masking the images wherever needed –  then colored all the images using Zig brush markers, spreading the color using a normal brush wet with water.

Once done, I added some extra details, adding the lines on the leaves and redefining flowers, using the same markers. I then added the frame using scale and sketch pens – one had even half dried up, but it gave a nice wooden look, so I used it. 🙂 Finally stamped the sentiment from The Big, The Bold and Party stamp set using Hero Arts Cup O’ Joe ink.

I even added a few gold dots on the flowers and leaves and the sentiment – it has left a little sheen, but I couldn’t capture it in the images 😦

I am also submitting this card to the following challenges –

#522 – Color Layering Hibiscus

PE: Winner at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!! I can’t believe it!! 😀

SSS - Designer Spotlight Badge

SSS - Monday Challenge Winner

Hello! I had shared a card I had made for my Papa’s birthday, for my Ma to give him. This is another card I had made, for me to give him! 🙂

Happy Birthday

I used Hero Arts Color Layering Hibiscus, with a few smaller flowers from Altenew Vintage Flowers, then Altenew Painted Greetings for the sentiment. I also added a few dots using a black pen.

Happy Birthday

I didn’t want too much embellishing, so I added a bit of black and multi-color glitter stickles in the flower centers.

Happy Birthday

For the envelope, I used the same stamp sets, but with black and grey inks.

Happy Birthday
