#792 – Stamping on Alcohol Inked Background

Hello! I made a card from one of the sheets with alcohol ink applied – I had written a post on it some time ago. This is one of the backgrounds I had made then, but hadn’t used.

I adhered it to a piece of a light yellow card base, trimmed it and stamped the image from Ellen Hutson Mondo Sakura using Archival black ink. Actually, my initial idea had been to use the ink to remove the alcohol ink. But that resulted in the image being so invisible, that I decided to do the reverse and stamped it in black ink.

Hello Beautiful - Partial Alcohol Ink Background

Since I was using my MISTI, I stamped the image once again on a light yellow card base. I also stamped the sentiments, from the same stamp set. I then trimmed the card base and also foam mounted the alcohol ink panel on top. Finally proceeded to add some multi colored gemstones for embellishing.

#783 – In focus!

PE: CAS On Friday Favorite!!

CAS on Sunday - Honorable Mention

Hello! Since I watercolored quite a few cards these past few days (well, some are yet to be published here…) I thought of switching gears a bit. So after going through some challenges that I thought of joining, I made a CAS card –

I Miss Your Face

To make this card, I first cut an oval shape out of some scrap paper, to use it as a mask. I used this on a white card base to apply Fozzilised Amber distress oxide ink. On another piece of scrap white cardstock, I stamped the butterflies using MFT Hybrid Black ink. After fussy cutting these, I foam mounted them on the card base

I then colored another piece with Worn Lipstick and Candied Apple distress oxide inks and die cut the letters ‘hi’ using Lawn Fawn Quinn’s ABCs dies. However, when I places it on the yellow backdrop, it wasn’t looking that good, so I added a little Wild Honey on the top. I then stacked this die with a few more pieces and adhered it to the card. I then stamped the rest of the sentiment, from Ellen Hutson Totally Random Sayings Vol 1, using MFT Hybrid Black ink. Finally added a few dots around the butterflies using a black pen.

I totally loved how that yellow ink forms a real quick and easy backdrop, but brings everything into focus so easily! And that bright yellow – totally love that! 🙂

#716 – Seize the Birthday – One Layer

Hello and welcome to a new challenge at Seize the Birthday! This time we have a Topping of ‘One Layer’. But you are free to join the challenge with any new Birthday project, if you do not want to choose the Topping.

Seize The Birthday - The Toppings

Seize The Birthday - Anything Goes

Here’s the one layer card I made –

Celebrate

I used a combination of flowers from Altenew Layered Lily and Hero Arts Color Layering Hibiscus. I always felt that the images from the two stamp sets would go well together, so I am glad to finally put it on a card! 🙂 I used distress inks, misted with water to stamp.

Once dry, I added the sentiment, from Waffle Flower Congrats and Winnie & Walter Sentimental: Birthday. I didn’t think and ended up stamping the smaller sentences on an already black background.. but I let it be. You can partially make out the sentence, plus, I am not actually sending it to anyone!! 😉

#710 – Coloring with Pens and Stripes

Hello! We have a new challenge up at Seize the Birthday, and this time we are having a ‘No Toppings’ or anything goes challenge, which means that you can just join the fun with any Birthday project of your choice!

Seize The Birthday - Anything Goes

And here’s my card – I’ve had this pretty stamp set from Simon Says Stamp from such a long time, but I haven’t made something I was happy with with it ever since I bought it. But this time, somehow the technique, images and idea clicked! 🙂

Sending Birthday Wishes

For the background, I used Spellbinders Paisley embossing folder. For the top panel, I first cut out a 3*4.25 inches panel, stamped the images from Simon Says Stamp Look For the Miracles stamp set. I used a mid tone gray ink, since I knew that the pens’ inks were darker and would definitely color over this gray.. why simply stamp in a light ink when you can have things easier, right? 😉

Sending Birthday Wishes

Once done stamping, I started drawing the stripes over all the images. These are Uniball gel pens that I used. Pretty good quality, since its been quite some time since I bought them, and they haven’t dried yet, even though I haven’t used them.

Sending Birthday Wishes

For the sentiment, I stamped the portion below with black ink. There was a little of the ink pad’s fiber there, which ended up as a blotch, but I let it be… handmade, right!? 😛 That sentiment is from Winnie & Walter In Bloom: Coralina’s Flowers. The die cut part is from Paper Trey Ink Wet Paint 3, which I colored with Fossilized Amber distress oxide ink, then added some Sunshine perfect pearls on top, for some shine that matched the gold pen that I used earlier on the images. And that’s my card!

#704 – Merry Christmas (1)

Hello! I had this stamp that I especially bought for the Christmas season – Christmas Flower from Stamplorations. Need I say more? This large poinsettia is just perfect for quite a few techniques. I made a couple of cards using this pretty stamp (showing another one tomorrow).

For my first card, I chose embossing with watercoloring. And since I hadn’t used my Zig brush pens for quite some time now, I thought this was a very good reason to do so! 🙂

Merry Christmas

I used a watercolor panel and heat embossed the poinsettia in gold. I then did some quick watercoloring using my Zig brush pens. I love them for the depth and the richness of the colors they provide. Of course, I did use another brush and plain water for spreading the color, I did want some lighter shades in the image too!

Merry Christmas

Anyway, once done, I trimmed the panel to size, and also fussy cut out one side of the poinsettia. I then added the sentiment from Paper Trey Ink ‘Tis the Season stamp set, and foam mounted the panel on a brown card base.

#694 – Thanks For Everything

PE: CAS(E) This Sketch Favorite!!

CASE This Sketch - Honorable Mention

Hello and welcome! Its been some time I last worked on Kraft base cards, and somehow a ‘thanks’ theme with kraft seemed like the perfect fit.

Thanks for Everything

I made this card using the three basic and simple basics of card making – stamping, embossing and die cutting. I used the images from Reverse Confetti Blooms n Buds for stamping everything in tones of brown, die cut the sentiment ‘Thanks’ using Neat & Tangled Jounaling Alphas, the rest of the sentiment stamped from Paper Trey Ink Wet Paint, finally the embossing in the background is using We R Memory Keepers Weave embossing folder. Very simple, but looks complicated. 😀

Thanks for Everything

Hello! Made this card with the current Altenew challenge colors. Mostly using oranges and browns, with a splash of yellow in an otherwise earthy colored card.

Thanks

I used Altenew Watercolored Wonders with distress inks. The sentiment comes from Honey Bee Stamps Brush Grunge Alpha. I added some dots using gold pearl pen.

Thanks
